  1. That sucks. Is it a ac/gas absorption fridge or one of the new 12vdc ones?
  2. Fuck me, Longview damn sure isnt nirvana. I guess at some point Komatsu bought that part of LeTourneau?
  3. I had to go back and look but I had watched a few of his videos a month or so back. He catches a lot of big fish around Houston. A lot of stealthy urban fishing in nauseous where you wouldn’t expect to find fish like that
  4. Heavy equipment and boobs? Where is this nirvana?
  5. I'm surprised that the line is as straight as it is. When my grandfather decided he wanted to build the lake, he contacted the Corp of Engineers about building it for soil erosion as a lot of that was going on in that part of the country at that time and the COE said it would cost $15K or more and they would only pay about half. He instead found an old boy that had a D8 cat with a cable operated blade and got him to build it. They set up a 55 gal drum, leveled it off and used a 4' level across the top to sight elevations for the dam. Whole cost was about $3k doing it that way. Yeah, Dad is still hanging in there. He has physically slowed down a whole bunch from even 2 or 3 years ago and dementia is chasing his heels too. I posted a pic of him last week in the tractor thread. He mostly supervises these days, mainly telling me what I'm doing wrong.
  6. As I posted above, I have a need to dig a few holes on our place, but before that happens I'll tell a story on one of my favorite holes on our place and one that I currently hate the most. This took place back in December of 2012. We have a 12 acre lake on our property that was built back in 1952. I grew up coming over to the property, fishing and duck hunting on our little lake and hunting squirrels in our creek bottom (that was about 100 acres of native pecan trees) below the lake. In the '80s, a large reservoir was built and when it filled it flooded that hundred acres of pecan trees. The normal spillway elevation of our little lake is about 16' above the elevation of the big lake. The spillway is constructed of 3 4' joints of 36" dia concrete pipe for the vertical and 12 joints of 24" for the horizontal. The outlet of horizontal pipe falls 4' into a small pool, which then flows down the old creek bed until it hits open water of the big lake. After a good rain and the lake level is up a couple of feet, there will be a 2' dia water jet from the outlet. This water tends to wash the tar between the pipe joints which then started the pipe to crack and the joints to widen. Normally there is some seepage between some of the vertical joints and the pipe always has a trickle of water. But, with it being so dry that fall, the lake level was down 5+' and the pipe was dried up. Dad had wanted to check out the pipe and unknown to the rest of the family had crawled through it a week before to inspect the pipe and see if it needed some repairs. We were up at the place for the opening of duck season and after shooting a few birds that morning dad mentioned he'd like to go see about repairing some spots on the pipe. We got some caulking tar and some mortar mix and headed down in the hole. Dad went down in the hole and into the horizontal. I went down to the bottom of the vertical and my buddy and son mixed up mortar and lowered to me in a bucket and then dad pulled another bucket with a refill back and forth from me. Oh yeah, here's a pic of my Dad when he was done. He turned 80 the following month. Lake and spillway Vertical section Horizontal section, you really can see light at the end of the tunnel old gopher
  7. Pretty much an abbreviated Guy’s Perfect Day joke from 1997.
  8. We have some property. We need to dig a few holes. Consider me subscribed to your newsletter.
  9. ^^^ yeah, but he didn’t say that he had a million bucks.
  10. Hard to drink beer and control blade with right hand and then steering, reverser with left hand and clutch/brakes with feet. I feel like a drummer playing some of Frank Zappa’s stuff. Hands all over the place. Spent last weekend changing out the hydraulic hoses. Somehow got one an inch too short and had to get a couple of fittings to stretch the hose. Cleaned out the hydraulic tank real good and put new filters on it. Spilled old hydraulic oil all over the place as expected when pouring up into a drum. Next trip up I’ll drain the fuel tank and flush it, change fuel filters, and change the engine oil and filter. Except for greasing the idler wheels and track idlers and adjusting track tension that will have a full service on the dozer. Just in time to be hot as hell when trying to use it to push some brush. Had some cows come by on Friday while ai was taking a break and had my dad supervising on Saturday.
  11. Shop that did mine last year looked at my insurance, vin on the trailer, lights worked, and the reflectors. Brakes is listed but didn't do anything with those. I parked on a side road next to the shop and they walked out back to look at it. Took all of 5 mins.
  12. Plenty of other smart phones before the Iphone. Iphone was primarily the first with a full touch screen. Compaq had an iPaq PDA based phone in 2003 or 4 I think but mainly used a stylus as it wasn't optimized for fingers.
  13. Lol at triggered FF and fixed.
  14. Sounds like everyone is gonna get a Tractor Supply GC.
  15. No shit. Sounds like doc needs to upgrade to a driver with a different set of skills.
  16. State parks are 5 months in advance right now and and are available 8 am.
  17. If we are doing brunettes, pencil in ‘80s era Tania Coleridge for me …
  18. We are similar. Already have a camping trip on the place that weekend and staying for the eclipse in the calendar.
