  1. Electricians charge $100 an hour or more, a strand of lights is about $5. Thought about throwing away the lights and getting a new strand?
  2. another poster gave me shit about it a few weeks ago, then totaled his car a few days later, so be warned
  3. Have very similar car preferences as you. Over the last 20 years have driven only tahoes, mercedes sedans and toyota trucks. Rather than getting a nice newer truck or car I went with older both. I have a 2012 FJ Cruiser for pulling the boat, camping, beach, lake, taking the dogs, home depot and short trips. I do like the new land cruisers and broncos, and may get one after this dies. Has 144k miles and now that I have the other car am only putting 5k miles a year, so it should last for a while. I have a 2018 e300 for longer trips. Yes maintenance can cost a lot, but compared to buying a newer one I could spend $3k in repairs for the next 10 years and still come out ahead of buying a new one. Mine has 82k miles and I got it for $17k, new ones are $50k. This is the 5th E I've had. They do start falling apart around 120k miles, but have had good experiences from 50-120k. I found a oil change place that lets you bring your oil and filter and does the change for $60, saving a few hundred over the dealer or nice shop. I'd do it myself but it's a huge pain to remove the skid plates. There's something about Mercedes sedans that just seems better than any other car. I think @TwiceHorn described it as "design aesthetics" Everything just seems to be in the right place, seats are comfortable and better adjusting than any other, and it's great on the highway.
  4. My favorite part of the 4 way cross is there is always a few hats and an instrument or two on the ground after they do it.
  5. Really enjoyed Secret Level on Amazon, thanks to those above that recommended, The warhammer 40k episode is a work of art.
  6. In the late 90's I worked at Motorola Fab off of William Cannon/290/71. I turned right off 290/71 on to William Cannon one morning around 6am and as I was passing through the wooded area the creek runs through heard a thud and figured I hit a deer. I stopped and looked at the front of my truck and saw nothing. As I was walking back to get into the truck I saw the deer lying in the road and noticed the dent in my door. He looked at me and took off into the woods. A couple seconds later a mountain lion came out of the woods and crossed the road chasing after the deer. Told the story to the guy I was taking over for expecting him to ask me if I was drinking or something, instead he said yep, sounds right. He lived not far from there and had seen the mountain lion walking on his fence multiple times. A few weeks later there was a story in the statesman about the rumor of a big cat living in south Austin. Hundreds of people wrote in saying they had seen it.
  7. she’s getting to play with her duck, why can I not get all of my bones now?
  8. The amazing thing about that play is he's fully engaged with an olineman, the RB has a full head of steam, runs into him and he doesn't give up an inch.
  9. Is the color commentator calling in?
  10. It's a college team vs a high school team. 25 kids on NC with D1 offers, and they are pretty well coached to boot.
  11. I did something similar at the heart hospital of Austin. Was given a 100% clean report from them. I had a heart attack less than a year later.
  12. They had a bad recruiting class?
  13. They looked bigger and faster than most of the teams Westlake played this year.
  14. The company I work for is in a similar situation with employees spread out. We ended up going with insperity and let them handle all that shit. No idea what it costs, I'm sure it's expensive but I haven't heard any complaints from the worker bees. Our employees in Texas have UHC, ones in Maryland and Virginia have BCBS, not sure what the others have but they manage the plans based on state the employee lives in. The rates for the employee are somewhat reasonable.

    Colonoscopy

Went to Maudies after mine. Finished off chips and queso, Sausage Migas and 2 pete's tacos.
  16. yeah, I was thrilled when I heard Craig Westlake wins 35-10
  17. This may be the best game he's ever played
  18. Not really fair competition. Westlake bigger, stronger and faster at every position according to @Helobious
