  1. It was fantastic. Flying into Santa Rosa is the only way to go!
  2. Joke's on you...she's the one with the outrageous earnings. I'm happy to be along for the ride. I'm worth more dead than alive, it seems, so maybe I'll help fund her retirement coffers one day (when I can no longer get it up and she decides to kill me).
  3. Just to be clear...which one is which?
  4. During my 6 year purgatory in Lufkin, I could easily score Weller (almost) year-round in Nacogdoches. Got spoiled with that. You can find Weller SR and Weller 12 in just about any bar in Dallas, and then a smattering of the other labels off-and-on. They never seem to be on a retail shelf, though. My current favorite go-to move when I'm fucking off in the afternoon, however, is to go sit at Reno's Chop Shop in Deep Ellum and sip cheap pours of Weller 12 (served in a plastic cup) while rocking out and debating playlists with the bartender. I also have one VERY unexpected place where I spied a brand new bottle of William Larue Weller sitting in a corner, and they charge me $50 for a generous pour. I have slowly been killing that bottle. Not sure how/why they have it, but I've been taking advantage of that shit. Dammit...now I want a Weller...!
  5. Showed up in my independent joint in Dallas right before Labor Day. Scored a few handles for myself to get me through Fall. Hard to come by in Dallas, and I'm still not coming to terms with that.
  6. We are not cruise people either, but we did sign up for a Viking river cruise in December 2026, with first class travel and accommodations all the way through, (so I doubt we'll be suffering). Cruise runs from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland. We expect to be hanging with the olds (we'll be 55 and 41, by the way), but not planning on it interfering with our enjoyment of whatever excursions we book or our ability to just fuck around in the various Christmas markets. Really just going to soak up some atmosphere and scenery, regardless of whatever speed or activity level we're forced to move at. Wife's French is damn good, and I've been brushing up on my German, so, we're hoping not to be the average dumbass 'Murican tourist. Should be interesting... Your vacation sounds amazing, by the way. Seems like you did it right. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Hooke game was my first thought. Not in town. i’ll check out Railroad again. Been awhile since I set foot in there. Hell, I still miss the original Hofbrau.
  8. It would be ‘86 all over again!
  9. What about WHILE wiping your ass? My time is precious, and I like to multi-task.
  10. From what I can tell, Water Street Seafood Restaurant is no longer there, but the Oyster Bar is? Along with Executive Surf Club? I'll probably pop into both while I'm wandering around. Best restaurants downtown used to be Vietnam or Republic Of Texas. Anyone know of any other decent places for a "treat myself" type dinner?
  11. Sadly, that is what I figured.
  12. Returning to my hometown for the first time in a decade. Two nights at the Omni. Just gonna explore, goof off, and catch a Sunday night show at House Of Rock. Anything interesting downtown that I should know about?
  13. I go there quite often to visit my best buddy. He usually has the corporate hookup for concerts at the AMP. I usually don't pay attention to where we are (Rogers, Bentonville, Fayetteville) in our spare time wanderings, but he has taken me to some awesome places over the years for food and drink there. My faves: Wright BBQ, Bentonville Brewing, Tusk & Trotter Rest In Peace, AQ Chicken (loved that shit!). That's all I got.
  14. I have a friend who is an absolute Disney nut and specializes in these. She has serious personal and professional knowledge about every facet of anything to do with a Disney vacation. pirateandpixiedustdestinations.com Natalie Jansing is her name, if you look at the list of agents. She's a very solid, reliable individual.
  15. You've barely been to San Antonio.
  16. Wife's been pushing me to think about my next birthday trip. We are definitely planners who normally have our lives booked out about 18 months ahead, but still. Birthday is not 'til February for fucksake, and I don't really consider 55 to be a "milestone birthday", but she's excited about it, so...whatever. Had some flight vouchers expiring soon and no other unpurchased airfare on the horizon, so we pulled the trigger on a return to NOLA. It has been 2 years, and we normally go a few times a year, so...long overdue. Quick flight in First Class, gotta call our private driver to make sure he's still in business, booked a Club Level room at the Ritz. Blowjobs-and-Po-Boys-and-Jazz, oh my! Life ain't too bad, after all...!
  17. Remember when Vic got called out and doxxed by that wanna-be gangster we were all following and making fun of? Good times...!
  18. This is excellent validation for our first DFW-STS flight in two weeks. Thanks!

    Colonoscopy

Yep...she's awesome! She was 25, I was 40. Who knew? That was 2011.....
  20. Tempting...but I'll stick with what I got. She's definitely a keeper. And the kinda girl you don't see coming. I'm lucky to have her. Although, I do get older and my wives seem to stay the same age...(alright, alright, alright!) We've got 14 years in, married for 11. My ex-wife and I had 16 years in and 13 married (she was 39 when we parted), so there will be another milestone to accomplish in a few years. Anyway...back on track...Calistoga, here we come!...in 2 weeks!
  21. Seems kinda lame to necro-bump my own post, but Napa is coming up. Looking forward to a good time. Kinda nervous, though...never had a 40 year old wife before. How will I live.....?

    Colonoscopy

When I got my first one 5 years ago, it was 25 miles away and they were adamant I have someone drive me there and back. My doctor wife was working 25-28 days a month at her hospital and told me to schedule it on one of the few days off she had scheduled...her 35th birthday. I booked in first, which means we had to get up at 4am on one of her only days off so she could cool her heels in the parking lot (COVID, remember?) while I got probed. The doc actually came out into the parking lot to give the prelim details and schedule the follow-up appointment like a car-hop. I felt bad, but, for whatever reason, she loves me and was happy to do it. When I got in the car, she asked, "How do you feel? What do you need?" I said, "Take me to Whataburger." That 9am Double-Meat Double-Cheese w/ Jalapenos, Large Fries, and Vanilla Malt hit so hard. And then...the nap. The resulting gas was glorious. Happy Birthday, baby! Good times.....
  23. I'm not too excited about it, but I figure there might be a small payday if they start selling off pieces, spinning off, tweaking their financials, etc. What I AM excited about is the Honeywell divestiture. I've done well on the GE three-way split, also on the Kellogg thing (to a lesser degree). Hoping to jump on this bandwagon, too.
  24. I cashed out and took my profits from Kellanova and WK Kellogg today. Patted myself on the back for a bit and then dumped all the proceeds into Honeywell. I plan on dumping as much as I can for the rest of the year there and Kraft Heinz while they figure out what to do with themselves.
  25. I had my Emergency cash in HYSA, but started putting extra cash in VCRM because of...taxes! Now that HYSA rates have started coming down, I moved 2/3 of our emergency fund into VCRM. Currently yielding HYSA rates without worrying about paying taxes on what's gained. Vanguard has a few Muni-Bond funds to look at, both passively and actively managed. Your mileage may vary, but check them out.
