  1. Got a 100 acre fire 0% contained on the south side of Lake Somerville. We were out on the boat this afternoon in a cove right next to it on the lake when we noticed it kicking off. Already burnt a few houses but it looks like it will eventually burn into the lake.
  2. Lol, I fat fingered that an actually meant a Curado DC. Those are about $250 and I even think there's a new DC model that's closer to $200. Only have experience with the Curado version and you can get just about anyone casting well really quick with it. If you are still thinking spinning reel, change out the mono as a first step,. Make sure to wind on the new mono in the correct direction or it will definitely tangle like crazy. Best way is by removing the spool and using a winder so that it goes on like a conventional reel. If that doesn't work and you want to get him a new reel, I like the Stradic and Spheros in the 2500-4000 sizes.
  3. A Calcutta DC will just about eliminate backlashes, even for a novice. Life is too short to fish with an eggbeater.
  4. That's a whole lot of fuck around and find out at one time.
  5. Maybe not pig blood-soaked but I saw a couple of blurbs that they might have used the ginsu hellfire. It slices, it dices, it juliennes!
  6. Dude needs to take that wadded up mess and throw it in the trash as is and take up golf. The camera is on a selfie stick type think and the software automatically erases the stick as it records.
  7. Nice video. Could have been nicer if they would have actually shown at least one full presentation, hook and land all the way through instead of 5 sec music video style jump cuts.
  8. Hash browns too it seems.
  9. Sweet, some new vertical reefs would be great now that they've removed most of the rigs that used to be offshore Texas.
  10. Simple riff, carries the song all the way through ...
  11. His buddies don’t have a sack if they don’t call him pinky from this day on.
  12. Mrs. Jimmy Houston definitely ain’t no bitch. Took that like a champ.
  13. Is your throat length for that rifle that much longer that the COL?
  14. Yeah a leatherman or a set of klien side cutters would have taken care of that one. +1 on the small bolt cutters for offshore. Seems kinda stupid carrying them but better safe than sorry.
  15. Please also include a printed screen shot of the most current pic in the assssssssssssss thread
  16. You have a big ass truck. Pretty easy throw a couple of kayaks in the back and get in just about any water anywhere. Surprised you haves bought any yet. You can put them in the back of that panther wagon too.
  17. Not gonna lie, would buy a Surly™ Mining Co Tshirt
  18. Anyone else have a love/hate relationship with 3M 5200? Was planning making a trip offshore with my son and his friend for the first time in a long while on Saturday and was doing so minor repairs Friday at the house. I had replaced a wash down hose fitting that was leaking as I was tightening the hose I noticed it was wiggling one off the bilge pump hoses and the end of the fitting. Reached up to touch it and the fitting broke off in my hand. That's not good. Checked the other thruhulls and one of the scuppers broke off too. Dammit, cancel that trip. Kinda pissed the trip was shut down but relieved it didn't happen 15 miles offshore. I was able to get some good stainless scupper replacements off of Amazon and made a trip down to the West Marine store in Kemah to get new hose and clamps. I got the bad fittings replaced and will put in new hose tonight. In case you are wondering, acetone will take black 5200 off of your hands and out of your hair.
  19. Needs more camber.
  20. Seems to have left out one of the best performances ...
  21. Seems like we need to get that Spaceforce on one of Elon's rockets and go kick some Russian space ass!
  22. For messing around and hobby stuff, look at a dual voltage stick welder. You can checkout the a Hobart MVP 160 or a ESAB Rogue 180i at Northern Tool and I they have a Lincoln inverter unit there too. Both of these will run a 1/8” rod and can be run off of a 120 or 240V circuit. For ranch stuff you can run 3/32 rods with a small generator pretty easily for most remote repairs and you have 240v capability to run larger rods with higher duty cycles in the shop. Get a few pounds each of 3/32 & 1/8 6011, 6013, 7014 and 7018. Go by a steel yard (Steel Supply is who we use in Houston) and get some 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 drop of flat bar or sheet steel. Get your welder guy to show you some stuff and then practice running some beads like above and then move on to butt and fillet welds. Then find some shit that needs welded up and weld it. If you fuck up the weld, you can always grind it out and try again. Shits not hard, they teach it to 9th and 10 grade ag students. Or just buy an inverter Mig setup with an auto-set feature, some gas tanks and be running great beads in a couple of hours.
  23. Yeah that's a ton of pics. 6 years of summer camps when I was involved in scouts with my son and Lost Pines had the best food of any of them by far. Salad Bar, Potato Bar and Leftovers. Could definitely get your fill. Don't know how old your daughter is but if I didn't personally know adults on the trip I would have a problem with it if they didn't have a defined YPT type protocols.
  24. Best approach would be to head down to the Kemah area and catch yourself a seafood platter and a few cold beers. Maybe someplace where the bikinis are running.
