Worked on the old truck for 12 hours on Saturday, including 12 trips to various auto parts stores in 5 different cities. Ended up with new drum brakes in the rear, new disc brakes in the front, repacked bearings, and new shocks all the way around. Driving, stopping, and handling are wonderful now. I sore as hell after all of that up, down, and crawling around. I realized when I took the drums off that a previous brake job wasn't done quite right. I luckily found self-adjusting hardware, but the right side was at one store and the left at another which were 20 minutes apart and both 20 minutes from the house. Once the rear drums were done, I pulled off the front to determine that the rotors needed to be turned or replaced. Since it was an aftermarket disc brake conversion, replacement was not an option. Finally found a place 30 minutes from the house that could turn them in a couple hours. In the meantime, I decided to change shocks. Of course, no one place had both front and rear shocks.
