  1. About Treefiddy. This board is slipping.
  2. Do we have a biggest bitch evar thread here? I have a feeling this gal would not make the top 100, if we did. A lot of Strong competition and stabby cray out there.
  3. Downtown Earlier today:
  4. Anything to get out of cleaning the garage, amiright?
  5. Not in an overly touristy drunk bro area.
  6. Headed to Matagorda 3 mile lake next week for camping, yaking, and fishing. Much needed.
  7. I loved that show. Back when it was on, I would switch over from Monday Night Football and watch it, even if the Cowboys were playing. (back then the did not suck). I would never have figured it as a sit com tho
  8. If not mentioned previously. Check out Shaya next time you are in town. Israeli food with a New Orleans twist. Out of the way. Great Food.
  9. I don't know anything about jumping rope, but I too have had sprinting interrupted by weather or injury. I often substituted what is called the 123 workout, which consist of 1 pull up, drop to to do 2 push ups, rise and do 3 air squats. Repeat alternating between pull ups and chin ups for 20 timed minutes. Back when I did these regularly my PB was 84 sets and when in lesser shape perhaps 40-50 sets. The sprinting effect does not happen until about the last 5 minutes which are brutal. I always found the transition from push up to squats the most difficult aspect. I mixed in box steps in lieu of squats and sometimes experiment with rings, climbing holds, or straps on the pull up/chin ups. You are in really good shape is you can do 50 with good form. Keep a towel nearby, the bar will get slippery and you will sweat like you are in a Cecil B. Demille movie.
  10. Man, this thread has everything: Hardcore body builders using all kind of supplements, middle aged fat assess looking to drop 3 bills, people who hate running, people who love running, guys looking to drop a couple of pounds and hit some weights, know nothings, and know it alls. Transformation means different things to different people. I think some of us have transitioned from transformation into basically a specific fitness hobby requiring unique protocols etc. that become more intense and time consuming not unlike a regular serious hobby like playing the guitar, growing prize orchids, or fly fishing. Thread will become derailed accordingly. Nevertheless, there is good info, inspiration, and affirmation here aplenty. Carry on.
  11. For me I have found it to be a natural cycle for cheat days/meals. Sometimes I am inexplicably hungry or tired and just need to eat what I crave. Granted I am not talking about eating a box of twinkies, more like a late evening bowl of cereal or some venison breakfast sausage at odds times....and of course a few beers when the time is right.
  12. We got in early from the manufacturers since this was something we had been thinking about doing already. We had a bunch of holds on the outside of the garage that we moved inside. ..and we had some friends in Houston that dismantled their wall and we swooped in and got their pads, holds, plywood, and hardware. We have since upgraded the padding as well. Lot of damn work though.
  13. Yes it has. Back in high school (early 80s)I had a buddy who worked in Strait Music' repair shop a few doors down on Lamar. From time to time he would bring me in to work on horn repair and we would go over to whole foods to get a smoothie and make fun of the all the hippies. My buddy would do pencil sketches of all the stoners that were hilarious. He used to draw them on all of his sheet music and etude books. Most of our hippy source material came from Whole Foods and the Fabulous Freak Brothers cartoons.
  14. I lived in St. Louis Green Toughskins. Another cool memory was when I played in the band back in 5th and 6th grade at St. Louis. Reitz music was in the strip mall (the one with the Dart Bowl)next to campus. After my trumpet lessons I would go to the Austin Public Library next door while I waited for my mom to pick me up. It was weird having a library in a strip mall retail space. My mom would get so mad at my brother and I for just reading Tin Tin and Asterik and Obelisk comic books while we were there. Although I did manage to knock out The Hobbitt too.
  15. Yes. The old Austin inter-parochial league. Made up of the murderer's row of St. Louis, St. Ignatius, St. Marys, St. Austin, Sacred Heat (sometimes), Allandale Baptist, Texas School for the Deaf South (as they were called back then), and TSD East. I did Football, Basketball, and track back in 77-78 and 78-79 seasons (5th and 6th grade). Then off to public school after that. I went to St. Louis and we were parishioners there from '67 to '80. If Brat was there during that time, I'm sure he knew who we were as my parents were School Board Presidents one year and held other offices as well and were involved on the churchy side of things also. We were pretty hard ass catholics. Our football (JV) team went undefeated in the fall of '78. We were coached by the legendary E.G. "Ox" Emerson of UT and Detroit Lions fame. TSD was always tough and we were lucky we only had to play them once that year due to a weather cancellation. Many a victory celebration was had at the Top Notch that year.
  16. Improvement. Land has been high but steady. They did this a few years ago and had to beat them back.
  17. Up a smooth 57% which is an increase of 481,000.
  18. Alas, no beer fridge. We are a just in time inventory on beer. Can't have thirsty teenage climbers reducing stock, plus I don't have the energy to keep tabs on inventory.
  19. Goats and goat shed/pen. Built climbing wall in garage
  20. Also known as "Uncle Rico" guy.
