  1. well at least you spelled pena right.
  2. this game wasn't about the 9th. it was about the 7th and mountcastle hitting that homer. coming back from 3 down again late was going to be a problem against arguably the best bullpen in the league. (i know the nyy have the best bullpen era but not sure there's a better tandem of cano and felix back there)
  3. i want him to be justin verlander when he grows up, but if he's a 90 pitch / 6 inning guy right now (allowing ~2er and getting 5-7k) then i'm fucking stoked. he's our sp4 at best, assuming javier ever pulls it together. most teams would kill for that profile. in the playoffs, i'd like him to be a flamethrower who can get 3-6 big outs in the middle/middle-late innings. i've only been begging for such a piece for half a decade now.
  4. yainer just took one to the wall. i don't care if he ever catches again (obviously i do) but he needs to be our everyday dh. we need his bat in this lineup 8 days a week. a blind man could tell you that.
  5. they're joking about abreu grabbing that pop-up, but i think altuve wanted to drop it on purpose and get 2. now it's 3-2. hilarious.
  6. "if nobody got me, tuck got me." -pena glad this is catching on.
  7. nice work from cj to get out of a bullshit jam. 27 pitches isn't ideal but bullpen should be plenty fresh. time to score more lol i just saw who's coming up.
  8. she had seen a box that contained the necklace and assumed her gift was the necklace, but instead she got a shitty joni mitchell cd while the young chick from his work got the necklace. she's excited to open it, but once she does she realizes that someone else got the necklace, so there's a lot going on that emma thompson nails, but mostly she's thinking that the judy collins version is far superior.
  9. now, you shouldn't have gone and said that. it's a federal offense to threaten a president. you could go to jail, even if you don't mean it.
  10. you just know some guy in the slc fbi office saw this and was like, "sir, please let me do it. i ask for so little."
  11. not to distract from...whatever this is, but it was pointed out to me last night that alex bregman has 14 doubles this season. in 501 pa. that's almost impressive from a pure statistics perspective. it also sucks shit through a straw from every other perspective. dubon has 18 in 150 fewer pa. even abreu has 16. julks has 13 in 175 fewer pa. embarrassing.
  12. i was led to believe all of mar-a-lago was secure, so i guess i'm confused.
  13. since all 80+ witnesses are republicans, i think his political opponents must also be republicans. dude, the call is coming from inside the house.
  14. yeah, they said wed, thurs, or friday, and trump lawyers were like, we were thinking more like next monday or tuesday. i guess every day matters when delaying is the goal. reminded me of the old joke about the guy dating a pornstar trying to plan a date. she's like, "well, i'm working tuesday and wednesday, how about thursday?" and he's like, "yeah, how about monday?"
  15. we're dealing with a knucklehead who feels like everybody owes him from the start. if he helped make her a judge, even if he had no idea who she was, he will 100% feel like she owes him, her family owes him, and everybody she's ever passed on the street owes him. and much like a mob boss, one day, and that day may never come, he will ask a favor. this fuckstick still thinks the state of texas owes him because of how much money everybody "made" after hurricane harvey. even if she is completely objective and unbiased, he doesn't see things that way, and i'm sure this has been communicated to her in one way or another. either that, or she knows how he operates, and is preemptively doing whatever she needs to. the circular argument of "who actually is responsible for her getting this gig" goes out the window when you're dealing with trump, and the fact that so much time and energy has already been wasted on it is vintage surly.
  16. he's going to try this case on truth social and on cable news regardless. that's been the gameplan for weeks, same as the mueller report - tell the public what you want and assume (rightly so) that they won't take the time to read it. they want to avoid sharing documents in discovery that trump will simply turn around and bullhorn across social media. they think he'll do this because he's done exactly that a bunch of times. every time he's been indicted or about to be or had his place searched, he was the one who broke the story. so here's my question - what if he just lies about what he's being given? even under protective order, i would assume that only covers things that are actually in discovery. he's been lying about this case since the jump, so why stop now? "we were just sent boxes of discovery and it's plain as day, they are prosecuting me for speaking and violating my first amendment rights blah blah. we went through all their in-evidence and non-sources and no-conspirators and realized they have nothing on me because your favorite president trump (i refuse to capitalize the way he would) did nothing wrong! sad!" would that be a violation of the order, or is it only a violation if he reveals stuff actually in discovery? i think he's probably in the clear here. (a similar thing happened in "the insider" which you should probably rewatch)
  17. the electoral math is just not there for him. it was barely there in 2016 and took a minor miracle along with absolutely historically weird circumstances. things have gone way downhill for him since in a variety of ways, so no, he will not win the presidential election in 2024. if he somehow is president in 2025, it's because of a coup, and i don't really know what that looks like, because the states we need are "protected", but who the hell knows. it would literally have to be some succession shit where several of the voting places got blowed up or something. that said, once he loses in 2024, 2028 makes me nervous assuming trump is out of the way. if he's still in the way, i still feel very comfortable.
  18. also why do people want him to not be able to run anymore? i want him to run 3-5 more times.
