Cyclones red/white/red combo for Ireland

Holy shit they're actually wearing their school colors for a big game.

Their script helmet is mid, but the ref and yellow is always appreciated.

I absolutely love these.  Script Cyclones was big when I was born, and all over my little kid ISU gear.

Loved the Cowboys 94 jerseys. Weird take.

Those unis seem to be love/hate and no middle ground.  I think they suck dead green donkey dick, but it's not like you're in some minority on loving them.

Even though I'm giving you a hard time, we have done worse. This was a shameful period for us. A white bib (like a child?) and the addition of tan accents is an all-time uniform abomination (introduced in 1999 for a brief period):

These specific uniforms have stuck in my mind through the years as possibly the worst uniforms in college football history.

Why are they wearing bibs?

No good reason. Rebranding gone bad. Actually, the NCAA disallowed them the following year because they were "confusing" other teams. Too much white on a dark uniform. The NCAA saved us from ourselves.

Billy Fralic was also a friend of mine. Great guy with a wickedly dry sense of humor. The term “pancake block” originated with him. He played in a high school playoff game, while at Penn Hills H.S., also Aaron Donald’s school, and it was against Central Catholic. My cousin was the biggest kid on the Central line that game and he said that Fralic, then a sophomore, told the Central offensive line, “If you don’t try too hard I won’t have to hurt you”. Which is pretty damned funny.

I loved our uniforms back then. I wish they would tone-down the colors a bit but, I’ll take what I can get after the shit they had in the 90s and onward.

Billy died of cancer a couple years ago.

Steve Pederson was one of the biggest jagoff assholes I have ever dealt with. Ralph Willard being another. Dan Devine, too.

i love the mustard yellow from way back. It was very unique and would make their uniforms a definite 'A' grade.

But you are correct, even with the bright yellow, their current uniforms are much better than the ones introduced in the 90s.

Those kinda suck, imo.

Definitely "meh" compared to some of the better military uniforms recently. Plus, I've never been a fan of grey. But, if you wanna look like an F-16, it's gotta be that color.

Somehow, I forgot the fabulous Thunderbirds are also F-16s. These AFA uniforms from 2010 were a helluva lot better! Awesome helmets

Now that's cool.

USAFA is my favorite academy, but they fumble the special uniforms more than the other two.

More terrible uniforms incoming as Tennessee is switching back to Adidas.

They've let Nike, who is usually the more conservative brand, go off the reservation on their alts. Adidas is going to create some creamsicle crimes against humanity.

Got reamed out after the Senior Bowl? I hope Tyler told whoever it was to get fucked.

None other than Program-Killer, Steve Pederson.

We used to call him Guy Smiley, from Sesame Street.

I wonder if CDC and The University have hit up Nike for NIL support across the (real) UT landscape.  I see athletes with NIL deals from Vuori (Arch) and Lululemon, but not Nike…unless I’ve missed something…

Can anyone name a football team with italicized numbers that look good in them? The Chargers and Steelers are the first two that come to mind.

No might about it.

I absolutely HATE the Steelers numbers/font as they are now. There was no sane reason to change the numbers. They were perfect.

And I agree about the Raiders uniforms. Perfect. Although, I am not sure which I prefer more, the aways or homes. I think the away uniforms when they are a bit dirty are just awesome.

Exactly.
And should Nike choose to go down this path, I’ll take the Brand with a $55+B valuation over the competing Brand with a $28+B valuation.

I mean, I get it- Adi is “having a moment” as we say in the industry. They’ve been on a roll for the last 20-24mo’s.
Either one of Samba, Gazelle, Spezial and Campus are on damn near every white suburban Girl in America. And now if you walk through the Mall (yuck), you’ll see the SuperStar plastered all over FLocker/Champs, JD/Finish Line, Shoe Palace and Journeys’ windows. Hell, even at a few select Famous Footwear - Bjorn (Gulden, Global president) & John Miller (US Pres.) aren’t screwing around. They see an opportunity and are going for it- however, have no fear- Once the street- meaning the “real” Streets (NYC/Balt/DC/HTown, Chi-town/East StL, etc etc) all get tired of folk the Suburban Kids, they’ll break off again and jump back on the Swoosh.

It’s the cycle. It’s been going this way for the last 50yrs.

I prefer Adidas over Nike -- Nike's shoe fits suck and I love their soccer gear, especially the team branded training pants. The article states that a big factor in the Vols choosing Adidas was the NIL component of the deal, which would be extra money over and above the $20.5 million revenue share cap. I don't know if our deal with Nike includes NIL money, I assume it doesn't. We need to renegotiate with Nike or, my preference, switch to Adidas to get some of that sweet NIL money.
