  1. Speaking of time not being kind . . .
  2. If the circumstances were different, the situation would be otherwise.
  3. Problem is, the buckle on the hatband should always be on the left side. Here, the dimples-in-front don't match the buckle-on-the-left convention. Probably originally designed by some okie dumbass.
  4. Your point stands, but "The" should be capitalized, as it's part of our official title. (Unlike tOSU, we just choose not to make a big deal out of it.) The Texas Constitution Article 7 Sec. 10. ESTABLISHMENT OF UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS; AGRICULTURAL AND MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT. The Legislature shall as soon as practicable establish, organize and provide for the maintenance, support and direction of a University of the first class, to be located by a vote of the people of this State, and styled, "The University of Texas", for the promotion of literature, and the arts and sciences, including an Agricultural, and Mechanical department. (Emphasis added for the elucidation of aggys; you'll note that it doesn't specify multiple universities of the first class) (Feb. 15, 1876.)
  5. I am, you are, he is . . .
  6. Nattie, tuddie, hundo, jawja . . .
  7. Having the x's and o's AND the Jimmies and Joes is a pretty good formula.
  8. Blucher is German for glue.
  9. "Because I couldn't go for three!"
  10. Meaningless? That meant a hell of a lot to those of us who had 'Horns -7 for the second half.
  11. Come on, dude--haven't you learned anything? Taste, judgment, and morals are orphans on Surly. (For the record, I'm with you 100% and I'm not all that old.)
  12. Yeah, you just can't unsee shit like that and the same five words reverberate through my head every time: 'Jesus, lady--cover it up.'
  13. There's another reason:
  14. After tonight's slate, I'd recommend changing the thread title to "2024 Season Thread and all the shit games in between"
  15. I'd say "cut of your gib," but that's an old, castrated male cat, so . . .
  16. You must mean "gibes," not "jibes;" Surly rarely agrees with anything.
  17. Am I the only one who thinks those who write for a living comment on Longhorn bulletin board posts should demonstrate an understanding of the difference between "Aggies" and " aggys?"
  18. From the old Groucho Marx's You Bet Your Life TV show (circa 1958): Groucho: Well, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, are there any little Smiths running around out there? Smith: We have 13 children, Groucho. Groucho: Thirteen children? Smith: I love my wife very much. Groucho: I love my cigar too, but I take it out every once in a while. (Pretty racy for 1958 network TV.)
  19. "Woody Hayes? Michigan?" "Forget it, he's rolling." But back to Woody--oh yeah, he was an asshole all right, but in 1968 he gave us one of the baddest football quotes ever. tOSU was crushing Michigan late in the fourth quarter. With the first string still in, tOSU scored a meaningless touchdown and Woody then kept the offense on the field and instead of kicking the extra point, went for two. After the game, reporters asked why he went for two when he was already up by a score of 50-14. He snapped, "Because I couldn't go for three!" Now, that's the kind of hatred we need on display in Dallas this October. However, Woody's quote might not be quite as badass as Bill Bradley's coin-toss quote against aggy. We won the toss and the ref asked Bradley if he wanted to kick or receive. Y'all know what comes next, what Bradley said, but I gotta' say it one more time: "It don't make a shit." Perfection. BTW, there's a new book about Bradley coming out next month, "Blue-Eyed Soul Brother--The Versatile Football Life of Super Bill Bradley." The blurb describing the book contains this depressing line: "Today, Bradley is engaged in another struggle, this one with memory loss and other cognitive impairments caused by the many concussions he suffered during his nine-year playing career in the NFL." Hadn't heard about that until now. Damn.
  20. Blue Horseshoe loves Anacott Steel.
  21. This is not negotiation, it's straight-out extortion and I suspect that's illegal, even in Nevada. But let's talk about the real victims here--the folks who took UNLV on Monday and laid the 3 points . . .
  22. Don't rightly know, but it's apparently something Fantastic Johnny C. did down Broadway, but that was before Ringo told him to back off. I has the confuse.
  23. What it is ain't exactly clear.
