  1. I saw lots and lots of movies in high school about all sorts of things.
  2. 1. The Program was an awful movie. Just horrible acting and writing all over. 2. The Program was about college, not high school. I never saw Varsity Blues. After watching James Vanderbeek’s “I don’t want your life!” line in a tortured Texas accent during the trailer, I took a hard pass.
  3. Bama hired a cunning Linguist. I’ll show myself out.
  4. I bet you still call trains “choo-choos.”
  5. Just a big ass meatloaf. I didn’t have any tonight. I’m in tactical mode this week with a busy schedule, so making an advance dinner for me and my kids that will last a couple nights.
  6. I've been to Toronto three times, and others with more experience in that area might weigh in, but the airport is quite a good drive from Toronto, and I recall the area around the airport seemed like DFW, with not much in the near vicinity except for chain restaurants and hotels.
  7. It was a funny movie indeed, and Rebecca De Mornay gave young South Austin a few prepuberty hard-ons (I think I saw this on HBO for the first time around 1985 or so, when I was in 5th or 6th grade). But watching it as an adult, I think it's a more seriously well-made film than people give it credit for. I've read some who have called it The Graduate of the 1980s. Edit: And it has one of the greatest 1980's film soundtracks. (Yes, we are drifting off course.)
  8. Sir, we are upstanding citizens who do not make disparaging remarks about race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. But please do not read the Noah Knigga thread.
  9. I still laugh my ass off at the movie and quote it often, although yes, the date-rape aspect and Asian slurs would cause discomfort if I ever watched it with my kids. Similar things could be said about Blazing Saddles.
  10. You're doing it wrong, Huck. We finish with an SEC murderer's row. We go 1-4 in those games and it's like 5-0 in the Big XII.
  11. By the way @DalTxHornFan, I was about 4-5 years old when you were cruising Austin in that car. But back then I could've ridden shotgun with no seatbelt.
  12. Really not a bad idea, since Sharp is the one who runs that shitshow.
  13. There are some aspects of Dazed and Confused that are timeless regardless of your generation: High school coaches, driving around to find a gathering to get drunk/high, scheming to throw a party at your parents' house. But it seemed like high schoolers stopped caring as much about cars somewhere in the late 70s or early 80s. And I don't think hazing freshman is a thing anymore, at least it wasn't when I was a freshman in 1988.
  14. Well, seems like we're safe with Nansen staying at Texas.
  15. I would call you our honorary Texan living in Iowa, but being a Texan isn’t much to brag about these days either.
  16. Are you implying that App State and Liberty have some amount of prestige?
  17. Maybe he’s evading creditors.
  18. Well now I know what I’m doing with that extra pound of ground beef I bought.
