  1. It'd be a shame for Kanye because he's got talent and may be redeemable.
  2. I remember seeing it. May have ridden that. My usual method was to walk up to the counter and take whatever was heading out next.
  3. That's why it's staying with me. Didn't pay 40-50 bucks for it either. Snagged it for about 2 bucks over melt way back in low price days. Cuz I'm a Goblin.
  4. I have a 1 oz silver Trumpcoin somewhere that I was saving to give to @MaybeACoordinator just to watch him hoot and holler.
  5. You'll still be welcome there if you truly love the place. Mexico sheltered lots of Red Scare Exiled Americans in more prejudiced times than this.
  6. She sorta laid it out there as a maybe. No matter how much the waiter in Cabo laughs at our jokes, he goes home and it's still 1848.
  7. When they apply the death penalty to insurance CEOs, we'll have a coffee, and talk.
  8. What could also work, if you are not comfortable selling the piece yourself, is to scout around for a reputable dealer of fine furniture, maybe work a consignment deal with each of you getting a percentage of sales price. Your agent would have an incentive to put energy into promoting it, and you'd be worry-free if selling is not something you usually do. You'd be giving up a cut, but what's left over might be more than you'd get on your own. You could set some minimum price.
  9. First went to Monterrey in the 90s. It was Bluebird Demolition Derby back then. You better WAKE UP. Another trip, to Guadalajara, every bus driver had green eyes. It was like some caste, or one family had elbowed everybody out of the drivers' slots. Viva Galicia.
  10. I would be gathering lots of info prior to a good sale to somebody who appreciates it. Would avoid eBay, that's like an online Dollar General and you couldn't mail it anyway. You are close enough to Money in Texas that I see you eventually sending this down the road in a uhaul. Right now, gather info. Do you have friends in the antique business? Can you poke around and spy out similar items, or at least things of similar size and quality? Maybe there is a high-quality physical store with unique furniture where you could sell on consignment? I feel like this piece (antique dealers call things a "piece" ) could make you lots more money in a slow sale than a quick one.
  11. Don't blame me. I was stuck at a Birmingham art show but cheered my ass off with the two Texas fans I saw.
  12. Man, that thing is cool and I wish I knew how to price it. Would NOT sell it cheap. Seems like a unique item and the right person with crazy money would snap it up. Y'all probably know way more about antiques than I do-- I would recon recon recon before listing it anywhere.
  13. Good idea. And don't skimp on the MAG-MA.
  14. Fair enough, we'll give him a try. But we need to bulk up on pipe-hitting mission-oriented results-having malcontents too. Schedule the interviews in a closed-off part of the building and see who shows up anyway.
  15. Good idea, but I was actually thinking about encouraging all the flunkies to leave the building. Fewer complications if something, say, starts burning inside.
  16. Franklin Mint's got good value if you buy and sell it for what it's worth ie don't get it from Franklin Mint.
  17. That's one way to make the old gal pro-choice.
  18. I mighta done that on vacation, but working there on not-bad-but-still-Mexican wages I quickly started thinking in pesos. I'd ride taxis between Colima and my burb of Villa de Alvarez where I knew 2 bucks would cover trip and tip, but that was about it. The cleaning lady and I would plot where we could get the cheapest deals on oscillating fans because every peso (worth a dime then) counted. There was one on sale for 30 bucks and afternoons were hot as hell, but I watched the sky and knew the rainy season was near, and never broke down for a fan. Still got that 300 pesos, weyyyy.
  19. Still could have flicked a farthing to the small crippled child.
  20. Unless they're Uruk-Redditors they wouldn't be able to bear up under sunlight.
  21. Y'know, it HAS been forever since I visited a Scrip Club...
  22. Understood, good idea. But we still need something to drop on the smoke break area.
  23. You're hired. Now let's throw all the uncomfortable chairs out the window.
