There are at least 4 position groups that need attention before WRs

My sources have been whispering that it will be a safety as their first selection, either Winfield or McKinney.

Solid pick thoughfor Texans

They completely blew past Miami's pick because of their human interest story absolutely no one is paying attention to or wants to know about right now.

There is no WR1. The sandlot offense is 3-4 guys  run around and try to break open while Watson avoids blitzers for 6 seconds and chucks it downfield.

Pair that with a RB than can consistently get 4-6 yds on first down, we in business. Watson with Duke, DJ, Fells, Thomas, Cobb, Stills, Fuller, Cooks is solid.
Do you take Duvernay at 90? I’m thinking he’s there.

Greenard spent his lone season at Florida, after transferring as a grad student from Louisville, as the team's BUCK rush end, a hybrid defensive end/linebacker role that serves at the team's primary pass rusher. Playing with his hand in the dirt and as a standing rusher as a BUCK, Greenard appears to be a scheme-versatile defender.

Thriving in that position, perhaps given his previous experience under defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, Greenard led the SEC in sacks and tackles for loss with 10 and 15.5, respectively. He went on to perform well in drills that often project edge-rushing success at the NFL Combine in February.

Really like the Blacklock pick; can’t really say I know anything about Greenard, but consensus seems to be he’s solid value for that spot. Would really like pick up a guard in round 4 with an eye toward him starting in 2021 and pushing Fulton and Kelemete off the books....

CB is a priority but KJ Hill / wr / tOSU is going to be a steal today

ANALYST'S REPORTS

Analyst:   Crabbs

KJ Hill

Route Tree - Highly polished route runner who continues recent streak of high IQ Buckeyes at the position. He'll press away from leverage in order to widen throwing windows and has done well to attack both in the red zone and in the middle of the field. Uses full field and isn't limited in his tree in any way.

Hands - He's had some OBJ moments on his resume with the one handed catches. Like his hands and ability to catch away from his frame, even though he doesn't have the biggest mitts. He makes it look effortless at full speed to reach out and pluck the football away from his body.

Contested Catch - He does not have ideal levels of elevation skills, nor does he have the length or wingspan to prevent DBs from playing through his frame. If he's got a defender on his hip, odds are there's going to be a PBU. He doesn't flash dominant traits to defeat physicality, either. Thrives in space.

RAC Ability - He isn't notable with his burst or juice in the open field. He shouldn't be considered a big RAC threat, instead consider him a chain mover who will sit at the sticks, create a first down and pick up a few cheap yards. Doesn't have the twitch to force a lot of missed tackles in one on ones.

Football IQ - Knows how to get open — which is a nice start! He's deliberate and everything he does before he touches the football is with intent; allowing him to be a consistent producer and a reliable security blanket. He's been well coaches and should transition well to the pro level as a slot.

Vertical Receiving - Does not have the kind of giddy-up to really command attention down the field. If he catches a LB or heavy footed safety, sure — he'll run by you and can be a threat for a big play but generally speaking he will be best utilized in underneath spaces and finding voids in zone coverage.

COD Skills - He's more smooth than he is twitchy or explosive. Lacks the kind of lateral mobility to really spring and explode through his breaks; instead he's well balanced and offers clean footwork to not waste any motion. High end athletes should be able to mirror him.

Speed - Plays with the same 4.6 speed he put on display in Indy. Furthermore, everything seems to move at the same pace — don't really see a second gear to flip into as he needs to find room to work. As such, press coverage could be problematic to work against if consistently facing pressure in his face.

Competitive Toughness - He's not a brute and he doesn't offer dominant flashes of strength but he does run tough, he plays fearless and isn't afraid of working the middle of the field. He should be able to thrive in high traffic areas thanks to his concentration and willingness to take a big hit at the catch point.

Blocking Skills - Rock solid. He isn't a size or strength mismatch but he does provide the tenacity to help wall off. His play at OSU has promoted an enthusiasm for the dirty work — played well and stayed engaged through stretched of QB run heavy offense and passing game that had to feed a lot of mouths.

Best Trait - Route Running

Worst Trait - Explosiveness

Best Film - Penn State (2018)

Worst Film - Michigan (2019)

Red Flags - None

Summary - K.J. Hill projects as a viable depth receiver and a potential starting slot at the NFL level. Hill offers polished route running and a high football IQ, often finding soft spaces in the secondary to make himself available to his quarterback. He lacks any standout physical traits but his general toughness and polished eye for the game offer him a high floor as a depth player. Ideally Hill works into an offense that likes to space the field to maximize his route running and mitigates his lack of burst.

KJ Hill

PROS: Route running and post-catch work is smooth, fluid and natural. Easy accelerator with good burst out of breaks. Impressive stop-start ability with the ball in his hands and he can create yards for himself. Shifty and elusive as a route runner and when working after the catch. Showcases good physicality and balance post-catch. Adept at creating separation against man coverage but also knows how to find space in zones. Love how quickly he can uncover and execute with good timing. Hands are soft and natural. Never fights the ball and catching it in-stride comes easy. Willing blocker. Ohio State’s all-time leading wide receiver.

CONS: Has short arms and a limited catch radius. Not much of a threat to win above the rim or someone who can extend throwing windows and win outside of his frame. Concentration drops are present on film. Still needs to prove his ability to beat press coverage with consistency and he might be a slot only. Runs a limited route tree in college. Ball skills don’t impress and he isn’t likely to be much of a factor down the field.

BEST TRAIT - Route Running

WORST TRAIT - Ball Skills, Length

RED FLAGS - None

NFL COMP - Rashad Greene

Nobody in Ohio State program history caught more footballs in their career than KJ Hill. Hill projects as a slot receiver in the NFL that is an outstanding route runner in the short to intermediate areas of the field and his hands are generally secure. His smooth and crisp routes enable him to create separation and he has natural catch and run ability. With that said, Hill is limited in terms of length and his catch radius is small. He isn’t likely to find much success when challenged with contested situations and he doesn’t win much outside his frame. Hill has a chance to become a productive slot option in the NFL but he doesn’t come without limitations.

KJ Hill

PROS: He brings good, proactive athleticism to the WR position. He is an asset in the run game due to his impressive RAC ability. Displays elusive in space and has good short area agility to make defenders miss. He's not a killer in the run game, but shows a willingness to stalk block. He displays good instincts while playing in the slot to find open holes against zone coverage. He rarely runs his route into an opposing defender. He does a good job of transferring his weight at the top of the route to create separation against man coverage. He displays very good hands and makes tough catches look routine. He displays good tracking ability on deep balls and does a good job securing off target throws. He will also be a threat as a returner on special teams

CONS: He aligns primarily in the slot. As a result, he's run a limited route tree compared to what he’ll be asked to do in to the pro game. While his deep speed is only sufficient, he does a good job uncovering so I have no reservations about his speed. He has some body catches but hasn’t dropped many passes in the exposures I've graded. He'll be best served if he gets more extension on his catches due to the tighter coverage in the NFL. Needs to improve his consistency at stacking defenders when he has defeated press with foot quickness.

I think people consider WR a need, because Stills and Fuller are FA's after this season. They currently make $17M, and that number is likely to go up.

Then next season Cooks and Cobb have a $22M cap number between the two of them.
