This is exactly why they should refuse to negotiate and let it shut down. Until you can act like fucking adults you own this fucking shit.

I thought the Republicans had a majority? Can they not convince 218 of their own to vote for a bill to fund the government?

Also, I thought this administration was all about saving money and getting historic revenue from tariffs. How did they run out of money again?

I haven't paid much attention to this because it's boring, but are they having trouble whipping votes in the House?

Utilizing government agencies as propaganda delivery needs to be high on the list of corrupt practices addressed by a future Dem leadership.

Right now, GOP house members are happy to hide behind the Senate because they don’t have enough votes for cloture.  Once the GOP majority in the Senate eliminates the filibuster you’ll see shit in the fan in the House.

So....what did this do to TSA last time?  I'm flying Friday and Sunday, and I guess I'll build in extra airport time.

They are essential but presumably will be lightly staffed as unpaid TSA workers stage a sick-out.

More troubling is the same action undergone by the air traffic controllers.

No ATC?  What could go wrong?

On my way to dinner last night, I heard someone on NPR report that one of the reasons the last shutdown ended was due to actions like these by TSA agents. I'd forgotten all about that.

Don't give a shit.  It's not the first shutdown and it won't be the last one.

I think the concern is that the Federal Government is using the phrase "The Radical Left" in an official post.

This is extremely dangerous rhetoric, and it's spreading.

It's what Americans voted for.

Ahhhh, democracy.

I wish this wasn’t the case but it’s sort of true.

Schumer is such a dinosaur and creature of a bygone era that anytime he trots out there, talks, shows his face, gives his opinion, or has an interview the dems lose hand and people grow angry.

He sucks. Trump loves negotiating with him because he’s lacks true control over his coalition and isn’t willing to go to the brink. Pelosi in her prime was the opposite and Trump knew that. She isn’t the same and has no control anymore.

Send in junior senators, Jeffries (he sucks too is at least the minority leader / has some semblance of power), and wildcards.

Trump ‘wins’ negotiations b/c he has no shame, weaponizes uncertainty, has no real goal or policy other than to ‘win’ or at least not personally look bad, and declares victory no matter what.

The truly rational thing to do against someone like that is to be irrational.

They are essential personnel and will be working without pay, like the ATC.

In 2018-2019, it was the flight attendants threatening to strike because of safety that eventually caused Trump to capitulate.

People will put up with the Parks being closed. Stop air travel and shit gets very fucking real.
