  1. Yes, it sounds like that.
  2. I doubt that the plants would be idle for years at a time. It sounds weird to talk about generating plants that are normally not used, but if they are normally used then they are not really surplus capacity. Ideally, I think, there would be a pretty liberal use of special conditions where ERCOT calls up these plants, so they can at least keep things in working order. And I would presume that BH wants to be able to spool up in minutes and sell electricity if the price goes to $8K again.
  3. I do not think that there is ANY evidence that this virus was not naturally occurring. And in any case, that would have nothing to do with whether it could be eradicated completely.
  4. A new analysis suggests that 'Ouamuamua is a chunk of nitrogen ice that had been knocked off some extra-solar Pluto-like planet, and ended up our way. https://phys.org/news/2021-03-scientists-extra-solar-oumuamua.html
  5. I see my avatar, not yours. I think we all get our own donor emails!!!
  6. Yes please. That is the one thing about current office culture that needs to die a horrible permanent death.
  7. Needs a current inspection...
  8. There has been at least one more extra-solar visitor, namely an interstellar 'comet' named Borisov I2/2019. Unlike 'Ouamuamua, this was was going so fast there was no doubt it was interstellar ('Ouamuamua was just over the speed limit), but this one seemed to look and act like a normal comet, at least as much as I read about it.
  9. Good god. The Texas GOP governors just keep getting worse and worse and worse. We go from W, how do you do worse than W? Rick Perry! How do you do worse than Rick Perry? Why Greg Abbott is how. How do you do worse than Abbott? Well, Sid Miller or Allan West would surely qualify there.
  10. That means this works, 100%.
  11. Scott Marcus from Glass Eye, I think.
  12. Understood, but it will mean that they also will not have to deal with former customers who also do not want to deal with MAGAts who refuse to wear a mask.
  13. If I was giving advice I would recommend US AGE which are liquid and come in a convenient variety of sizes. If I was doing it myself, I'd more follow RDCane's advice and get a variety of ex-money gold when it is available for not much more than melt. I think a lot of USA gold coinage is also available near melt. There is really a large amount of this gold so pretty nice pieces should be available like this. Then I would have fun collecting something pretty while saving in a physical form.
  14. You might check the mintmarks to see if you have a more valuable variety. On the 1858 quarter is should be on the back Just above the QUAR DOL. Either a letter S or O or nothing. The S seems to be worth more. There are actually 3 different kinds of dollar coins from the 1870s so it is hard to say about those without pics.
  15. If you boil it and then let cool, does it stay cloudy, or some solids settle, or does it turn clear? If air bubbles I would expect it turns clear then look and smell fine.
  16. Bahia Honda State Park is really pretty. I think you can rent sea kayaks there, which looks like it would be awesome. It was too crowded when I was there though so there were no kayaks available for me.
  17. It is the highpoint of South Dakota, not just the Black Hills. It was named Harney Peak when I went up it just over 20 years ago. Check out Custer State Park, there are several hiking trails, or you can just drive the park loops and look for prairie dogs. The Centennial Trail, which passes through this area, uses a longhorn symbol as a trail marker, for some good karma. Devils Tower is not far away, and cool to see.
  18. I don't think there is really that much being liquidated. Melvin is dumping assets one way or another, but they only have to do that because of their reckless bet. Everybody else can sit and watch with amusement. Melvin may be selling a few $billion, but that is chump change in the overall scheme of things.
  19. Isn't converting debt exactly the same as issuing more shares?
  20. Ben White/Manchaca seems popular.
  21. NO
  22. The most surprising to me, was that 74+ million people just voted to re-elect him. I really cannot wrap my brain around that. I did not realize the depth of the narcissism. There was obviously a lot, but I did not really expect it would be 100.000000% total. I hoped at least, that somewhere along the way, he would let somebody else do something sensible, and just take all the credit. But it had to be absolutely, totally, entirely about him, so nope. Not much else was really surprising. The Capitol riot went further than I expected, but everybody knew something would happen. Unfortunately, we are not done with DJT. If the Senate does not vote to bar him from office, and if he decides to run/grift again, he will still win the R nomination easily. I will rest much easier now that he no longer has control of the government, but like a shambolic zombie, I expect him to try and come back.
  23. I heard that she fucked around and is now finding out.
