Outstanding week in the portal.

I know we all want to see the O line get better, but even if it doesn't, we upgraded at RB and Arch started feeling pressure and getting out of there, to run or stop and throw, a lot better the second half of the year. We can become a team you can't afford to rush 5 or 6 at, especially if Sark learns what a quick slant is.

It always bugged me that Sonny Crockett was an All-American football player at Florida, and then became an undercover vice cop in Miami. Like if Colt McCoy had left school and became an undercover cop

I’m betting on it. Money is there, need is there, supporting cast to play for - arch, brown/hollywood, and coleman, I can’t imagine top portal class on skill, possibly top class on defense, and a straight up whiff on the OL.

Why? We've not upgraded the O-line through the portal the entire time Sark has been here. Should be the expectation at this point.

last year, not only did we not imagine it, we didn't even know we were not imagining it

we have tasted ASSWATER

i can't imagine swimming in it

the current situation is light years from 'improvement'

we're at "portal miracle necessary for survival"

I've listed all of them on this note pad (most likely to commit are underlined):

Well I could wait and see if Sark gets OL depth in the next week or I can just be angry that it hasn't happened already. Tough call.

Not for the many gaping vaginas around here. Thye are all over it.

More good news for the O-line.

Not that it matters either way. But that’s not where he was listed on the depth chart against Michigan.

Barnes joins Baxter at Kentucky.

What's up with Kentucky taking Texas' castoffs? Are we their new farm school like Auburn and Bama are to us? And I guess Rutgers?

To he fair, I wanted Barnes back, Biles is so, so much better already, and he and Ty Smith are going to murder.

Lol. I kid. It's been a little to quiet around here.

Apparently they feel like everything needs validation and a pat on the back no matter what. Whatever pops into their pink computers in that mineralized coffin where thoughts go to fossilize.

I mean do you blame them? Both players are high level recruits, better than they usually get. The portal is a gold mine for lesser schools to pick off high level recruits that the blue bloods weren't patient with. Some kids come from poor high school programs that are as basic as can be so they are behind developmentally. So their development is a little slower. Or you get a one cut and downhill runner like CJ, that's been at a school that doesn't fit his skillset.

Texas been one of the best recruiting schools since Sark has been here, and Sark is impatient with his recruits. If I were Kentucky I would have a man at a table sitting outside of Moncrief every portal season. 🤣😂

I wonder if CJ Baxter is even half the player he was before all the injuries.

He's lost at least a step.

Hahaha. I do not blame them one bit. It just seems odd, I guess? Kentucky is just such a rando school for football lol. I dunno, I honestly expected Baxter to head back to FL and end up at UCF. And sadly, before we got Biles, I thought Barnes would be back. I never even once thought about where he might end up haha. But I'm glad Zina is back. Biles + Zina, and already having Ty Smith + Atkinson + Okpala makes me feel a little better, but I still can't bring myself to actually care too much anymore. This portal stuff has seriously soured HS recruiting. I don't even look forward to it other than to see who the next QB is up for transferring.

I thought about this a bunch watching him play this year then I asked myself, has he lost a step or did we get worse blocking? He has never been a shifty back. Sometimes back like him need an obvious hole or they end up just slowing down in the backfield trying to wait for something to develop. It could just be the wrong fit. He is NOT an Outside Zone guy. It will be interesting seeing him running for a "brtween the tackles" team to see if that is it.

I thought he was slower hitting the holes.

He was valuable as a receiver and especially in pass protection.

It will be interesting to see him at Kentucky.

When I said "can you blame them" I meant the school. I think it's smart for Kentucky to post up outside Bama, Georgia, and Texas' locker room. Agreed though it was a weird choice to go there. Could be they feel slighted and want a crack at us for undervaluing them? If CJ runs for 150 on us I am gonna be pissed. I like that guy. Just thought we were a bad fit for his style.

This is kind of my headspce. Do they feel slighted or were they offered more or less the same relative to a school like Indiana or whomever? I'm also going to be pissed if CJ burns us, but we'll finally get to see what he could have looked like if he had an average to above average line, so I'll also feel happy if we beat their asses. Then I won't care about the numbers. And yeah, seeing them flex on Bama and others is funny as hell, even if we're like Kentucky? Tf?

You are 100% right. He was slower hitting holes. My thing is a player gets his knees banged up and he runs a little more cautiously through "muddy" holes. Time will tell but I wish him the best.

Yeah, I cannot bring myself to dislike or even slight CJ in the least. He put in 3 years here, and in this day and time you gotta respect that. It sucks about his injury, but he tried. He'll always be a Longhorn to me.

I’m kind of confused that we recruited and signed these 5* players, and now they are leaving…..5*’s are rare, and hard to come by and usually, for the most part “can’t miss” players….stats, I believe, show that they do well in college and will headed for the pros. If these guys think they won’t be starting by year 2, are they really gonna just jump ship, or are they just being offered more to play at another school. I hate watching these guys leave. I suppose this will shake out as time goes on. It can be a bonanza for some schools who, in the past, have not recruited well.

Any update on Wes King, Wyoming OG who visited yesterday? Sounds like he would be someone we would like to pursue.

Update:

Wyoming offensive lineman

Wes King has committed to West Virginia. He took a visit to the University of Texas at Austin but ultimately chose the Mountaineers over other options, including Texas and Kansas State

King, a redshirt junior with one year of eligibility remaining, was a three-year starter at left guard for Wyoming and reportedly has not allowed a sack in over 1,750 career snaps. The Longhorns were reportedly not pressing for him as a high-priority target following his visit.

We've been shit at evaluating inside offensive linemen all of Sark's tenure here. Now the same people who missed on evals the first time are in charge of making a second evaluation. We portaled in Keilan Robinson, AD Mitchell, and Golden. We've not portaled in a single O-lineman that can help us. Again, skill players don't help if you can't block enough to get the ball. WE HAVE TO GET SOME LINEMEN.

Jeez you will bitch about anything.

You seem to be the kind of person no one wants to be around.

And you seem like a guy who doesn't know what's going on with his team. We have one center. One! No depth there at all. We have no idea who will play left or right guard. The transfer will have to take one of them. The other? Who knows. Stroh was our depth there. Imagine that. The other two guards on the roster are freshmen who've never played a snap. If either starting tackle goes down the guy behind him will be a significant dropoff.

I'm not sure you understand the situation. Flood is going to have to do the coaching job of his career and still hope and pray nobody gets injured.
