I worked at a foot locker like store in HS, and could get basically an unlimited number of free and cheap shoes, so I tried them all. I started wearing ASICs then and never stopped. I stopped running for exercise more than a decade ago, but I still buy ASICs running shoes because they are comfortable as fuck.

Yeah.  I don’t know how a college football fan for any length of time doesn’t know this

Unless he is a Zoomer.  In which case, go back to watching Real Housewives of Tacoma or Dancing With The Stars Season 73 or whatever it is y’all do.

Go TikTok something. It a tube of Sprees and drink a Diet Coke.

Is this where we post that the people in State College are racist?

People are too busy complaining the team sucks and that his name sounds like one of the Founding Fathers to bring up all the racist stuff.

I'll coach A game. Yes one game for less than 10,000 dollars. I bet I could beat Northwestern. If not oh well

It's still that way. Indiana is a basketball school and always will be. Penn State is football above all else.

Indiana sucks at basketball and is pretty good in the bootball.

It ain't 1986.

He's a light-skin rich brother.  When "you people" say, "I have a black friend", he is exactly who you're talking about.

Because Penn State is a much better job in the world of college football and he's gonna get paid just as much.

If you're going to take on the job at a place that fires its coach after two bad losses; you're going to want a significant premium over what you're getting at a place that basically considers you a God.  Getting paid "just as much" ain't going to cut it.  It would take probably at least a 25% pay raise before Cignetti's agent even picks up the phone.  I bet he wouldn't go for anything less than 12 to 13MM.

I got you fam, no need to settle for $10,000.  I'll name you DC for $2MM guaranteed.  Coach one game, I'll fire you and you get the full amount.  We can split it.

I wonder if they want that one back? They ran the Northeast and DMV in recruiting for decades.

I think Penn State is the second best recruiting job in the north.

I would think Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan are all better recruiting jobs; so fourth not second best.

5.  A fan base that is bat shit crazy (see how they responded to Sandusky/Paterno affair)

what do pedder, jort and aggy have in common?

they are cults whose church is football, with schools attached

I split hairs with you on Notre Dame, but you need a guy at Freeman’s level to recruit nationally.

Michigan’s best players usually come from Detroit or Ohio. They have to knock heads with fOSU in both areas. Penn State pretty much has all of Pennsylvania to themselves plus easy proximity to the DMV and Jersey.

North Carolina might be a landing spot for Franklin when they inevitably part ways with Belichick

Franklin would wreck shop at UNC.  He wouldn't win anything more than the ACC championship, but it would be a perfect fit.

honestly while Penn St is a higher profile job he’s probably king there and basically as good or better of a program right now.

the godpa cult left a stain in the bfe center of pennsylvania, and there are plenty of big jobs out there now

pedder are a cross between tech (bfe) and aggy (cult)

The Catholic church gives Notre Dame a built-in national recruiting base.  Lou Holtz was a shitty recruiter and got dudes.

Pennsylvania puts out players, but not at the same level as Ohio. Ok, Pedo State has the third best recruiting setup in the North.

there has to be more to this story

Two words:  Private Equity

Bros need they bonus.  I bet they get a fee on the value of Franklin's buyout plus the signing bonus and contract value of the new guy.

Elko agent working overtime?

he would not be a bad hire, has shown ability and willingness to work in College Station,

so Franklin is apparently a dick in real life from what I’ve been reading but I look at his record and it’s stunning to see someone with this record get fired and paid $50 million to fuck off….

until you get to his inability to win big games. So unless there is something else that got him canned the highlighted portion is why. He knows why. But there a bunch of mid tier schools that would like to have that kind of record and the occasional chance to spoil someone’s hopes.

so Franklin to Arky? If he still wants to coach.

I'm just checking to make sure we can call Pedo racist since they fired their black head coach.

Aggy isn't evil, I agree, if we're only talking about athletic programs. As an institution, there's an argument to be made in a different forum that they're pretty evil and complicit in the downfall of our society. But credit where it's due, the football team hasn't covered up a serial rapist.

You don't know that.  Maybe that's the one thing they are really good at.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all if Elko went to Penn State and A&M just promotes Klein to HC

pedder should give klein a call, at least talk to him

he's the reason aggy look competent

Thats sound like major bullshit to me. Whats in it for Adidas to pony up the majority of a $50M buyout? Its not like thats gonna help them sell $50M more shoes and merch.

speculation: pedder logo sales have flatlined or not grown in line with expectations

they have 800k living alumni and are the largest dues-paying alumni association

it may not be about "sell more" but just stopping the bleeding

I thought the same until I Googled it. Apparently Adidas signed a big 10 yr, $300M agreement with Penn St which starts next year.

I guess they don't want their investment to shit the bed.

there it is

did not know that

if true, adidas will also insist on and pay for a coach guaranteed to make that investment bust out

The contract hasn't even kicked in yet, and ADIDAS execs are forcing a firing? Doubt.

have you read the contract?

does adidas have a no-cause out-clause before the contract kicks in?  or a paid cancellation?

ASICS were the best from about 1992 for years. Still are legit.

Why PSU shouldn’t hire Matt Rhule

1. 64-57 all time record which makes him a downgrade from Franklin

2. He’s 2-22 against top 25 teams which is absolutely abysmal

3. You don’t fire Franklin for 50 mil and hire someone worse

I'm not sure the criteria for "largest alumi association" but I looked it up a couple of months ago and was floored when I found out Indiana has the largest alumni base in the country.

Bunch of midwest redneck fuccbois?  How the hell that happen?

I'm still wondering where ESPN is on this.  Can you imagine the ESPN/Kirk Herbstreit outrage meter if Charlie Strong had that record and we canned him 10 months after a final four appearance.  We would hear about it for the next 20 years.
