PK seems like a cool dude. Many of you are decidedly NOT cool dudes.

Pk is a good dude but he always needed help.  First it was Patterson then Akina. I don’t blame Sark for wanting a DC that can handle the entire defense.  Crazy I know.

FIFY - Akina was of no help.

The worst one I ever had was at the bar in the Salt Lake City Marriott. No idea what the young missionary put in it…pretty sure it was sprite, a digitally measured shot of bourbon (he said they didn’t have rye) and half a fruit salad and no bitters. Tasted like the 7&7s I made in high school.

But I said rye dammit!

Try ordering an old fashioned in Wisconsin or Michigan. They make it with soda and it’s fucking disgusting. I thought intrinsic to the name of the drink there could only be one way to make it.

I was in Madison watching my bosses daughter play hockey for the Badgers. They had a great bar where we were drinking Spotted Cow.  Great beer.  After the game we went back and someone ordered me an Old Fashioned. I took a sip and spit it out. The server asked me why I didn’t like it?  I said it’s simple, who the hell puts soda in an Old Fashioned???  They took it back and just brought me another Spotted Cow.

False.  In college athletics it’s actually the opposite.  If you resign you forfeit your contact and all benefits.  If you’re fired, w/o, cause, your contract is paid out and benefits stay intact.  And in college sports getting fired really means nothing as long as your name isn’t associated with any king of scandal.

You are the first person on this site to actually touch on why PK was “fired” and didn’t resign. The people clutching their pearls over Sarkisian running down Kwiatkowski after his departure may never understand what Sarkisian actually did for the guy.

I thought this was pretty obvious.  PK being terminated is actually far better for him financially.  His $2mm contract runs through 2026, so he's due over $2mm and has access to whatever medical, dental, etc. benefits he had at Texas (through COBRA or otherwise).  If he's dumb enough to say, "Fuck you, Sark!  You cannot fire me!  I quit!" or the like, then we really do not want him around.

I probably would not have commented about his performance and/or the need for oversight in a press conference.  "I decided to make a change to a defensive style and philosophy more aligned with my preferences.  I thank PK for his contributions and please join me in welcoming Will Mushcamp back to Texas."  It is great that Sark was transparent, but "was distracted by the defense and could not focus on Arch" (paraphrased) is not a great look.

Edited to add - this is a great change and upgrade.

"And add 3 oz of bourbon" and proceeds to pour about 10oz.

Which of us sends it back and screams, "I wanted an old fashioned with the proper pour of bourbon?"

Like all good Fucking Illinois Bastards (Fibs) I got a lake home to get away for the weekends. My first small town Wisconsin bar experience was like traveling to a different country. Everyone puts whatever cash they have on the counter and the bartender takes from the pile until the money is gone. No one even thinks about stealing the money and the bartender is weirdly honest with how much they take. Spotted Cow is a fantastic local beer. Fried cheese curds are served without you even asking. There is no better college football watching experience. My local bar changes one of the TV’s to the Texas game when I walk in without me asking. Even the most shit faced patron just wants to hug you and say nice things to you. I thought it was a Utopia I had stumbled on.

Until the old fashioned. Terrifying. I guess every place has to have a fatal flaw.

That drink is basically sugary jim beam with pieces of fruit and chipped ice floating around in it.

You would think it’s obvious, but people around here whining about the firing clearly don’t understand how it works.  I’d also bet that PK and Sark were in discussions about this, and it wasn’t a blindside “firing”.

100% agree about the other statement.  He should have just stopped after philosophical differences.  Reasons for firing are great, excuses for firing are cringeworthy.  The latter was Sark acting like a Blue Falcon OC, and not the HC of the program.  Ultimately if he fails, that will be why…lack of separation of conflicting duties.

We were at a lakeside bar once in Wisconsin and I go to the bathroom.  2 locals are in it also and one of them says to the other in the stereotypical accent, You drink a pint and piss a gallon.  I had to struggle to not bust out laughing.

Keep it saying it, and you’ll keep being wrong. Sarkisian is not on the hot seat. He didn’t fire anyone due to pressure and he won’t be doing that any time soon. People are unhappy with his off field transgressions and he knows it, but he’s not being threatened due to performance. The guy just went to two semifinals and this year they were a candidate for the playoffs even with 3 losses.

Coaches not on the hot seat replace coordinators all the time and you guys are fucking clowns for arguing otherwise.

thank you.  all of the, "this is Sark playing his last card" takes being posted on the football board right now + the genuine belief by some over there that he is really on the hot seat are mind numbingly stupid and make me question the intelligence of this fanbase.  you can count the number of programs in the entire country who have outperformed what Sark has done at Texas over the past 3 seasons on one hand and you wouldn’t need every finger.  Yet, we have people who won't shut the fuck up about Texas firing him.  it's embarrassing.

Both Gerry and CJ Vogel mentioned Malcolm Kelly as a name to watch at WR coach if Chris Jackson ends up departing for the NFL.

Can he bring Quentin Johnson with him? I’m still mad about that.

Okay, come on now.

I know I’m not the only poster who vagabonds to other boards on a regular basis, including aggie boards.

I know we have some true idiots in our base and on the boards, but we’re a massive fanbase. We also have some pretty bright posters and fans.

When I visit other boards, I can find plenty of dummies, too. However, outside of Notre Dame, Michigan, UF, and USC boards, it gets really difficult to identify virtually any signs of intelligent life.

I know this is a given to many here, but saying it anyway - SECRant/Tigerdroppings is perhaps the largest single collection of people with a collective IQ below 90 this side of an Appalachian swap meet or a Russian Federal Assembly session.

If I remember right, Herman basically gifted him to TCU but not having a WR coach for a month only to end up promoting someone who was already on staff.

I don't think it is intelligence or lack thereof, it is the emotional instability that surprises me.  Do people overreact to everything in your normal life too?
