  1. In looking at the outstanding races, I’m guessing that it will end up 53-47 GOP. Rosen has to catch up to win but the outstanding votes are in Vegas. She will take it. Too bad Casey looks to just be missing out in PA but maybe there are some mail in votes left in Philly. Sucks but I went to sleep last night thinking it was 55-45. Small victories. In looking ahead to 2026, the Dems have 2 tough races Ossoff (GA) and Peters (MI) while GOP will have strong challenges with Collins (ME), Ernst (IA), Tillis (NC). Usually the midterms are bad for the party in power but you never know. of course I’m counting on Kari Lake losing but she is surprisingly making it a close race. Wow.
  2. I’m fairly certain my school taxes today are not paying for my public school education from 30+ years ago. But maybe there is some magical retro payment system that flows into a different county.
  3. I've heard stories about many young men struggling to find their way in life. They fail in school relative to their female counterparts which leads next to earning less money. I can only imagine the lack of romantic interests for many of them. Personally I have a few friends who's sons appear to fit this description. Successful parents but the sons are in minimum wage jobs a few years out of high school. I'm not putting them down but just an observation. If the status quo isn't working for you, then you look to change up something like who's in power. There also looks to be tremendous pressure on young men with their insecurity regarding their masculinity. And even hinting that you support a Democratic policy much less a candidate and you're called a beta by some. And being called a beta is fighting words even if it's a stranger doing so.
  4. Kind of like people, like me, who don't have kids but have paid thousands in the school system. A society leads to scenarios where individuals sometimes receives benefits from govt programs and sometimes they don't. I do agree with you that we're moving more to a place where it's everyone for themselves.
  5. Nothing worse than someone not talking crap or not talking at all until the win. If you want to take trash after a game or an election, show up before said election. And to add to that, someone here is calling other people pussies when he created a new Surly handle because he was too embarrassed by his previous posts and he didn't want impacting his real life. Looking at you Drebin/Sack.
  6. People believed: Trump will give them more money in terms of tax breaks especially for lower income people undocumented workers are coming to kill your family the money that we sent to Ukraine came at the expense of helping you. Prices will be drastically deflationary without negatives impacts harris and the Dems should have spend more time saying how all of these ideas are bs. And Biden should have been addressing the problems sooner.
  7. I could write a paragraph or two where I believe Harris made mistakes but ultimately this falls on Biden being a poor president for many in America. I did well under Biden’s America but that’s mainly due to a raging hot stock market. America fared best among most countries regarding inflation but Biden should have acted more decisively to combat higher prices. And he failed to take notice of the belief about too much illegal immigration.
  8. crazy that so many of our neighbors just can’t see what a con man Trump is.
  9. Window is getting small. Problem is that Harris is losing a little ground with many PA counties. Adds up.
  10. Isn’t that needle for the entire country?
  11. These states were also going to be close. Until I see problems with the blue, I’m not worried. It just doesn’t look like a chance of Harris running up Biden’s total.
  12. Dems panicking when there’s no reason to do so.
  13. I have hopes for NC but my recollection is they get very slow.
  14. Allred outperforming Harris by about 2 points with the initial vote
  15. Jumped into polymarket. Let’s see what happens.
  16. The story about Robinson has to be impacting the NC vote. There must be republicans staying home due to those wild stories about him.
  17. It would be interesting to know if the carpet baggers are replacing the dying olds or not. My guess is that they're not but even if so, the trend may not continue.
  18. The Trump campaign and Trump are two different entities. As the day progresses that gap will widen. Insiders have already said that many on the campaign can’t wait to get away and would avoid any Trump administration job. They only have a few hours left to toe the line. As the liquor flows in a few of them, journalists will start to tell more insider stories.
  19. One thing to remember that Houston, Dallas, SA and Austin are all in the top 6 of youngest average age for metro areas. The other 2 are Salt Lake City and Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, CA. Young people don't vote as well as older. It's why Texas hasn't flipped blue by allowing the older, rural areas to dominate elections. As the older, white people die and the younger, non-white get older, Texas will flip fast and decisively. Getting more of the Hispanic vote is the only way for Texas to stay red.
  20. I know that mainstream media has a self imposed rule to not release exit polls until after the polls close for a state. Or at least I assume it’s a self imposed rule. Is there anything stopping them or anyone from releasing exit polls early? the concept seems tied to not wanting to influence the vote but they constantly release poll after poll leading up to Election Day which influences votes. I don’t see any difference.
  21. Abbott and Patrick will use tax dollars, mainly paid by the large cities, to fund doctors to staff small town hospitals. But those small town residents will sneer at the deadbeat welfare recipients in the big cities.
  22. I’m a believer that Starlink will eventually be Elon’s most important product. However it’s a scary proposition that he could end up controlling a large percentage of the ISP market.
  23. Heavy rain in Houston this morning. I’m taking it as a sign that we’re washing Cruz down the storm sewer.
  24. Sounds like a you problem. 😂
