  1. I looked at that quickly and thought “what does Helen Hunt have to do with Russ, or Seattle?”
  2. Saw it last night. Somebody said it already but I liked Pattinson as Batman but didn’t like his Bruce Wayne. My guess is this was by design and (especially given his interactions with Alfred) that changes for the next installments as he grows. Action sequences were good. Is the Batman suit always been able to just walk through gunfire? I always thought Batman’s thing was coming out of the shadows, being elusive so no one gets a direct shot on him. This was Terminator Batman in that he was just coming straight ahead most times. Acting was good all around. Dano, Farrell, Wright, etc. Definitely can cut things out. Just clean up the time spent “lingering” on shots and you probably save 20 minutes. It was (and felt) very long. Very much a Se7en feel.
  3. Have a quick one day stop in Lexington. Any recs on must-sees? Eateries?
  4. Really liked it. Nelson killed it and Dorff was very good as the long-winded antagonist. Funny with two John Wick mentions upthread; my son said that. I didn’t mind atall. Curry was a stinking bullet magnet. Regarding Wyatt - I think he was cast/characterized this way intentionally. Showing Henry trying to raise his boy to be “different” in the changing world (and succeeding). Henry succeeding at shedding his old life and raising a son to thrive in a world that he didn’t feel like he belonged in any more.
  5. I don’t know if it was that bad, but I certainly don’t understand all the love it gets. Agree 100% with all of the JoJo Rabbit nods. Most people I’ve talked to dismiss it when they hear the premise and wont watch it, but they are missing out big time.
  6. Old Henry - Really liked it a lot. Great performance by Nelson in the lead. Showtime has it right now.
  7. Radiohead - Let Down Alice In Chains - Nutshell Smiths - Asleep
  8. Leslie Jones aside, Waititi is batting 1.000 with everything I’ve seen of his so I’ll check this out. Plus Murray.
  9. Chasing Mavericks with Gerard Butler as a crusty surfer who coaches the neighbor kid without a dad how to prepare to surf Mavericks. Cheesy but it sucked me in enough to watch to the end. Based on a true story so I held off on spoilers.
  10. Went to this event on Saturday (first live MMA event I’ve been to). Really fun. Thoughts: UFC puts on a good show. No one works harder than Bruce Buffer. When the fight is not on, he’s always on the move. Walking around, talking to people, staying loose, etc. Took pics with everyone that came up to the rail. A LOT of fighters making their UFC debut. Only stinker in my mind was Gravely v. Oliveira. Frevola just steamrolled (ha!) his opponent. Dude took a beating and was tough as hell (probably too tough for his own good). Australian dude was impressive. In the lady fight, the girl got dropped hard but recovered and got the sub. Pretty crazy turnaround. Victor Henry took right on short notice and took just a bit to adjust then had a great fight. That was a “busy” fight Michael Morales might be a problem in the division. Young dude. Stamann looked like he was going to retire after getting subbed in under a minute. Said was like looking around when ref is asking him if he’s ready and then just caught him quick. Argentine dude needs to learn how to move. Pereira does a lot of unnecessary stuff but he’s entertaining Pops for Moreno were crazy. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they called that fight either way. Fig definitely landed the harder shots and the leg kicks looked worse because Moreno was always looking off balance. Fun fight. Crowd definitely lost juice after that one. Seeing the HWs in the ring after the little guys is a shock. Massive. I thought Gane had more tools, but I think too inexperienced here. Definitely looked super gassed around the 3rd. Francis is just so freaking strong. Surprised at his ability to dominate on the ground. Thought Gane screwed up going for the leg at some point. A lot of weed smell in the building. Loudest celebrity pop of the night to Iron Mike
  11. Finally saw this. I’ll give them credit for jamming a bunch into one movie. But overall this was pretty meh. Agreed with those that mentioned that this would have been perfect for D+ series. They had absolutely no need to go grab “names” for this project - in fact, I would say the “act persons” that I don’t know (Gil, the fast girl, even sersei) we’re more appealing than the names / people I recognized. Use D+ shows to make stars and then set up movies. This is on the lower tier of Marvel for me. Down with the first two Thor movies, IM2 and IM3, black widow, etc. Since no one is reading this thread anyway, I won’t spoiler it, but how does Blade fit in with Moon Knight?
  12. If this isn’t the final nail in the coffin for Lake, then UW admin will finally accomplish their goal of killing the football program. This guy has been nothing but a disaster since taking over - moronic quotes, lazy hires, roster management / depth chart dumbassery, doesn’t recruit, etc. He gave them a golden opportunity to fire him with cause, if they don’t take it.... In next press conference someone should ask him if that’s what he tried with Marcus Peters 😂
  13. Finally caught Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Thought it was great.
  14. For supposedly being a high level jiu jitsu guy, Ortega never seems to use it. And he still eats a ton of shots. I feel like corners don’t do a good enough job of protecting their fighters. I’m all for giving your guy a chance but if he’s just taking a beating they’ve gotta step in and say “it’s not your night.” Like Ortega v. Holloway, Ferguson vs Gaethje or that kid recently against OMalley.
  15. Finally saw today. Family and I really enjoyed it. Probably the best thing Marvel has put out since Endgame. Shang Chi’s dad was one of better antagonists we’ve had.
  16. So my criteria here are movies that either a lot of people haven’t seen or are movies that people don’t name when you ask them to name their favorite movies but then when you bring them up, they say “oh yeah, I like that movie too.” Road to Perdition Layer Cake Hostiles Again these may be well reviewed and people like them if they’ve seen them, but aren’t ever brought up in “favorites” lists that I see so I consider them underrated.
  17. Commercials that have the voice person whisper. Drives me up the wall. Noticed BK has one while watching games this weekend.
  18. Isn’t Boise better than half of the Big 12 as well?
  19. Costanza Troy & Abed Too many from the Wire but I’d say Slim Charles, Stringer Bell, Lester Freamon and Chris Partlow Ron Swanson Recent watch - Lance Stater its funny for as much as I liked the US Office, I can’t put one character on this list. probably went too many seasons or I would say Dwight Ron Donald gets an honorable mention
  20. Yeah that last leg kick he took you could just see him looking for the exit. He got hit so squarely in the eye he was looking for an eye poke. Twice. Not a good matchup for him i just don’t see him ever beating Frances, Gane, Stipe or Jones if he ever moves up and fights. But Lewis has a niche and he can earn money. He’ll always be a legend for “my balls was hot”
