Truck is fixed, transmission pump failed. Replaced that and all the seals and gaskets around the transmission but that’s it. Serviced the transmission and put it back in place and it’s running well. Still not a cheap repair, about $2k with parts and labor. That’s $17k into this thing in the last 3-4 months. About all that’s left is the AC and fuel and water pumps. I’m pretty sure most everything else has been replaced since 2020.

so... how fucked am I?  Well parked the trailer at my neighbors after our monthlong coast trip in November... 2023...

Unfortunately my Dad's back went out, and he was the care giver for my Mom, so I pretty much lost all of 2024, to family service, outside of a few trips.  And this weekend my neighbor got a registered letter about a code violation, and I needed to move the trailer ASAP.  Probably tagged it and the high winds blew it off, but long story short I did about two days of prep in one day, to get the damn thing moved.  Of course this is the first time I have done absolutely nothing to it for more than a year.  Roof looks like crap, need to reseal around vents and A/C, and have a small crack in my shower skylight.  I spend about 3 hours just trying to recondition the slide out seals and clean out all the flaking from the roof from between the seals, but got everything working to clos us without tearing the seals.  They are getting fragile with now maintenance.

But now as you can tell the rig is getting beat up on top.  Going to need to re-tape the seam on the slide out that is deteriorating, and decide what to do on the roof.  Still have not checked the water system since winterizing it, nor the A/C as it have been just sitting.  The only thing that bugged me was my electric trailer brakes were not working.  Going to do some electrical testing next time out.  Hoping it's not a rebuild on those, but hell it could all be rusted together after a year idle after a month in the sea breeze, even with a good washdown.

So new roof for RV I assume?  I need to make sure everything else works first, but I never had flaking before like this for sure, but the unit is 8 years old now and UV light eats shit over time, ESPECIALLY without any maintenance.  But figure I need to come up with a plan to fix her and start using her again, or fix and sell her.  But I want to keep her and hit the coast again.  So what should be my plan of attack on the roof?  Going to need to replace the awning as well.

If you are going to buy a complete new roof, Go for RVArmor or equivalent spray on roof.

Roofs can look ALOT worse than they really are sometimes.   I'd start with a good cleaner and some scrubbing, then wash, then repeat.  My roof looks 10x better now than when I purchased it at 18 months old.

Damnit troph!

My wifey struck a gas station bollard before. She doesn’t drive it anymore … but she does back it up in tight quarters. I don’t have the patience.

and pro tip - go through the trucker side of the truck stops. You never have to navigate the roof lines or tight turns.

Wifey here. Best part was when I hit that damn bollard the lady working the register totally had my back, came out and got me out of the jam. She lives in an RV and had hit many of them.

anybody on here own a Casita, the small fiberglass units made in Rice, TX? would love feedback if so.

I've never owned one but I've always really liked them.  Scamp is a similar trailer, based in Minnesota.  They're so small and light, they're fairly popular as a towable trailer in the Jeep community.

Decided to sign myself up for this expensive hobby!  Found a 2021 Mallard M210RB that’s perfect for me and my dog, Shiner.

Decided a good maiden voyage was to go out to Fredericksburg(didn’t want to stray too far).  Can’t wait to get to the coast and up to the mountains.

We have some friends who have one. It seemed cramped inside to me. That's all I've got on the subject.

On another subject, we're exploring options for dispersed campsites west of Fort Collins. Will report back once we've had a chance to locate anything. Lots of humans hereabouts, so I might have to venture out to the western slope to find solitude for me and the Mrs. We went out west and north of Masonville today. Beautiful country, but mostly private property on the paved road all the way to Poudre Canyon.

I got the camper de-winterized and picked it up this afternoon. Maybe next Saturday night will work. Good times will be had.

Happy camping, bros.
