  1. Halloween pumpkins are an environmental nightmare. Here's an earth-friendly guide for throwing them away Thanks for destroying the earth by celebrating Halloween you bastards.
  2. Look, his mushroom dealer was arrested and he hasn't found a new one yet. Cut him some slack.
  3. If this has not been a Surly motto at some point, then it damn well should be the Surly motto at some point.
  4. Would being indicted under the RICO Act fall under number 1, or be its own category? I could totally see Johnny falling behind on payroll, payments to vendors, taxes, etc., and being bailed out by investors who turn out to be fronts for the hillbilly mafia who use his bar to launder cash from their meth or moonshine business.
  5. Did you change your birthday? Adopt a new identity while on the run from Johnny Law? Enter witness protection after testifying against the mob? Why would your birthday not still be an August birthday? I must know the answer. That is, if you are allowed to say. Maybe you died on a hospital table late in the night on August 30 and was revived early in the morning on September 1 and you now consider that your birthday, I don't know. But again, I must know.
  6. The rumor I heard that was floating around was that Daniels was going to sit out the rest of this year, preserve his redshirt, then transfer to Southern Cal and step in as QB there once Caleb Williams departs for the NFL after this year. I think I heard that Daniels is from the Los Angeles area originally, but perhaps I am wrong about that.
  7. Anything else that you hope happens? And is there a line in Vegas on it?
  8. Lori Laughlin can ride me like she rode that bike any time.
  9. Hold it, hold it. Why build? You're better off leasing at a buck and a quarter, a buck and a half a square foot. Take your down payment and put it into CDs, or something else you can roll over every couple of months. First of all, you have to grease the local politicians for the sudden zoning problems that always come up. Then there's the kickbacks to the carpenters. And if you plan on using any cement in this building, I'm sure the teamsters would like to have a little chat with you, and that'll cost you. Don't forget a little something for the building inspectors. There's the long-term costs, such as waste disposal. I don't know if you're familiar with who runs that business, but I assure you it's not the Boy Scouts.
  10. Strangely, Kirk Ferentz was not on the Iowa sideline for that 6-4 game as his father had passed away and he was in Pittsburgh for the funeral. Article from 2014 on the 10 year anniversary of the 6-4 game There was the infamous Auburn-Mississippi State 3-2 game in 2008, though, if baseball scores in football games are your thing.
  11. October 23rd, 2004: Iowa 6 Penn State 4 https://www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/242970213
  12. This could go in this thread, or in the chili thread, or the Steel Shank thread. I'll put it here.
  13. I don't know why but this picture reminded me of the Twitter thread from a few years ago making fun of pictures of Peloton bikes in obviously expensive homes.
  14. I first read this as "When I want single meat, it's Brisket. But that's just me." My next thought was, I don't think @Brisketexan is single. Good thing you put that "a" before "single".
  15. Did a search and did not see this posted anywhere, so SIAP. Since this is in Australia I have no problem believing it to be true. I mean, it might not be, but it's real to me, damnit. Man fights kangaroo to save dog.
  16. Iowa and Wisconsin combined for 849 yard of punting on Saturday. https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore/_/gameId/401520328 Somehow, Navy and Charlotte out did that with 905 yards of punting. https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore/_/gameId/401531405 I feel confident that the Ferentzs saw this and said, "Challenge accepted."
  17. Ol' Nessie had to make itself scarce to avoid the latest search. Probably why Sasquatch made an appearance: to give cover so Nessie could return home. https://www.npr.org/2023/08/21/1195016459/monster-hunters-largest-search-for-the-loch-ness-monster-in-50-years Also, those "Messin' With Sasquatch" commercials were kind of funny.
  18. You really missed the obvious by not going with the Babylon Bee for this one.
  19. Hundreds of vagina plaster casts spill onto road after crash
  20. So a little bit of research yields the following: According to Baseball Reference, Ricky Henderson is indeed the leader in leadoff home runs with 81 total. Altuve has 34 as of September 20th, 2023, which I guess means he has at least 35 now. That would tie him with Bobby Bonds. Then there are these tweets from Sarah Langs.
  21. Without doing any research whatsoever, I am guessing any record pertaining to leadoff home runs is held by Ricky Henderson. But I could be completely wrong about that.
  22. Amish men shunned following emergency alert test that outed them for having cell phones
  23. Did a search and did not find a thread for this. Jason Statham is a beekeeper. And more than that. But since this is a Statham movie, you probably already knew that.

    First 2 hours of MTV

If you browse this list you will see a fair number of repeats. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_first_music_videos_aired_on_MTV
  25. Are you going to partake of 6 4 2 of these before you drive to Dallas on Saturday? And if so, are your passengers aware?
