The 335....if you want an LP sized get a Les Paul....the 335 is cool AF and not unwieldly.

Shameless Exhibit A

Yeah, have played my brother’s 335.  They are great guitars.  But if the elevator pitch of “smaller size, similar tone” is accurate for a guitar that costs less, why not a 339, then?

I just need to carve out some time to run to the city and try out both side-by-side.

You should get it. You’ll save another $100.

True.

BTW, if any of you guys are in Dallas on 12/8, we're playing a DFD Fireman's benefit from 8-10pm at Slater's 50/50 on Greenville.  Firemen always throw a good party.

Here's the way I look at it. The top 1 or 2% of athletes actually make a living at it, but most people into sports have to buy their own gear and pay for their own gym memberships & league fees. Same thing with music. At least we make a few bucks and get a few free beers for all of our time and investment.

Or think of it this way.  If you had that money, you’d spend most of it trying to get laid.  But playing rock music on stage will get you laid.  So you’re getting paid directly in Pussy Points, cutting out the crude cash middleman.  Not a bad deal, imo.

But what if you're the bass player?

You get to drive the mini van.

At my age sex, drugs and rock & roll have been traded for mostly jerking off in the shower, viagra and a rocking chair.

But stop by my garage on Sundays...

Yeah, that's a pass.

Damn man, that's a shame.

Does it help that this is my current masturbation muse?

Here's some guitar porn of the black gretsch Billy Bo Jupiter Firebird getting some action.

This guitar was part of a limited run of 12 guitars in black with gold hardware and Bigsby that was ordered by Street Sounds in Brooklyn. I was stoked to have such a limited guitar. Evidently it was a popular color combo, because they later had several more runs done in the same color combo, devaluing what I thought I had. Still a cool guitar I'm lucky to have. So glad I didnt part with it a few years ago when I actually listed it and had a buyer.

wayne from Sweetwater says these will be $749 on 8/8. Is this true?
This amp is $549 from your link right now. I'd clicked it because the guy we played with Saturday says he uses one for his touring amp and that it sounds better than his 1979 100 watt JMP.

He started by asking me what my Marshall was, evidently my tone was "Golden". That was nice to hear.

Haven't I seen folding guitars before?  Maybe acoustic, but still folding?

Hell I want people to know what I'm packing....attractivity chart and whatnot

Last time I flew with a guitar the gate agent at DFW tried to tell me it was too big for the overhead and that I had to check it. Having an aviation background myself, I told her that wasn't her call to make and demanded to speak to the crew. She called her manager over. I won.

I need to take that Telecaster back to Texas with me in a couple weeks. Seems like I write at least two songs on it every time I'm there. Not much else to do.

I seem to recall during the Obama admin there was a law enacted that they had to accommodate instruments if there was room.

The only things that suffer in airline cargo worse than musical instruments are dogs.

We should be able to register our guitar as service animals for dealing with anxiety.

The good thing about carrying on a Telecaster is you can use it to beat your way to the emergency exit.

Exactly. She tried to say there wasn't room for it and it had to go below. Her manager was more sympathetic to my case and came on board with me to make sure we found room. I thanked him profusely and explained that it was irreplaceable to me had something happened in cargo. I was high as fuck on edibles too, the only way to travel imo.

I have a buddy who used to carry a copy of the law with me. I thought I found it but there is a more specific one.

You are a true rock and roller.

I’ve carried on a guitar on Southwest probably half a dozen times with no problem.

People sometimes bitch that their bags won’t fit in the overhead but tough shit. Get a lower number.

Please share it if you find the citation.  I'd like to have it as well.

Was it a '52 tele, Jim?  You should write a song about it.  Maybe threaten to make her lose an arm.

The first part:   (the key is there is room at the time you board the plane)

In 2012, former President Barack Obama signed into law the ‘‘FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012,’’ which, along with provisions for enhancing runway safety and easing restrictions on transporting lithium batteries, contains the following text:

SEC. 403. MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS.
(a) IN GENERAL—Subchapter I of chapter 417 is amended by adding at the end the following:

‘‘§ 41724. Musical instruments
‘‘(a) IN GENERAL—
‘‘(1) SMALL INSTRUMENTS AS CARRY-ON BAGGAGE.—An air carrier providing air transportation shall permit a passenger to carry a violin, guitar, or other musical instrument in the aircraft cabin, without charging the passenger a fee in addition to any standard fee that carrier may require for comparable carry-on baggage, if—

‘‘(A) the instrument can be stowed safely in a suitable baggage compartment in the aircraft cabin or under a passenger seat, in accordance with the requirements for carriage of carry-on baggage or cargo established by the Administrator; and

‘‘(B) there is space for such stowage at the time the passenger boards the aircraft.

I always thought "Boarding Group C" would make a great band name.

Took my new Epi 339 in for a setup. He sent me this.

I had a lull between doing some finish work last night and got your Epi done for you! Came out great! Installed the new Grover locking gears, polished the frets, cut the nut, set the action, adjusted the truss rod, set the harmonics, oiled the fingerboard, repositioned and sprayed the knobs and pots, tightened input jack and cleaned the whole guitar.

Great band name indeed. Lousy way of life though.

I know. I just had way too much stuff. Singling out the stuff that doesn't move me. That new Gibby helped with that.

What type of witchcraft is it you practice?  Boo.

Haha. I'm also trying to finish paying for the liver shunt dog's medical bills. That shit was approaching the cost of a car.
