  1. Yeah. After 15 years of marriage, I’m pretty clear we have little in common other than we enjoy the occasional sexy time. She shows no appreciation and only points things out when I’ve screwed up. Her choice of words and tone or voice is a mix of exasperation, condescension, and passive aggression. She regularly makes the kids cry and pisses me off so much that I put on my earphones and block her out. Don’t get me wrong. She’s a good mom, and without her my kids would go barefoot and wear potato sacks. They would be latchkey kids without supervision. But nowadays I don’t want anything to do with her because inevitably it’ll end in an argument.
  2. Wife bought herself flowers on Thursday. I saw them on the kitchen island and thought "Well, we don't need that many lavender roses", so I didn't get her any new flowers for Mother's Day. She thought I was a monster for not getting her flowers anyway, and said the only reason she bought those flowers was because she thought by the time I got them, they would be the leftovers... Maybe, maybe not, but I thought it was pretty bullshit. Also, I hate getting gifts from her and the kids. It's usually shit I don't want, and it just sits there collecting dust. She's been on a shopping spree lately, buying a lot of shoes, and also a $1800 Gucci bag. So... I don't get her anything for Mother's Day, and she was pissed. Her reasoning was "You know what I want." Well, no, because I don't know how to read your fucking mind, and plus you've spend $2,000+ on yourself over the past month and I didn't know you needed anything else. She's still pissed and I haven't spoken to her since Sunday. Sometimes it's easier to just put on my earphones and ignore her for a few days on end... yeah, we'll probably split up after the kids are out of the house.
  3. Reminder that if you eat beets, or chips made of beets, then take a dump in the morning and see red, it’s because of the beets and you are not bleeding out of your butt. [/psa]
  4. Continue spreading those lies. More suicides means fewer POWs and worthless mouths to feed. Not saying the Ukrainians should violate the Geneva convention or anything, but put up a forest of dead bodies - disemboweled, eyes gouged out, feet chopped off, castrated, and wearing Colombian neckties - and see how many Russians want to keep attacking.
  5. The one on Jamboree or at the District?
  6. Read on Twitter yesterday but can’t find it now. Essentially: 5 months into Russian’s winter offensive… Ukraine: has it started yet? 10 minutes into Ukrainian incursion at Bahkmut… Russia: HOLY SHIT! It’s started!
  7. The Cannondale Trail 5 gets a lot of great reviews and was at the top of my list for a few days. They were dinged a bit for having exposed cables, but I wouldn't have noticed. The Trek is supposed to be more rugged in case I ever ride some tougher trails (which my body, at 48, strenuously objects to). Both are in the top 10 for bikes under $1000, so I went with the one which looked the coolest.
  8. Fucking hitby. Got me going until the Heinrich and Adolf part. My school district is quick to kick kids out of school. There was a 4th grader who was having a bad day, kicked a ball at other kids' butts, faces, etc. He was suspended and gone by the following Monday. Apparently he had been fairly well behaved until that one afternoon.
  9. Yeah... that's when I pull out my phone to check surly, and hold up traffic for 30 seconds. Then I hit all green lights after that little delay.
  10. Ah.. didn't see your post. They specialize in Specializeds. In the end, it was down to the Cannondale Trail 5 or the Trek. All things being equal, it was the burnt orange color that won out.
  11. My memory is fuzzy, but the Trek I referenced in the OP was probably 22 years old, not 27. The frame was still solid, but there was something wrong with the shifters. I could click up to the next gear without a hitch, but if I wanted to downshift, I would have to pump it at least 5 times to get the proper cable tension. The bike shop where I got it services said I'd have to live with it, which I didn't want to do. I just sold it on FB Marketplace for $75. Probably should have raised the price since 40+ people were interested (even after my I made it crystal clear there was a mechanical issue). This is what I'm getting instead. Trek Marlin 6 in burnt orange. Have to drive an hour away to get the color/size, but I'm stoked.
  12. Filipino fried chicken from Jollibee (fast food chain) is superior to EVERY chain fried chicken restaurant in the US; and probably better than 50% of specialty fried chicken places. Super crisp on the outside and flavorful on the inside. Their spicy chicken is legit spicy Their only shortcoming is they don’t sell biscuits with their chicken.
  13. And then brake and stop at the next red light? Rinse and repeat? I know the traffic lights on my commute and will try to drive at a speed so by the time I get to the next, it’s already green and I don’t ever have to come to a complete stop. I loathe the idiots who drag race to the next red light and then wait for the green. Because they’re the ones who block me while they’re accelerating from 0 to 50 when I’m already cruising at 50.
  14. According to my wife, the first time she got wet for me was when I played You’re Beautiful on the guitar. Nowadays I’m just lucky she doesn’t turn down the volume when I’m serenading with her Wonderful Tonight.
  15. Stick shift Subaru? Not many cars have the auto-hold. I remember the first time (in my stick shift car) stopped on a hill waiting for the green light. Scared the bejeezus out of my then GF’s mom and myself.
  16. Little known fact. The back of the crown looks like this.
  17. Lol. Been there, just did that last month. I have one of those multi-effects boards where the volume pedal doubles as a wah. It could happen to the best (or in my case, the worst) of us.
  18. +1 I heard a clip of him NOT on the podcast, and he actually sounds normal, and more likeable.
  19. My 27 YO Trek 6500 has finally bit the bullet, and I'm in the market for something new. I'd like to get something local so I can get it before the weekend. It doesn't need to be anything hardcore since I'm primarily riding at the regional park with gravel and a few bumps. The local REI and Trek stores have the following: Cannondale Trail 6 - $650 Co-Op DRT 1.2 - $700 GT Avalanche Sport - $720 GT Aggressor Export - $650 Trek Marlin 6 - $750 I'm pretty much just looking at these since they don't cost an arm and a leg, I can get it locally, and it doesn't need to be remotely hardcore. Any on the list you think stands out over the others?
  20. Wearing shoes into your house, especially if you have carpet, is disgusting.
