  1. Mattress: that's some funny shit, you magnificent OCD bastard...ha! Kitchen: I'm referring to "room cleaning" which is basically vac and mop, and may or may not involved dusting hard surface and fixtures, baseboards, or whatever the "room" needs. Even though there's just 2 of us, I/We cook a lot, so washing pots, wiping counters, loading and unloading dishwasher, wiping counters, etc. is a just part of the daily grind. Your sink sprayer: are you sure there's not some filter of some kind in there that's helping to gum up the works? Or we're assuming that it's a bit of hard-water corrosion making that switch stick. Personally, I would totally soak that fucker in CLR, but, man...I really hesitate to tell ya that your finish will be just fine, and then look like an asshole. When you read the label on CLR, however, it will tell you that it's just fine on sink and shower fixtures, and the various materials that are inside your sprayer. Personally, I've never ruined anything with CLR, but there's always a first time, I guess.
  2. Absolutely. Don't mind sharing at all. It ain't rocket science, but it keeps me on track. It started years ago when I had to remember to give the dog the monthly heart/flea chew. Oh yeah, when I do that, I should check THIS, do THAT, and then it just became a checklist from there. I'm sure you can come up with a million stupid things that you need to do around your house on a regular basis. This process just ensures that shit gets done, looked at, inspected, cleaned, replaced, whatever. Monthly: check/change AC filters and closet Damprids, run clean cycle on dishwasher, vac/rotate/flip couch cushions and recliners (I've got 3 sectionals) Even Months: Change Dyson & Roomba filters (inspect brushes and replace as necessary) Quarterly: Flea pill for cat, descale coffee maker, clean grinder, run clean cycle on washing machine, check dryer vent, change Sonicare heads, wash mattress pad, charge emergency car kits Semi-annually: Rotate mattresses, clean all water aerators Annually: Change batteries and check all detectors (garage door pad, too), replace fridge water filter. As far as my house routine: Monday: Towels. Clean Kitchen/Breakfast Nook/Hall Tuesday: Dining Room & Game Room Wednesday: Trash. Sheets. Bath mats. Clean Master suite Thursday: Living Room & Front Room Friday: Bathrooms Saturday: Spare Rooms and Hall Sunday: Catch up or fuck off. Don't know if any of this helps, but hey...we're all Domestic Gods here, right?
  3. Gonna be driving from Sacramento to Calistoga. How’s the drive. The fastest route (not direct at all) takes me I-80 thru Vacaville, south of Fairfield, exiting thru Creston and then taking 29 up thru Napa and all the way up to Calistoga. Or…from the airport, I can head west to Winters and then bob & weave along the south side of Lake Berryessa. Direct route, but evidently quite a bit slower. Wife gets kinda carsick. Should I just stick to the interstate? Or are we missing an opportunity for a beautiful drive?
  4. This makes for an interesting thread, especially considering the diversity of this group. I've been the "homemaker" at our place for the past 9 years. Over the past few years, I've had two of my friends take over home duties as well, and they've come to me for advice on their routine and house management. It helps to have a routine. I've got house divided into 6 grids. Something gets cleaned every day, even if I'm half-assing it. If you miss a day or a grid, that's what day 7 is for, but I also don't play catch-up if I miss something. If I miss a grid one week, I just deal with it the next. Forward progress is the key, otherwise it will all fall apart. I do towels on a routine, same for sheets. I also have a list of specific things that get checked off every 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 180 days, and annually. I handle the shopping, the cooking, the laundry, etc. Fortunately, I have very few outdoor chores to tend to, so lawn maintenance is not much of an issue. As far as my wife, she loves it. She works and manages her career. I take care of the rest. When she's off, we do whatever the hell we want. Considering that she works in chunks, it's nice that I'm free when she wants to goof off or travel. And...somehow...food magically appears in the pantry or fridge, clothes magically appear in the closet. She's more than capable of helping, but I very rarely ask her to pitch in. To be fair, she's very grateful, and deals with my few demands without question or complaint (put your dirties HERE, keep these things HERE, give me 2 days notice if you're running out of something I didn't already catch, etc.). Not having kids (obviously) makes it easier. I have a buddy who is retired military and he takes care of dogs, two kids (with all their various activities), and the household duties while his wife bangs out the last few years at her (excellent) job. It helps that he's a highly organized and driven mofo. Basically, he's one big and buff soccer-mom. I can elaborate further, but only if anyone give a shit. I will stick to the original OP post by contributing however. Most of our place gets cleaned with 409, and especially in the kitchen. Simple, old-school, and effective. SOS pads get the stubborn stuff off the bottom of my pots and pans without much effort. And I abuse the crap out of my cookware...
  5. Fantastic pics. Much thanks for sharing. How was Kitty Fisher's?
  6. How much time did you waste writing that reply and repeating yourself all over again?
  7. Is your time worth nothing? After 4+ years, you really just wanna piece of that, huh? I'll acknowledge that getting fucked out of ANY money sucks, but...c'mon. How much time are you actually willing to squander on this?
  8. I foresaw this. It was only a matter of time before Buck saw it and started whipping his capsaicin-proof dick around in a pinwheel, shouting, "Look at me! I'm a real man!" Jesus Christ.....
  9. Those dicks don’t suck themselves, ya know?
  10. Running through the car wash every 2nd or 3rd day lately. My $25 Smitty's membership is definitely paying off.
  11. Wise words. Currently living in Lufkin, and the people here…definitely a mixed bag.
  12. Lotsa loose women in the Quad Cities. Good times…
  13. I've been gone a long time, but Pier 99 and Blackbeards have been fixtures on North Beach for forever. If you don't feel like crossing the bridge multiple times to get back and forth to the Whataburger, those could be possible lunch option before doing the Lex.
  14. Slave To The Thrill is a personal favorite of mine. And also Kelly’s Perfect World album. Damn good stuff from a great guy.
  15. Wife has it for the 5th or 6th time. Previous times, she just shook it off. We’ve been traveling a bit and dealing with the usual allergy issues with all the recent weather changes. Her scratchy throat and congestion turned into a cold. She worked through it all, sicker every day. Finally, she went to the doctor Friday morn because she could feel in her face and ear that she was getting a sinus infection. Her doc tested her. Positive. Came home with Paxlovid, Cipro, steroids, ear drops, and Albuterol and collapsed on the couch for the weekend. Lotsa decongestant and Mucinex as well. Just now starting to feel worth a damn. The shit she’s coughing up is the consistency of Elmer’s glue. Unreal. Somehow, I have dodged this bullet. Maybe because I got the bi-variant Moderna 4th shot and she didn’t? Who knows? Or maybe because she’s around it every damn day. This virus blows.
  16. Headed back to town for the first time since last May. Last time was a buddy-trip; this time a wife-trip. Driving in Thursday, staying at The Westin downtown. Apps and light dinner at Eddie V's (worth it?), then front row for Itzhak Perlman at The Long Center. Not headed home until Monday, and not much on the agenda except rabble-rousing, shenanigans, and general mayhem: Friday evening: res at Midnight Cowboy, then burgers and drunkenness at Casino El Camino. Sunday: Dim Sum Brunch at Wu Chow. All my old haunts don't exist anymore. Will gladly take recommendations on downtown dive bars, lounges, taco joints, breakfast places. We plan on staying on foot (or a short Uber). Anybody else goofing off downtown? Will gladly pick up a round. Anyone up for a Surly HH?
  17. We are normally Bonvoy points whores, but got tired of staying in The Fairfield, which is the only Bonvoy property there. However...IF you are Marriott member, check out the Homes & Villas in the area. If you're not Marriott, well...just disregard. If you don't mind the noise, I've stayed above the Brewery before. Also, the Winchester Lodge has some interesting room options.
  18. Saw Marc Broussard at the Dosey Doe in The Woodlands last night. Played there last Valentine’s weekend as well. Was a damn good time. So much soul in that white boy.
  19. Old gf of mine is a bar manager there. I pop in to catch up with her when I’m there. Place is always a little shittier than it was the time before.
  20. I figured I would start with the casino, piss away the mortgage, buy drinks for hookers, etc. An interesting bar or food rec would not hurt, though. Would prefer divey locals joints than the touristy stuff. Nice to know the hotel is decent. Thanks!
  21. Bumping this. Gonna be stuck in Bossier City at the Marriott Courtyard on the boardwalk for 3 days next week. Looks like I'm sandwiched between a casino and an outlet mall. I'm usually pretty savvy at getting out and exploring on my own, but does anyone have anything interesting to get into there?
