  1. www.mountainsteals.com is Moosejaw's clearance website. There are pretty good deals available on there as well. Steep and cheap is Backcountry's clearance website. Keep an eye on them, as good deals go fast. Also, sign up for active junky. You get cash back for shopping at many outdoor retailers through their affiliate links. Usually 8 to 10 percent back, but sometimes higher. Also, if you find a deal on one of the retailer's clearance sites, search for the same product on their regular website. It's not unusual to find a better deal on the regular site, or often the regular site has a higher percentage of cash back than the clearance site that makes a difference as well.
  2. There's an all encompassing camping and backpacking thread on here somewhere with lots of good information and pictures. Much of it is geared for backpacking, but there us plenty for car camping as well. Take a look at REI's used gear side. Sometimes you can find some good deals, but it's probably not the best time of year for that.
  3. And you have a frame of reference?
  4. Hard to disagree with anything he said there. It's a nicely made boot, as it should be for that price, but the price is pretty steep for the quality. No question they are trying to steer themselves towards the luxury market where the price point and quality point are not at all balanced. The one thing I would add, is that while the interior pigskin liner may have been cheaper and torn a bit on the grain during the lasting, that tear isn't likely to be detrimental, and pigskin is a great lining because it has more pores than other leathers and should be more breathable. Belly leather is more flexible and stretchy, so it makes sense that they would use it for an area where they can't really see or control what is going on during the lasting process. I would be more worried about what looked to be wrinkles in the lining and how they might affect comfort, but it is hard to judge that without the boot (or half of it) in hand. They seem like nice boots, but again, for the price you are paying a significant amount of money for the name. You would think that they would pay a little more attention to some of the details if they really want to position themselves as a premier luxury brand.
  5. 21 mpg out that beast? I bet my wife could get at least 16. We just got a new vehicle for her (subaru ascent, we're a lesbian couple now), and she manages to get the EPA estimated city gas mileage out of it while mostly driving on the highway. Every time I get into it, the average gas mileage for that tank goes up considerably. Apparently she just hates the earth.
  6. Watching The Rings of Power last night... "Did J K Rowling write this?"
  7. How many red states have embraced weed? I mean, Oklahoma is probably on the verge of legalizing it for recreational. Arkansas isn't far behind. Legal weed is truly one of the few things that the people on the ground for both sides agree on. If it looks like it is gaining enough momentum, expect both sides to jump on the bandwagon. Otherwise it is an issue of a bunch of old people being afraid "the blacks" are gonna toke it up and do bad things.
  8. If Amazon plays this right, this could be a GOT type series. They just have to keep the quality up. Hopefully they've learned from the mistakes of GOT and keep a quality team of writers pumping out solid content.
  9. Just finished the first one and the beginning of the second. Very well done and feels like a Lord of the Rings series should.
  10. My ARs are for hunting, and generally chambered in useful hunting rounds, like .300 BLK and .243. As such they don't get a lot of round counts from things like magazine dumps. I've never had an issue with reliability.
  11. Now, you get up there and they say it was on the ground floor after all and your late, so they get you to the ground floor as quickly as possible.
  12. Those names suck. Boats 'n' Hoes.
  13. Any day that you get to use the word defenestration is a good day.
  14. Does Surly have stickers? Because for $120 we can get one put on an artillery shell to be launched at the Russians. https://theboomboard.com/en/
  15. Such beautiful scenery!
  16. I thought just about all the recipes had lemon juice to help keep bacteria and stuff at bay. It seems like it is only about 50/50 or so. Awesome collection of recipes, BTW. I've only ever been able to find a few online.
  17. I haven't looked at any maps, but I bet the charging infrastructure out there is much less dense.
  18. Should park it in the river walk so people can learned about its role defending the Alamo.
  19. Dzuik's is where I've always stopped, but there may be others that are better. I haven't been out that way for a long time. I always try and plan to take a detour when nearby, but it never works out.
  20. I like it on Ritz because I'm bougie like that.
  21. Rouge noun a red powder or cream used as a cosmetic for coloring the cheeks or lips.
  22. If you can even find ammo for it. Isn't 5.7 super hard to find right now?
  23. I want that.
  24. Can't we just take the 30mm cannon from the A-10, lop the barrel off a bit shorter, and mount it to a drone? Could be fun.
  25. Didn't make it to the end, but that's a slide show set to elevator music, not a walk through.
