  1. Any Eugene locals on surly? Based on my half ass research, it doesn’t seem like there’s much to do it in the town. Maybe, just maybe this will cost them enough recruits/transfers to kill Uncle Phil’s dream of a national title. I’m not disparaging the football program, Dan Lanning, their facilities, or the university. It’s a beautiful campus. Animal House is one of my favorite movies. I’m just curious to hear others’ opinions on the town and possibly geography keeping Oregon from becoming truly elite. I ask all this because it appears that Oregon is often used as a stalking horse for Deep South recruits and transfers to drive up their NIL offers. It’s hard to dispute their success in Texas.
  2. Valid point. I wonder if the package deal with brother caused Texas to back off. OTF has never said this though. Mitchell had a TD in every playoff game he played in at Georgia. Golden lit us up like a pinball machine with a bad QB. Those traits project.
  3. Back it college, wetried to eat at a PF Changs in Baton Rouge. 3 hour wait. People were cheerfully holding on to their reservation buzzers and waiting it out. It was fairly new to town, but I was gobsmacked. I’ve always thought Pei Wei was ok. They had a spicy Korean dish with noodles that was pretty good. They’ve closed all the locations near my house and office. I probably won’t revisit it.
  4. On the OTF podcast, CJ or Gerry had a pretty good insight on Texas DL transfer recruiting: They want 500 snaps, 3 years in P4 program. Shaw meets the criteria, so they’re interested. Also basically said Branch didn’t have a production for Texas to throw their hat in the ring.
  5. And that’s why Mills sucks.
  6. Rosencopter 2.0!!!!
  7. Eat shit Adams Family.
  8. And there’s the rub. Steve Buscemi isn’t a leading man. Great character/supporting actor. So Terrance Winter had to throw shit at the wall until something worked. Chicago/Stephen Graham worked great, but they couldn’t abandon Nucky’s story as the central character. The show never completely worked, and that’s OK.
  9. Florida strikes me as the right combination of desperate with the financial capability to poach Dillingham. They thought they had the money to fire Napier + hire Kiffin away from Ole Miss. Dillingham would be much cheaper. Timeline could be right too. 2 more years of Lagway. Wheels fall off again in 2027.
  10. Are you betting on a mutual parting? Venables’ buyout is $34.9 million after 2025. It’ll probably cost about the same to hire Dillingham away. Does OU have $70 million?
  11. I wanted Cincy to sneak in for the Hard Knocks drama, but I also wanted to play the Steelers. You can’t have both.
  12. And yet, it keeps happening in the same way and in the same place. https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2019/11/ghosts-of-sugar-land-netflix-review
  13. Looch will ban people for writing fricking, but he’ll let a presumed, functionally illiterate serial killer like Daddy98 post with impunity. From the outside looking in, you can’t understand it. And from the inside looking out, you can’t explain it.
  14. Bud Elliott, while he looks like a Florida choad, has made a valid point before on paycheck jobs. Coach goes into a terrible situation, knowing it’s a terrible situation, but does it anyway for generational money. I think House has basically killed this philosophy, but there a few big schools willing to eat a huge buyout. aggy still paying Jimbo + buying out Elko + finding enough money for Dillingham would be financial malfeasance at a public university, but hey maybe Sharp at 74+ gets Phil Knight kind of desperate.
  15. I should probably familiarize myself with Georgia as they appear to be on our primary foil in the SEC. My 10,000 foot view: - The offense hasn’t been the same since Monken/Bennett left. - They got incredibly lucky with Bennett. Their QB recruiting has been dogshit for almost all of Kirby’s tenure. More 5 star busts than aggy’s 2022 class. - The fanbase celebrated Mike Bobo leaving and dreaded him coming back, and here we are. Kirby is a stubborn fuck and wanted to bring his friend back. - Their WR recruiting has been abysmal. Again, a walk on bailed them out in Ladd McConkey - Schumann is very capable, but Kirby is delegating too much. Saban’s big recruiting pitch to DBs at Bama was that they would be individually coached by the GOAT. You never hear shit about Kirby jumping in there. During games all he does is bitch and work the refs like a government mule. When does he have time to coach his team? He’s running on to the field after every play to cry about something with a running play clock. - The discipline issues are another indicator that Kirby isn’t hands on.
  16. Boise probably did just enough against Penn State to prove they belonged. But I’m not sure. PSU got very cute on offense. They probably win by 30 if they pound the rock all night. Their entire argument to be in was a close road loss to Oregon, and beating a ranked UNLV twice.
  17. Really weird they had a segment on the Acie Law shot instead of Texas beating aggy the last time we played.
  18. I think we can all agree the SEC was down this year. Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, Missouri, LSU, and South Carolina with 3-4 losses. Really shitty QB play outside of Sellers, late season Lagway, and sometimes Ewers.
  19. I watched Branch Wars for the 500th time today. Every scene is great, but Karen catching Jim in disguise hiding in the PT Cruiser still kills me. Michael and Dwight on the radio is one of the funniest bits The Office ever did.
  20. SEC announcer sounds exactly like Cris Collingsworth. Still better than Lowell, but not by much.
  21. I’ve thought about it. I assume you pour a couple ounces from every bottle and track what you added? I hate to be that guy, but if it’s not BT, HH, or OF I’m probably passing for the foreseeable future. I keep trying new stuff and it’s disappointed me. Time to play the classics for awhile. Green River Full Proof has probably been the only new product I’ve enjoyed this year.
  22. aggy not pursuing a transfer QB is sheer negligence. They should have been in it for Mensah, and they should be actively tampering with guys like Leavitt. Rolling with Reed is going to cost them yet another season.
  23. I finally watched it last night. The more I sit with it, the more I like it. There was obviously some nepotism and dead dad sympathy in getting it made, but Reitman made a real film instead of some tribute band bullshit. He did a couple clever things : - He filmed the movie in Atlanta. If they had filmed at 30 Rock, many, many things would have polished or outright cut from the film. - Studio and distribution. Sony made the movie, Netflix will have the streaming rights. No Universal, no NBC, no Peacock, no Lorne. - in the film, Lorne is actively being cucked by check notes, Dan Aykroyd. - Chevy Chase is a full on crazy person. Probably accurate, but Chevy has famously said he didn’t like the film. - Milton Berle pills out his horse cock in a showdown with Chevy and his finance. I always thought of Berle as a beloved comedian. The giant cock fame feels fairly new. I’m sure his estate wasn’t thrilled with this scene. - The Rockefeller ice rink scene was tragic and beautiful. I hope it happened. It’s pleasant to think of Belushi and Gilda in that moment. - I love the casting. Garrett Morris probably got too much screen time, and Belushi was a flat out miss. The actor did a Jack Black impression the whole film. Also a lot of Billy Chrystal for a guy who famously had his sketch cut from the first show. - Finally credit to Reitman for creating the correct vibe.
