  1. The amount of candy and sweets casually passed out to every child in the country between Halloween, birthday pinatas, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's, Easter, etc. is insane. Literal buckets worth. Legitimately, between October and April, if we kept our stash and kept accumulating it, there's no way we'd run out if we gave each of our kids 3 pieces a night. We let them pick they're 2 or 3 favorites from each event, donate the rest, then spread their distribution to maybe one or two per week, depending on behavior. Dessert isn't an expectation. If they're still hungry after dinner, they're always allowed to have fruit. They've gotten to a point where they wouldn't eat multiple treats at once even if they could because it's "too sweet." I can't imagine the households that are holding onto all the candy. Even for kids with great metabolism, the bad habits are ingrained early.
  2. I can't imagine where you'd have to be in life to care that you're missing out on a few minutes of Jimmy Smits powerhouse acting in an ancillary role.
  3. Have you thanked the administration yet for the thrill of getting to live life on the edge while performing previously mundane tasks?
  4. Solo parenting this week. 3 and 5. Fast forward to 7:31 PDT tonight:
  5. Then what the hell is the puka shell necklace for???
  6. Reminds me of the Game of Thrones and The Americans threads. Surly old men sure love them some technically legal actresses portraying 15 year olds but who look 12. Not creepy at all.
  7. Can we just fast forward to the part where it becomes mandatory for all elementary schools to teach that the Clinton's, Obama, and Biden conspired together to do a 9/11, and, when it didn't work to destroy the country, they immediately started planning COVID. Why delay the inevitable.
  8. Yep. I put the over/under at 2.5 for how many more episodes a living, breathing Pascal will appear in.
  9. My issue with her casting isn't with her attractiveness or acting, rather the believability when she inevitably starts killing folks left and right. She was great in Season 1 and totally believable as a mature for age, smart-mouthed 14 year old. But now her anger and rage has to carry the show, and it's almost impossible to see her as anything other than a little girl. The toned Abby way, way down from the game version probably to make their rivalry more "fair". That said, the list of actresses that could believably portray a middle schooler and Terminator 2 Linda Hamilton within two calendar years is probably non-existent.
  10. This season is going to be about killing other humans, not surviving zombies. Need that sympathetic moment for the main character to go John Wick.
  11. The power of "At the end of the day, I just don't want to get fired" should not be underestimated. Even from our military leaders.
  12. Conversely, defense does indeed win championships.* *so long as you also have one of the best players on earth on your roster
  13. Absolutely. This is going to be a slugfest. I feel like Golden State played close to perfectly, and it was still tight in the 4th. They have absolutely zero offensive generation from anyone other than Steph and Jimmy. I'm not sure who's going up hit 3's for Houston, but they'll do better than 20% on Wednesday.
  14. I don't see how anyone consistently beats KD in 1v1 competition.
  15. To acknowledge that Playoff Jimmy is absolutely a thing is also acknowledging that he's taken off virtually every regular season of his career.
  16. The drafting and player development since the (checks notes) 2012 draft has been abysmal. The highlight from then on has been...keeping Jordan Poole relatively in check for a couple of years.
  17. Keep shooting, Fred!
  18. Steve Kerr has absolutely destroyed the development of probably a dozen young dudes. Maybe they were never destined for shit and Kerr realized that early, but Kuminga not being able to get any run when Podz is your 3rd best offensive player??
  19. Steven Adams free throw attempts reminding me why the most physically intimating player in the league is on his 4th team.
  20. It's next to impossible to get blown out when you absolutely dominate the offensive glass.
  21. I'm not sure if the math checks out, but I feel like Steven Adams has always gotten 113% of all available offensive rebounds against the Warriors.
  22. I don't know. Oscar and Max were pretty dead even on lap times (which has to be encouraging for Red Bull). I think a stationary start was about the only chance either one of them had at passing each other on that track.
  23. I mean, he is. But, and I feel like I say this every year around this time, I completely understand why his jackassery has cost him the on-court reputation that he should have.
