  1. The rite of fatherly passage. I put together a large trampoline at night a few years ago. I kind of cheated and pre assembled some pieces during the day, but the major construction happened around midnight. I had a flashlight, some decent instructions, and a bottle of bourbon to keep me company. In the morning the kids flipped out when they saw it in the backyard and ran out to see it. Just before scrambling in my wife yelled "WAIT!" She noticed some unused bolts on the kitchen counter, and upon closer inspection of the trampoline, noticed the safety pads not installed (springs and metal bars open and ready to tear into youthful skin), and the safety netting was kind of hanging loose like an afterthought. There was also a bourbon bottle reduced by about 2/3 laying in the grass. She looked at me like WTF?? "Hold up kids, looks like Santa didn't have the time to finish it up, give me a sec." So it took me another hour that morning to finish. Sucked, because I was really hungover.
  2. This show kicks all kinds of ass. I agree with above, with all the hardcore stuff this guy pulls, I'd imagine the cops would be circling quite often. However, I really don't give a shit, because I like the show (and the character) that much. Fingers crossed for a Season 3.
  3. Just caught this. I copied the article and put it in an email to her, but just before I hit send I started shaking and sweating. There is no fucking way in hell I'm sending that to her. It will somehow be my fault, I just know it. I will be called the Killer of Dreams, among other things. Believe it or not she's still working on the fucking prototype with some firm in the Bay Area. Let them tell her about it.
  4. Lilyhammer. This was discussed a bit on TOS years ago, but it's popped up again on my NF home screen. I'm watching it again and it's just as good the second time around. Odd but entertaining as hell. Highly recommend.
  5. Thanks! Well that's the hope isn't it, pick a shop that has some respect in their final product. In reality it seems like a 50/50 prospect; every shop I researched had some positives and negatives. I went with a shop that estimated on the high side ($9k, not counting any significant rust issues) for some peace of mind, but honestly, I don't know what to expect. I'm prepared to trailer it right the fuck out next week if I don't like what I see or hear from the owner. Fingers crossed.
  6. Got the car blasted this week, and off to the paint shop. Hopefully she comes back home in a few weeks looking like this (without the bling, which I'll be installing)
  7. This thread was inspirational. I went for it yesterday and made egg nog following the Alton Brown recipe. Holy shit, I feel like a Philistine. Had some store bought in the fridge and almost had to spit it out after drinking the homemade. Cheers.
  8. This dude says fuck Peloton. He'll train for the Tour de France on the mean streets, thank you very much.
  9. Bullitt Mustang coming to auction https://barnfinds.com/most-expensive-muscle-car-ever-1968-ford-bullitt-mustang
  10. It's not the definition of insanity, it's the definition of hubris, fear, and self preservation.
  11. Cannot: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Cool Hand Luke Bullitt Remake: 1A Jason and the Argonauts 1B The Birds *best Halloween costume I've ever scene was a girl with bent coat wires connected to her costume. she had fake birds on them and whenever someone would ask, who are you? she'd flail her arms and the birds would slide around, seemingly attacking her.*
  12. That's it. I'm going back and rewatching all of them. Fucking genius. One of my My favorite scenes is the following (the Richard Lewis clip is up there, along with many others). Watch the first few seconds then fast forward to the 2 minute mark.
  13. The Team is Not Back Hear it Again Kick Your Balls Win something asshole
  14. Get out your notebook, there's more. Your lives are in danger.
  15. Schiff is my Congressman, and I'm proud to have him as my representative. He's a a perfect representation of "We are better than that," but unfortunately around 40% of this country isn't, due to ignorance, misguided ways, or plain selfish corruption. But Democrats seem to be bringing knives to a gun fight. Republicans are willing to do whatever is necessary, including bringing in a foreign nation to assist them in their agenda and power grab. Lying, cheating, gerrymandering - whatever the fuck it takes. Yet Shiff's final response is, "We are better than that." Yeah I get it's a nice nod to Cummings, but Schiff is trying to appeal to a vision that seems a little out of reach right now. I'm leaning toward bringing a Howitzer to the gun fight from here out. Not sure how to do it, but it's time.
  16. Great movie. Bale was awesome. They did a great job shooting the race scenes, swooping in and out. Really felt as if you were right there in the thick of things. csb1 I tracked my old M4 at Willow Springs. It's a fun/fast track, lots of opportunity to pass (and be passed) /csb csb2 Just before the events here Shelby broke off a partnership with DeTomaso to build a race car. DeTomaso went on to build it on his own and called it Mangusta, or Mongoose, as in the animal that can kill a Cobra. /csb
  17. I see some Vantage similarities
  18. All stock. It's a numbers matching car so I'm trying to limit modifications. Also it will be a weekend cruiser with my son, nothing crazy. I am thinking of upgrading the 3.0 peg leg rear though. Probably drive it awhile before I decide to upgrade or not.
  19. In the Classic Car thread. It's in pieces at the moment, but off to the paint shop within the month.
  20. I've just been notified that my wife has invited my elderly, eccentric mom to T Day this year. I immediately assigned each family member the task of picking up no less than 100 wadded up and randomly discarded paper towels by my mom. I figure that way we have a fighting chance of not ending up on the show Hoarders by the time she leaves. Fuck me, I still have PTSD from her last visit. We had an Island of Misfit Toys Thanksgiving, single people with no local family, people who had to work and couldn't travel. Everyone had a dish they would work on. I got the bird, wife got whatever, and my mom? She got the mashed potatoes. In the Universe's timeline of Thanksgiving food, mashed potatoes would be the length of time modern man has existed, compared to baking pies (Jurassic period), and the actual turkey itself (the Big Bang). But did that ever dawn on mom? Nope. As soon as the potatoes were ready she placed them on the dining table sat down, and announced "Mashed Potatoes are ready!" Everyone working their ass off in the kitchen kind of looked at each other with a WTF? Being her son, I was not surprised. So we keep cooking, working toward a common goal of feeding everyone at an appropriate time. Once more: "Did y'all hear, MASHED POTATOES ARE READY!" ME: Yeah mom, we heard, but we aren't ready with everything else. Ten minutes go by. Mom: Well hell, I'm just going to start with the mashed potatoes then. Me: (a notch just below yelling) Jesus Christ can't you see we are all working our asses off here! We'll be there when everything is done! Well that did it. She crossed her arms around her chest and sulked until the food came out. Everyone got to eating, drinking, laughing - except mom. She decided to get back at me with completey inappropriate passive aggressive comments. Thing like "Mach 1 used to take his diaper off and twirl it around his head like a lasso. He always was an exhibitionist, hope you grew out of that!" and then "Remember that time the cops caught you and your friends drinking Boone's Farm behind the Circle K? I almost had to send you to military school!" Goddamn embarrassing. Yeah, no one else is going to be invited this year, just the immediate family.
  21. Fired up my rebuilt 351c for the first time this weekend. Fucking nerve wracking. Had to cut it short because my gauges weren't working properly, and the Dynamat I put on the mufflers to keep me from getting burned started melting. Yeah, not such a great idea in retrospect. Full break in will have to wait until this weekend. But it runs and I am happy.
  22. I tried that. I didn't like the flavor the seared corn meal brought to the dough. It made it far easier to get it on to the stone but the trade off in taste wasn't worth it for me. Next stop this Caputo flour. Ordered and will report back.
  23. It will be refreshing to have a President that's a whore for Wall Street rather than a whore for Evangelical hypocrites and Russian mafia. Baby steps.
