We have created a system where you can get a toll violation or red light ticket with deadly accuracy in the mail but it’s somehow beyond the limits of LE competence to catch a school shooter captured on multiple videos until a homeless person is tracked down.

Also, I think it’s time to abandon the mask thing outdoors. American cities are not New Delhi with smog and virtually anyone masking outside in 2025 is either criming, ICE, a lunatic, or combination thereof.

Agreed. It’s almost virtually impossible to get away with crime now with all the damn cameras. Brown shouldn’t get a pass and I know from my true crime forum no one was feeling particularly safe or cool with the press conferences up until tonite. It was a damn mess and I don’t put the blame all on them but they didn’t inspire much confidence from Rhode Islanders perspective,

Unsurprising that the guy got found once competent Boston and MA LE got involved.  Really embarrassing for Providence and Brown.

Also some really shitty behavior leaking one name and then RW social media speculating another name.

I mean… how many university PDs you know that have the best and brightest? Providence sure this sucks but Brown? No

Even if their beat cop types are super-competent, imagine the detective/investigative capacity of most university PDs is about nil.

I knew there was some type of Stephen King “It” connection to all this. Grabbed this screenshot earlier when LE had set up a command center near the storage facility where Valente took his life (this was prior to then announcing his death)

derry man. 🤔 😂

Oh and since I know the Brisket loves Forgie this is for him.

On a personal note @Brisketexan I am profoundly sorry for all the hurt I caused with my posts the other day. I have no excuses. My sincere apologies. I have been so upset with a the antisemitism stuff that as @aggie08 reminded me I need to step away when posting. I was too heated and irrational and I have a very hard time explaining myself well regardless.

At any rate, I went to Forgie to have him write my letters and he looks up my grades in his classes and is incredulous like “you have some courage coming in here when you have never done better than a B” and I told him to just read my admissions essay and if he did not like it and couldn’t sign off on it I understood and he that he would read it and to come back tomorrow. And he handed me this letter (which I removed from its frame bc of the glare) and said asked if he got all the schools right and to double check and said good luck and I left.

I had to blur out a personal identifier. But this letter is my personal inspiration when life goes to shit. I will never know what he wrote to all those schools. He wanted to mail them direct but whatever he wrote it is my belief I wouldn’t have been accepted into the ones I was accepted into without him.

sorry to derail yet another thread but with all the awfulness in the world we all need a little Forgie.

That’s my assumption whenever I see one these days.

Actions described by the tipster hardly sound like guy was professional. Case and motive just gets weirder imo esp if the mit shooting is part of the package.

That’s incredible and as a person who follows true crime it pisses me off in nearly every investigation they routinely malign people trying to solve shit online and tell us to lay off speculating or sharing details. Like when would Gabby Petito have been found if not for social media?

I have zero clue what this 48 year old weirdo’s motivation was but it seems rather batshit right now.

The thing is, that's not really reddit solving anything. That's a tip from the public that really should've been submitted to the appropriate investigators rather than posted online. Police rely on tips all the time and I don't see anything about reddit discovering any further information based on this tip.

Catching up on news. I see that the perp and the prof worked or trained together in Lisbon. Failed physics want-to-be-academic holds grudge for 20 years, loses it and starts shooting people. Asshole.

Yeah. That seems to be the deal. Basically like a 20 plus year grudge. Grievance collector that goes thru all this cloak and dagger to exact revenge on an old acquaintance and to kill some random people. Fucking bizarre.

Should have started where they ended with the self inflicted in a storage container. Would have saved everyone a lot of unnecessary pain and suffering and bullshit.

I will never understand. But it seems like especially after Columbine (apart from the 80’s with people going postal) people now want to exact revenge first. And these people study the killers before them and try to perfect the crimes. Geez.

Fuck that. You don't get to decide what people get to wear. First amendment and all that. Fuck authoritarians and the nanny state.

Fuck that. Before covid 23 states had laws against wearing a mask in public spaces.

Speculation online the brown shooting was intended to target a physics final but got the schedule confused.

"The motive was clearly against physics."  Man.  That's a tough motive.  "FUCK YOU, FORCE EQUAL MASS TIMES ACCELERATION!"  That's a grudge that carries a real uphill climb.  "Maybe if I shoot enough people, gravity won't make things move towards objects with greater mass!"

Yep.  Killing - outside of war (and even in it) - is an intensely personal act.  Most motives are just that, personal.  And often really fucked up and twisted, because you've got to get yourself in a pretty fucked up place to conclude "killing people is what I really need to do."

Yep. Fucked up. It would not shock me at all if he studied Luigi with the murder of the CEO and Robinson with the murder of Charlie Kirk. His crime seems copy cat like. I will bundle up and wear a mask and I won’t use my cell phone or switch out SIM cards and I will change plates on my car and I will rent a storage facility beforehand bc those dudes didn’t think to do that. And we have another hero. A homeless dude who could give details and we have cameras everywhere for cops to then look for that specific car and track his dumb ass down. What sucks is there will be a next one and he will study the failures of this one and try to perfect it. Their lives and ours mean nothing to them but they want a legacy to leave behind and to I guess be revered and worshipped like the Columbine killers and others before them. Keeping our heads on a swivel is what we have been reduced to at this point. Or being heroes at great personal sacrifice like Ahmed Al Ahmed. 😢
