  1. The only thing I learned from EDM/VAN series is anyone can score an equal strength goal in the last 90 seconds. We better gird our loins and win the game now.
  2. Amazing what happens when we play offense instead of dumping and praying Entry, and sustained pressure and all the sudden it looks so easy
  3. Great hustle by Lindell We gotta create something on offense soon.
  4. We only ever do brunch there, and it's one of my all time favorite brunches ever, anywhere. We like it so much that when we had a 4 hour layover in Vegas a few years back we took a cab over to the Venetian just to have brunch at Bouchon before heading back to the airport. Everyone we take loves it too.
  5. Boston/Western winner is gonna be a great series. No clue who is winning it all right now.
  6. I know the Celtics are not liked on this site, but they were pretty damn good tonight. They win it in 6
  7. At least it's only 1 goal considering we hardly touched the puck for the first 6 minutes of the period.
  8. We go a whole game without any sustained pressure even on power play fuck
  9. I've been there and may be again. I wish you all the best brother. Listen to these old-timers. They got me started on my path, along with some real life friends. You gotta start somewhere. It's a beaten cliche, but it's fucking damn true. There will be weeks, sometimes months even, that go by you don't even think about drinking. And then there'll be hours that last an eternity. I don't know how it goes for everybody else from a mental and physical standpoint. Sounds like you've got a supportive partner, that helps. But as Bear taught me, it's not about them...it's about doing it for yourself. My wife earned the right for all I do wrong to tell me to fuck off and clean up. There are days where she's helpful and encouraging and other days where she's just "Do your fucking work, get your shit together." and I finally am starting to get it after awhile. If you're in Austin, PM me. I like my meeting group, mostly guys like us. I am in no position to be a sponsor, but ask these fellas for help and if you want to my group---would be happy to meet you up for some coffee before/after. All that to say, hope you stay okay...I've been in a similar boat and may one day be again. But congrats on the lucidity to see what is happening and start the long path that never ends.
  10. I'll cry too. I mean, I'll jerk off to some old photos of her. But also, tears. And tissues for all the above. Wait, what the fuck were we talking about again?
  11. That's where I was going. But Pesci is shooooooooooooooooort. Like barely 5-feet, and tone deaf (he's got music out there; listen to it, I dare you!).
  12. Other than kinda Ross Perot in 1992 and Wallace in 1968, we haven't seen a party faction break/realignment in this country for well over 150 years. It may be time, I dunno. But they sat in rooms for 20 years trying to figure out how to maintain power, improve turnout among younger voters, Latino voters, female voters. And they were on the brink. They knew it. You all think their morons, but there's still smart people in those rooms. And they knew that time and demography were not on their side. They pondered messaging and social media campaigns and their own version of "Rocking the Vote." And one man brought out 20-25mm people who were either non or irregular voters. And he assured them that they mattered, that they're time had come to have a seat at the table of power, and that he could get back what had been unjustly taken from them. There'll always be straight ticket, chamber of commerce, country club (insert political cliche here) GOP voters. And they'll stick this out and steer the party back on course or break away and do something different. But these party leaders say one thing in public, but they aren't the idiots you think they are. When 2032 elections come around after demography/census/redistricting occurs, they have to have the 20-25mm ultra-MAGA voters and their money. They cannot sustain the model without them and their resources. They will continue to pay fealty, sometimes fake & sometimes genuine, to the Trump God & Family. We are going to have a very strange next 8 years in this country as those people die off or lose interest. It is a drug kick most of you cannot possibly fathom. A charismatic man assured them their hatred and disconnect and lack of respect was all coming to an end if they'd just hand over a ballot and $50/month. For they believed he was the way, the life, and the truth. The rest of the party can run through machinations but that drug high for that bottom 20-25mm MAGA loyalists. You can't win shit if you stop slinging them their dope for the next 8 years.
  13. I don't know about the tired leg theory from a game 7, they just look faster than we do all over the ice.
  14. nfl isn’t going to pay nil type money to 18 yo’s
  15. Going to be very disappointing when edm finally gets a pp and they score.
  16. We look like we have never had a power play before.
  17. Well, that's true. You do make good comments, George. I can go quote for quote with anybody, but your obscure recollection of apartments numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, etc. is just surreal to me. If only you could use your powers for good, Biff. Only time I did an in-person Seinfeld trivia game was at that Irish Pub on West Sixth like 15 years ago. And there was a question about the Bubble Boy episode and I didn't know the answer. Question was something about how George and Susan ended up in that house to begin with. So I submitted, "The Moops" just to submit something between beers. And the host was like, "Who are the Moops. Do you mean the Moors." And I thought he was gonna run with the joke, but he just kept going with the game. I've always wanted to track him down and punch him in the brain.
  18. Another 1.5 inches of rain today. I’m gonna have to go buy about 2 yards of topsoil and use those roll seed things to get grass to grow in my backyard.
  19. I’m not sure what assumptions go into your Monte Carlo model but there is a massive library of data out there showing that a mix of bonds with stocks performs best on the Monte Carlo simulations. I’ve literally run hundreds of scenarios and found the same thing as a double check. To make sure we are speaking the same language, I’m talking about what percent of scenarios fail. While obviously a 90/10 portfolio will produce the best average returns over time, it will also have a higher percentage of failures. You don’t want a portfolio that has too high a percent chance of failure. How high is too high? There is a lot of debate over that. I prefer less than 10%. Once in retirement, the 60/40 portfolio is often recommended because it performs best on Monte Carlo simulations. While bonds have historically been bad the last ten years plus, right now they aren’t bad because you can get 4%+. As a counter weight to major deep stock declines that’s pretty good. Some people drop to 50/50 early in retirement to reduce sequence of returns risk. With currently elevated stock prices that’s not a bad idea.
  20. what the fuck are we doing. fucking Benn is a dumbass.
  21. But I was hoping for a limerick in response. So I'm going to allow for some extra credit in the form of . . . A Theme.
  22. We really are living in idiocracy. I bet those same people would argue against capitalizing "White" to refer to race/ethnicity.
