I didn't attend Texas (small Midwest liberal arts undergrad) but I was on staff for over 11 years. On my first day of work in 2011, the Flawn Academic Center (former UGL) was covered in window paint saying "GIG EM" and "THIS IS SEC COUNTRY." Apparently those fuck nuggets were so pumped about being invited to the SEC that they were willing to drive 3 hours to desecrate some random academic building to express themselves. This billboard shows how hard they try to convince themselves that they're meaningful at all.

I saw that the billboard post was quoted and then started reading Eggo’s post and knew that it could go one of two ways - either fully in on the gag or completely oblivious to it.

To this day, I don’t know which situation I prefer, but the surest way to laughter is definitely when someone is unaware. God, it shouldn’t be this funny.

The only guarantee with my posts is that they will contain nonsense, intentional or otherwise.

While the billboard was excellent and definitely on a grander scale, I still prefer the Jimbo plaque at Dirty Martin's.

Because I can go look at it and laugh whenever I want.

We can't have that. College football internet is serious business.

Did the recipient(s) of that letter confirm in writing?

My favorite part is that I've had a couple different buddies, over the years, who know the story, have drinks with different Aggies who still claim they absolutely know the aTm boosters behind the billboard. I laugh every time, but it's not hard to believe considering that GameDay whatever weekend they visited college station that year had kids with Aggie Nation big billboard signs.

Strangely, he did not. I guess they didn't think they would get far asking for a signature while sending a letter to a Post Office box. I did hear the recipient got those letters every month for like year, though, well after the billboard went down because it was just a month lease. Weird.

This is even worse more pathetic than their claim to be the only 12th Man.

They probably tried for traditions, code of honor, and image of persons squeezing their own testicles.

Catching up on this thread, seems like the Aggie offseason cope line is going to be "We woulda won a NATTY if it wasn't for that traitor Collin Klein sabotaging our offense in a home playoff game?" Always the victims.

I have it on the best authority that the entire thing was bullshit. Nothing used was a registered mark of aTm at the time. Their entire thing was "using those things with maroon makes it us, duh" not that they actually registered those marks. They were, unsurprisingly, completely full of shit.

That being said, rumor has it after this incident the school did register Aggie Nation.

Sad thing is, a bunch of fuckwits on this site say the same thing about us in 2023/2024.

"We woulda won a NATTY if it wasn't for that traitor Collin Klein incompetent Steve Sarkisian sabotaging our offense" is an unironic take I've heard dropped several times on the football board.

Someone involved may have had analysts and a corporate attorney review the verbiage and compare it all to trademarks, at the time, and ensure that nothing was in violation in order for the billboard to get the go ahead.

The aggie legal claims following that were ludicrous and could have been contested with contemporaneous receipts had they tried anything beyond the whiny C & D letters. And they knew that.

i’m not sure if this is a “ The king is dead, long live the king!” moment, but even Looch might not have strung together a sentence announcing your dominance in the portal because over 50 players have left your program.

20 Iowa State players have gone to Penn State. Money, white uniforms, rhythmic slapping…. Not sure why. But that is one damn entertaining headline.
