  1. Nansen's the LB coach - and co-DC for whatever that's worth. I'm assuming Blackshire transfer at least had his okay. Has he said anything at all about it?
  2. Sure, but does it have a Six-function MultiPro tailgate?

    Getting old sucks

I've not had to go through this sort of physical pain, at least not for such length of time. I can - sort of - imagine, but... In short-term situations, something that helps is using the idea that it's very difficult to NOT think about or feel something. The classic example is "don't think about your left ankle", which of course leads directly to thinking about your left ankle. BUT... you can replace that thought by thinking about something else - your finger, your eyeball, your dick... lots of possibilities. The more concentration you can focus on that alternative, the less the main thing gets through. I've found a subject for that alternative that works for a lot of "don't think about X" issues. Try to feel your pulse in your feet. Sometimes your heartbeat is strong enough that it's easy, but in any event, it's there. It may take some time to feel it, but that's a Good Thing. Doesn't have to be a foot... hand, nose, ear. It's worth a shot.
  4. It doesn't take cunning to see that JOVE = IOUE = YOWAY = YAHWEH, but it's not obvious. Simply noticing that the word "Jesus" is said aloud differently in Spanish and English should be a starting place...

Damn. Wrong weekend for this shit. Hang tough, man. Def thinking of you.
  6. For the Jews, the new day begins - or used to begin - at sundown - and the practice was widespread. We keep it in some instances today. It's why we have "Christmas EVE" and "Hallow E'EN". The Eve is the beginning of day. So... Friday after sundown, in the Olden Ways, is Saturday. Also, someone pointed out that Latin alphabet had no "J", so that Jehovah was written with an "I". There's more to that: Latin also had no "V" as we use it today for the voiced "F" sound, and the letter "V" apparently was more of a "U" or "W" sound as we use them today. Phonetically, it seems that the name likely sounded like YahWay. Here's where it gets interesting. The Romans were supposedly quite tolerant of various religious beliefs, but they had their own chief God, whom they called Jove, same as the name of the planet Jupiter, or Zeus Pater. But - here you go again. No "J" and no "V-sound", so Jove is actually written as IOUE, and likely pronounced YohWay... which I'd say is pretty damn close to YahWay. Your mileage may vary. Go hunt for the egg-laying rabbits, now. The best part is they lay hard-boiled eggs. Well, and chocolate ones, too.
  7. Moon Pie talk not going away.
  8. Yeah, I took a look at prices on Amazon. At under 50 cents a quart/liter for the little cartridges, I'm looking at it pretty seriously for this summer's refreshers - half a lime squeezed into the glass and rubbed on the rim, shot of gin or vodka, coupla ice cubes, fill it up with seltzer... mmmmmm.
  9. Got too wired up thinking about an RC and a Moon Pie on a hot summer's day to notice typo-affliction. Say... who's up for a Jolt 'steada that RC?
  10. Hopefully, PT is the only issue related to possible transfers. NIL $$$ should be our wheelhouse, and we should not be losing that battle. Bottom line, if Sark says "let's keep this guy", the wallets open up.
  11. It's hard to trust a man who eschews Dr. Pepper. Probably never had an RC. Much less a Dub. What in God's name does he use to wash down hos Moon Pie?
  12. So you prefer sparkling water with flavoring, right? Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper... like that? Mmmm-mmm! Mmmanly!
  13. I checked the font of all pricing, Amazon. Looks to me like the singles are less expensive per drink unit. There, anyway.
  14. At what cost? Those are big co2 bottles, right? And they have to be (or is it "can" be?) refilled?
  15. I've not done any seltzer makers in a good while, but is there some advantage to this soda stream type over the old seltzer bottles with a small co2 bottle for a liter at a time? I think the old ones work out to around 60 cents a liter, and you don't have to trade in the bottles.
  16. ... and our Motto will be ... Enabling Aggy Since '24
  17. Take a leaf from the Canadian Football rule book, and give the kicking team a point if the ball isn't returned from the end zone. Run it out or give up a point. Used to call it a Rouge, maybe still do.
  18. Nice one. I liked the systems with a little console gadget on the tables, where you could plunk in your coins and pick songs to play without having to walk all the way over to the juke box itself.
  19. These records made their appearance in the 1950s, were/are played at 45 rpm and made of plastic. The previous generation of record players (and the following 33 1/3 rpm "album" records) had/have a very small central hole, and were not nearly as stable when stacked on the player's spindle. The bigger hole was more stable for stacked records and easier for the jukebox player mechanism to get on the spindle. When I bought my first record player, they threw in two "free" 45s. For my choice, I picked a Porter Waggoner song called "It Tickles" and one called "Heartbreak Hotel". I really wanted Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in C# minor, but it was only available on 78s.
