  1. So you saw the torpedo bat and immediately knew that video and stat analysis showed that Volpe made more contact closer to the label, so they reworked the bat to move more mass to the label area? C'mon, man. Sure, we all saw it and could intuitively see how a change like that might affect contact, but very few people could articulate the true "why" without the underlying analysis. Granted, the person who did the initial analysis is with another team now, so it's not like the method is Yankee proprietary info. But make the rest of MLB do their own analysis to figure out the "why."
  2. Easy to see the "what", but the "why" may not be as obvious. Let everyone else figure it out for themselves. As it stands, this particular "competitive advantage" lasted all of what... four days? People understood that Billy Beane was doing something differently with roster construction, but they didn't have the math behind it. They didn't know the "why." People obviously saw the infield shift happening, but it took a while for people to understand the numbers and for that to overcome traditional positioning as the norm.
  3. Tim’s arc over the past three episodes hasn’t been about what he does, but about how he’s thinking. Previous episode has him struggling with thoughts about how to kill himself, then the monk gives him a model of the afterlife that gives him the resolve to actually do it. But before he can do it, Victoria says she can’t live an uncomfortable life, which he knows is waiting for her, so he adds her to the plan. Now Saxon throws his eggs into Dad’s basket and links their fates. Tim hasn’t “done” anything… except cook up a plan to murder/suicide his family which IMO has been fascinating to watch. I think it’s pretty ingenious the way they have shown it progressing.
  4. OK… so pitch’em outside. That’s what makes baseball great. There is a counter move for pretty much everything. I personally don’t think it’s as much of an innovation as people are giving it credit for. Weight distribution and shaping of bats has been an evolution throughout the history of the game. A few years back axe handle bats were the rage. That said, if the Yankees really did believe they had gained some competitive advantage by reshaping the bats, it’s pretty fucking stupid to come out and say “this is what we did and this is why we did it.” They should have just said “the bats comply with MLB rules” and left it at that.
  5. Freakonomics podcast is doing an interesting series on "sludge" aka "enshittification" right now: https://freakonomics.com/podcast/sludge-part-1-the-world-is-drowning-in-it/
  6. Most current FSD build with latest hardware easily passes the Roadrunner test: The second vehicle tested has the same hardware and software build that I do, so I still need to be on guard for desert road murals, anvils, and bundles of dynamite.
  7. Keep winning series.
  8. Walker is having a shit run of luck.
  9. Eat a dick, you basement dwelling bitches.
  10. No worries. Just have to get through Lindor and Soto with the bases juiced.
  11. Gameday showed ball 4 to Alonso catching the edge.
  12. Yes... we know, Joe Buck.
  13. Soto shuffle was bush league bullshit, but he seems to have toned that down a bit.
  14. Fuck MLB in the goat-ass for doing this halfway.
  15. Big fan of The Judy's, but Pompeii wins on body count alone, not to mention it is extremely catchy.
  16. Palate cleanser after that "music" video. Well worth the 35 minutes.
  17. Don’t confuse MLB Network and MLB.TV. MLB Network gives you very few games. MLB.TV gets you every game except teams in your home region which are blacked out. If you live in Texas and you want to watch Astros games, you will have to get SCHN either through traditional cable/satellite or a streaming package that carries regional sports networks. The only two streaming options that carry SCHN are Fubo and DirecTV Stream. I am going into this year with audio only on MLB At Bat app because a) fuck DirecTV and their incessant price increases and b) Fubo doesn’t carry SCHN in Oklahoma. Only games I will see this year will be national broadcasts. If the withdrawal gets too bad, I may resort to MLB.TV and VPN.
  18. She was smoke in "Bad Monkey" as well.
  19. I think Lori is related to Abel Grieves (the minister murdered by Civil War Gemstone in ep 1) and she has a long game to bring down the Gemstone empire. I think this episode's opening flashback sequence of someone trashing the Gemstone home and stealing the Bible that Civil War Gemstone stole from Grieves is the biggest clue of the season arc, and my bet is that Lori is connected. I also wouldn't be shocked if Stifler is an illegitimate Gemstone from an Eli/Lori affair and that he ends up taking over the Gemstone empire, reclaiming what was stolen from one of his great-great-granddads by the other.
