I fucking knew the “we were treated unfairly, Liberty was too good” narrative was coming.

Like clockwork.

It’s the playoffs, expect everyone to have something, besides the fact you supposedly have the best team in America, and are playing at home.

9 of the 15 SEC teams that have softball programs are in the Sweet 16. Imagine not being in the final 16.

9 ties the record. Of course aggy screwed up his SEC didn’t get a record 10/16 supers teams

OU in 2 - Bama took 2/3 in Tuscaloosa, but Norman is a different place
Florida in 3
Arky in 3, but I'd take equal odds on Ole Miss in 3 because Deifel is such a choker
FSU in 3 (win it for Lonni)
Texas in 2
Total 100% tossup, but god damn, Pickens vs Bahl is going to be must-watch TV.  Hence ABC
UCLA in 3
Oregon in 3

We're not the most talented team, despite what some think. But most of what's wrong right now is mental. No confidence in themselves or their coaches. We still have a few exceptions to that statement, but they can't do it all. And none of them is among our pitchers who've been serving up raw meat.

Speaking of 3rd, aggy may get their 3rd softball national title before Texas gets their first. They wondered the wilderness for decades since their last title in the 80s, but they are major contenders once again, and they might get a chip next month.

Whatever switch suddenly got flipped, we need to super glue it in the "on" position.

Honestly, I still don't expect a title this year, due to our pitching, defense and the fact there are several other potent offenses out there...but if we can get to OKC and win a game or two, for me that will be a decent finish. The supers should be intriguing.

So glad to be wrong.

The team took that ass beating to heart.  Sure seemed like Reese, Stewie, Goode and Mia took it personally with how they performed this past weekend.

TK was brilliant in a regional-clinching contest, yet again. Last year she threw a 1-hitter with double digit strikeouts against Northwestern to clinch the Austin regional.  Threw another shutout this year.

Predicting a Mike White team to miss the supers is a fool's bet - he's never missed the supers round as a head coach.  Texas' 6th straight super regional

BUT....

Can we please end the trend of losing game 1 of the supers?

2019 - Alabama L (lost in 3)
2021 - OKST L (lost in 3)
2022 - Arkansas L (won in 3)
2023 - Tenn L (lost in 2)
2024 - aggy L (won in 3)

Is that a Mike White thing?  Mike White has lost game 1 of the super regional in 2010, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24.  He did win 4 straight game 1s from 2014 to 2017

with three supers being SEC on SEC, the max number of conference teams we can get in is five of the eight.

And the SEC had 7 of the 8 super regional sites, so 5 potential bids to OKC sounds about right.

I usually complain about the SEC super matchups, but in this case, 2 were due to upsets (Ole Miss took down Arizona and Georgia took down Duke) and OU-Bama was going to happen regardless if seeds held.  The only one that did not happen that was penciled in by the committee was Tenn-LSU (lol).

Not that we were ever that close to 4, since LSU didn't even make Championship Sunday.  Kentucky wasn't able to get a game 7 to try to get sent to Austin

SEC had 14 teams make it, 38-12 record with 9 teams advancing to the supers.  13 of the 14 teams (lol, LSU) were playing on Sunday.  Auburn and aggy were both a game away from making it 11 teams.

I think Bama gets one game

Florida sweeps

Arky because they have Bri Ellis

agree on FSU

agree on Texas, but Clemson is well coached.

Give me Tennessee, only because they have a better offense….but Bahl is deadly.

UCLA always seem to find a way to OKC

Liberty is on a high, but that series had to have taken a toll on their arms.

Sorry, until she finally does something in the postseason, Ole Miss might Texas 2022 them at home lol

If the Texas of this past weekend shows up, we win easily in 2.  Clemson's offense cannot keep up with us.  They feasted on some pretty mediocre ACC pitching, but 1 run against Northwestern (in 9 innings) and 5 runs against Kentucky in a full game (who Texas got for 28 runs in 17 innings)

Texas tore apart Michigan pitching that had only allowed 2 runs in winning the B1G tournament and 9 runs on two very good UCF pitchers that everyone was worried would shut us down.

LSU should fire Beth today and hire the SE Louisiana coach. He made her look foolish last weekend

If Beth wasn't known for being such a shitty human, I'd want her as a pitching coach tomorrow, because that, she is actually good at.

But she'd likely fucking tear the locker room apart with her attitude to try and get Mike fired so she could take the job.

In the interim, I will take Heavener or Berzon if they'd like to find a better program.  Mike should find the money for one of them.

I believe the heat here had something to do with the other team’s performances, but not sure.

That’s part of the game. You travel for the tournament, you deal with someone else’s weather

Orlando is hot and humid. UCF should know what that is like

Clemson may be uncomfortable - it was only in the low 80s this past weekend. Mid-90s for the super in Austin

On a true S curve, aggy would get a 2 seed in the 32 or so range and a 3 seed in the 33 or so range. Since they would get the 64th team as their 4 seed

Liberty was 26 in RPI

Texas’ 2 seed was 30 in RPI

Marist was 71 for a 3 seed

Michigan was 40 for our 3 seed

St Francis was 207. EIU was 137

8p.m. start times are great. Saturday's game vs Michigan was played on the surface of the sun.  The next renovation needs to have a clam shell or some other shade for fans.

Kennedy ended up pitching 157.2 IP for the year and finished with a 3.20 ERA

Compare to TK:  161 IP, finished with a 2.48 ERA (and still going)

Kennedy and TK were only a few innings apart
TK finishes with an ERA about 70 points lower than Kennedy's
24 starts for Kennedy, 34 appearances
27 starts for TK, 34 appearances

When aggy coach brought Kennedy into the last game in the 6th inning, it was hot and she already looked drained and depleted.  She just didn’t have her good stuff.  It was obvious  coach thought she could hold Liberty for two innings.  But, she looked like she was already exhausted and no zip.   She ended up giving up 5 HRs.   They just teed off on her.  Bad pitching move by coach.

Is leaving their cleats on the plate an aggy tradition or does everyone do it?

I've seen it done for seniors playing their last game or boxers/ MMA fighters fighting their last fight.   Can't say I have seen the baseball/softball one a lot.

Yes, that is common! Often they position their cleats to correspond to their position in the field. Or, leave them on the pitching rubber in one case in particular. I have that picture somewhere.

Yep. They figured her out early - Saturday, they got her for 11 hits and 8 ER. Sunday game 1, you could tell from the first inning they had her figured out - 1 IP, 2 H, 4 ER, 2 BB.   And then she comes in relief that last game, manages 1 inning, giving up 1 H, 3 ER and 2 BB

They figured Kennedy out on day 2 of the regional.  Fantastic scouting

With all that bitching, they failed to acknowledge that they shouldn’t have even been in that night game. If not for a shitty umpire, they would have been out the previous game.

So ABC wanted to show one of the exciting super regional matchups, but then they found out they got Tennessee-Nebraska...

No softball is slotted for ABC as of now. I assume they decided to air a different sport or programming instead.

I thought maybe bc of NBA playoffs on Saturday but it’s at night, so 3pm might have worked. But whatever. Something changed or someone jumped the gun
