2022 Texas Softball - Locked and Loaded

Like @Js1,  I thought we would lose both games decisively.    Great effort.   There is hope.

6 walks by Dolcini may have been the difference.

Edit:  Just noticed Dolcini threw 150 pitches in 5.2.    Not good.

Dolcini calls off everyone on an infield pop up and Iakopo plows into her from behind the plate 🙄

Far better than what she did to our last pitcher.

Seems as though Coach White has them out of a funk and starting to play a little better. The pitching has to improve, along with the defense, but all in all, not a terrible weekend on the diamond for the girls.

My first thought was "either Mary hates her pitchers or she fundamentally has no awareness behind the plate when doing anything other than receiving pitches"

Or she doesn't communicate/listen and does what she wants/refuses to be called off.

UNT (11-3), today, 6PM, Denton, ESPN+

Katie Cimusz B12 Player of the Week.   Quite an honor for a Freshman.

In preseason interview, Iakopo stated to keep an eye on her.    Iakopo should go into coaching/recruiting.

For her stellar efforts helping power Texas softball (12-9) over a seven-game stretch, Longhorns freshman catcher/first baseman Katie Cimusz has earned her first career selection as the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week (March 8).

The Humble, Texas, native hit .429 overall (9-for-21) with eight runs scored, two steals, a team-high four HR's, 21 total bases and seven RBIs, while slugging 1.000 and registering a 1.500 OPS. Over one stretch, Cimusz homered in four-of-five games (Tulsa, Sam Houston, at No. 2 Alabama, Miami Ohio)

Another OU player breaks the HR record. But cooler because Alo did it in her home state of Hawaii. So nice for her to do it where you grew up.  Still amazed these girls leave Cali and Hawaii to go to fucking Norman when UCLA is right there. (USC, wtf you doing not having softball)

LSU gave Alabama (20-1) its first defeat 13-6 in first game of a DH today.   Montana Fouts gave up 5R, 5H, in 2.2.   We had our chances against her.

LSU in town next Friday and a DH on Sat.

LSU won 5-1 in the second game.
