  1. Private sales? Big whoop. What percentage of total gun transfers is that? I bought my lever .308 Savage 99 that I hunt with from my BIL's 30 years ago after my FIL died, and to use your words "without ANYONE knowing about it" -- do you really want to make a big issue out of stuff like that? P.S. -- Thinking about it, most all of my current firearms (10-12?) have been inherited or gifted. My experiences with the current background check scheme relate to a youth 20 gauge and a .223 that I bought for my son as he was growing up.
  2. You know better than this. Legitimate gun purchases require background checks. Criminals don't follow laws.
  3. "You shall not murder" could be a useful classroom instruction.
  4. OK, I'm sure the China scholar/murderer used some kind of "assault pistol" that would have been banned if the non-R's had been in charge.
  5. I get what you are saying. This Garza fellow has not inspired confidence thus far.
  6. Your response ignored your unsupported allegations that this is a Republican issue.
  7. Or the knives, the cars, the hammers, the rocks. Stupid people, and criminals, do stupid shit. Murder is and has been illegal for a very long time.
  8. BTW, I'm not on team Vivek, but there is a large difference between academic scholarships and campaign support.
  9. Dumb take. Some grad student fucker from China uses a pistol to end a personal grievance against his professor, and it is a Republican issue in your mind?
  10. Give 'em hell, Brat! And to quote your contemporary, President Truman -- “I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.”
  11. I don't trust cops, but I also don't trust politicians promoted by Soros money. Children should not have to be subjected to this type of abuse. It is hard to imagine that cops would have motivation to lie about any of this kind of stuff, short of some sort of underlying custody issue.
  12. Historians may note the impact that the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" had on releasing folks from institutional mental health facilities and creating homelessness as a (large) cottage industry.
  13. Freshman English and Calculus is mostly much the same thing wherever you take it. Though I'm thinking that have having the male English TA hitting on a male freshman student might be pretty much a uniquely UT Austin thing.
  14. My wife and I were public school products. Then we looked at all of this nonsense lately and decided to home school K-8. Private schools 9-12. College at Texas public Universities (because their Dad is Cheap) -- so far so good as the kids are in mid-30s and now parents.
  15. I was a kid at Burnet Jr. High when all that came down. The kids that were bussed in were understandably pissed -- there were lots of fights and lunch money shakedowns. OTOH, Burnet won the Jr. HS district football championship in 1972, and the new Anderson won the HS district football championship in 1976!
  16. Hey there, newcomer. You were late to the party. Dell was pretty well established as PC's Limited in 1984/85. Sematech announcing Austin as their destination in 1987 was a pretty big deal, as was IBM establishing a major location in north Austin in 1966. It ain't just one thing.
  17. Too Smooth, of course!

  19. That's got to be Sam's Bar-B-Que, https://www.yelp.com/biz/sams-bar-b-que-austin
  20. I went by the Pit in Georgetown on Williams Drive the other day and their chopped beef sandwich special on the billboard was 5 for $19.95! My dear deceased Mom would have had a fit!
  21. Also a Fighting Anderson Trojan Band member here -- from the inaugural 1973 season!
  22. Thanks for the additional info. I may know you IRL. Were you involved in Aqua Festival?
  23. And thanks for all the curbs and sidewalks in Central Austin!
  24. Love Deckhands. They are now bottling and selling their green sauce. Greatness!
  25. Richard Jones Pit Barbecue used to be a thing. Fifth Street, South Congress, Burnet Road, Georgetown, Cameron Road -- I'm sure that I am missing some locations.
