  2. Looking for love in all the wrong places…
  3. I was so happy to see these three guys freed at the end of β€œIndiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. I guess that all of that time in the cave ended up stunting their growth.
  4. If ever near Atlanta, drinks on me Sir.
  5. Oh, and money is fungible. It takes a single out of state dollar to taint all the House appropriated funds. And thereby draw scrutiny.
  6. I had something incredibly prescient, impactful, and possibly even program changing to say about the state of Texas football and recruiting. Then, the series finale of Six Feet Under started playing on Netflix and now I'm a wreck who can't remember any of my astoundingly profound, likely universe-shifting prior thoughts Anyway, since we're already bitching about thread derailments in early July of the recruiting season when very, very little permanently impactful things are happening (at least if we're to believe, as I do, that the program is going to turn up the heat in a big way in a couple of months and leaving some bitch ass, crooked af programs wondering "WTF just happened?"), let me say only this: poor Keith deserved better

  9. There was an article in The NY Times recently about the campaign strategy that that Trump and Bernie employed successfully that I can’t stop trying to use in though experiments. Basically, the author proposed that they ran against the party, not just in rhetoric but that the party’s moderating influence tempers a message that’s more attention getting when it’s extreme. You can’t just be for smart immigration enforcement on the right, Trump is for zero immigration, build a wall to keep everyone out, make it impossible for unfriendly nations to even send tourists here, etc. if you’re Bernie, it’s Medicare for all. If you think the NYC Mayoral race is indicative of anything, it’s embracing things like rent freezes and free day care. In the author’s opinion, it’s not just running to the natural extreme in your own party, either (in other words, it doesn’t mean the most partisan candidates win); as these candidates might (or should) have heterodox views (Trump is a better example of this, when he touts things like a tax break on tips that would be anathema to a Paul Ryan type). Anyway, I was thinking of version of this on immigration in which a Democratic candidate runs a pro-immigration platform. The Democratic Party is terrified on seen as being soft on enforcement, weak on defense, and overly concerned with alienating coalition groups, but it’s almost impossible to find moderate positions on those issues that don’t sound wildly uninspiring (basically, you end up with Colin Alred). Imagine a candidate who says β€œImmigrants aren’t the problem, in fact we need more of them. I propose we tear down the wall and make anyone coming to the US a temporary resident if they can get here.” Another version of this might be β€œI can’t support Israel’s wars in Gaza and Iran purely on the basis that I don’t support violence for any reason.” If this author is correct, I would at least think there will be primary candidates in 2026 that will explore better whether this works.
  10. @CTJ, you, @campcrunk, @texifonia and others have all given wonderful insights. A simple fact from the House ruling that no one has mentioned yet is that if money from either side crosses a state line, you get the BIG boys in suits involved...that becomes an FBI issue. Texas isn't going to play fast and loose with this. aggie already is and, shit don't they still owe their supposed academic side about 20M? Those fools will bankrupt. LSU takes federal funds to pay players. Nothing new from Louisiana, last state to obey federal laws on drinking, have federal funds for interstates withheld (thankfully, I'll admit I was buying drive thru daiquiris at 15 with extra shots of Everclear - wait, that may have been negative for me). Not cloak room, but you don't fuck with the hammer the FBI can bring. Hell, they recruited me! They didn't like my question on, I get to carry a gun always as an accountant? 1997. We will get the recruits we need as always. We're not playing any cheating games - didn't under DKR even. Some schools beg for relevance and use bags, illegal funds, whatever, Texas doesn't.

    The Wire

  12. With the exception of Donkey Kong and a bit of Pac Man never really got into video games, it was strictly pinball. We’d give sob stories to old ladies about needing bus fare home or stealing people’s soda bottles off their back porch to redeem ourselves to pay for our games.
  13. I just landed on my flight back from Hawaii and see new CB’s for Ojo, Turntine, and Carlton with Ojo announcing on the 4th of July only to come see this shitshow of a board.
  14. I think that if we are still around in 25 years we will finally see a 3rd party, but it will be the young Democrats splitting off to form their own party. The national Democrats are a rudderless ship content to go quietly into the night. More AOC's and Jasmine Crockett firebrands need to emerge and less of the Schumer and Jeffries type of politicians who are abject cowards shirking their responsibility to stand up to the fascists destroying America.
  15. This stuff is just wild to see happening. It's not that it's unexpected considering the trajectory we have been, but man this is speeding up my finding a new country to call home. We get one life and that life goes by so quickly and we have millions of people that willingly waste their one life on being cruel.
  16. Here is what you don’t get… all that shit is absolutely a thing and correct. but, and this is the most important but, our pitching development staff is so fucking awesome that it overrides all the shit you said that’s absolutely 100% true.
  17. Similarly, I remember a lot of UMGoBlog posts (and from the UM blog community as a whole) about how they were also better than us at every position and would win every single matchup ("DONOVAN EDWARDS WILL RUN FOR 300 YARDS because Texas has no one who can keep up with him - just like Reggie Bush did once. Texas will rush for -0.75 ypa because Graham and Grant. Kenneth Johnson will pick off every pass that Quinn Ewers throws - Ewers will literally be 0-0 for with 27 picks. Something something Loveland something another 300 yards."). Absolutely spectacular prognostication, bitches. Hopefully, this turns out similarly. And more than that, hopefully those piss jug throwing fucks go 0-12 on the season and all of the very worst elements of that fanbase murder Ryan Day's To Catch a Predator looking ass before committing mass harikari. Apologies to the 7 respectful Ohio State fans. I know a couple of them post here but can't remember usernames for shit. Y'all seem OK. Don't do the harikari thing but if you still want to kill Ryan Day, I wouldn't object
  18. But they seem to be enjoying doing it. Beware of a crazy man with intention..... They want to compete so if leveraged to blow it up, they'll play hard ball and he'll cost a fortune.

  20. That is not what is going on. It's more like a cap has recently been instituted, with no clear enforcement mechanism, and no clear punishments if a team goes over the cap, so some programs are trying to abide by the cap, and others aren't. It's basically very similar to pre 2017 except with a higher floor for wages for student athletes. If you want to ignore the rules and spend up to the limit that your boosters will spend above the $20.5 million provided by the athletic department, then go ahead. And we'll see if these enforcement mechanisms have any teeth or not. We're extremely early in this iteration of recruiting, so we'll see how Texas responds over time. There's not a need to rush to action simply because people are panicking on message boards. The roster is in great shape. The signing period isn't until December. Let's see what happens.
  21. Lyft pinching every penny. They be selling adds that appear on the app. Today available cars were literally cans of Bushes Baked Beans.
  22. What a coward. That’s a guy who needs a shovel to the face. What a state of affairs we have in America. That recording should get him removed from office, but the cult will cheer him on for acting like a child.
  23. It really was. This was the first time in a while I sat and watched the whole episode. It's really interesting that they (Mack and GDGD) identified him as a real player when he was just a sophomore and that he really wasn't particularly polished or developed at all when they first saw him play. The line about, "OK, coach - but what is cover 2?" cracked me up. I always suspected there was a ton of potential (which admittedly just means "you ain't done it yet," - as the great man once said) there but for the head injuries. I feel like this interview vindicates that belief a little bit and all those concussions were a fucking shame. But, as someone else said, I'm really glad to see that he's not displaying obvious signs of CTE - because I really thought that might be an issue for him by now, even at this early juncture. Instead, he comes across as a funny, clever guy and I'm now a bigger fan that I was previously. Also, the immediate chemistry with the younger Shipley is very interesting. We can only imagine what those two could have done but for injuries and atrocious coaching... Fuck GDGD. And fuck Shawn Watson just for good measure
