  1. Helobious is Colonel Klink (go to the :45 second mark if you hate baby Jesus and Hogan's Heros):
  2. I will bet money that mitch cumstein's wife has a 2,000 count bag of those things lying around somewhere. No worries, I'm sure she got a great deal on them.
  3. For the Surly 99% (the poors): Our 2009 Phillips 42" 1080 LCD Eco TV had been having some problems turning on the last few weeks. I would fart around with it and unplug a few things to get it going, but the problem just seemed to be getting worse. I finally got serious about getting to the bottom of the issue and worked on several recommended fixes which just seemed to make the problem worse. Sunday early afternoon, the condition finally got critical and I could not get the dammed thing to turn on. Went out yesterday and got a new TV. As you can probably tell from our previous purchase, high end TV picture and audio is just not a huge thing in our lives. We only have one TV in the house. However, it does get used a lot for kids gaming, streaming, terrestrial viewing, and breaking down of climbing video shot at competitions and on real rock. I can only say that the array of options is dizzying with almost every middle of the road to high end TV having reviews in the 4.2 -4.7 stars range with some truly deal breaking type of 1 star reviews for pretty much every model in that range. The reviews are often mixed and matched across sizes and model years and suffixes within the same model. To make matters even more confusing, it seems every TV maker has a bunch of minor differences within each type of picture and even more confusion when comparing with '20, '21, and '22 models being available. We went to Costco and I was just glad to get out of there by the time it was all over with. Ended up with a 65" LG Nano Cell (65NANO85 APA) with additional 3 year warranty included. Set up was a breeze and this thing kicks the crap out of the the old TV in every way imaginable. Got it set up in time to catch the end of the Bills/Chiefs game and I was entertained. I don't have the chops to get too technical with this stuff, but one of the main selling points for us was the picture quality in bright rooms. Our living room has two 30' long solid walls of floor to ceiling glass, so we thought that would be important. One of the supposed downsides is the edge lit LEDs, but I didn't really notice anything with the game or any of the streaming programs we watched, so whatever. In the end, I think we would have been just as happy with a lesser TV purchased as a "members only" deal. I think it is pretty hard to be disappointed with an upgrade these days unless you run into a problem right out of the box or have some kind of massive failure pretty early on.
  4. Crazy divisional round. 3 upsets and all four games with walkoff scores for the wins with none of the final drives in regulation being ho hum clock milking time killers. The only thing that could have made it more exiting is have those game winning field goals not be tie breakers.
  5. Wrong year, Joey Sweetwater. The answer you are looking for is 1986.
  6. ..and if I remember correctly, that was the one part of the book that was a descent read.
  7. I read LOTR back in college while I was procrastinating doing real work on my major. I tended to read really fast but without much comprehension other than the main plot line. For example, if somebody was going on about the history of this family or that, I would just breeze right over it, to say nothing of the pages and pages of song and poetry that I just skipped altogether. Somewhere during Book1, I must have skimmed a little too quickly when they were going over Sauruman's involvement and I got him and Sauron confused, so I had to go back and catch up. I never understood why Tolkien made their names so alike. Fast forward to when the first movie came out and all I could remember about the books was the ending. So I went to see it and enjoyed it and promptly went back and reread the trilogy. It was so much more clear the second time thanks to the movie. Every few years I end up reading the whole thing all over again. The Hobbit was a much easier read and not due strictly to volume, and it had a much warmer and homier feel to it. The Hobbit movies kind of sucked, but they did give a lot of clarity to the players and locations. The Silmarilion was a really tough read and I have no desire to go back and do it again until after watching some of this Amazon series.
  8. I'm sure they did. Just look under "Meat" or "Mr Loaf".
  9. Is there a box for moxie?
  10. Who has time to care about 50K when there are dead hookers all over the place?
  11. More update: Started with nasal mask and above issues. Tried the Phillips mask that Mo recommended and it was almost impossible to adjust so that I would not be leaking air all night, plus not so great sleep. Finally got full face mask and while not a miracle, it is checking most of the boxes. Sleep quality on my smart watch has jumped from highs of around 75% sleep quality maybe only once a week to highs of around 84% 3-4 times per week. I was also able to ditch my MAD with the full mask. Events per hour have jumped to about 2-4/hr, but I don't even notice.
  12. Cowboys games. Too soon?
  13. Another sick thought:
  14. Just binged the whole show over the MLK weekend. I even took a look at the reddit forum. I was a huge fan of Lost back in the day and thus far am impressed by the originality and characters.
  15. Not only all of of that , but Texas, in general, was floundering from the early 80's economic collapse in real estate, oil, banking, and tech. The whole state was sagging with empty buildings, abandoned properties, and just a whole lot of nothing going on economics wise. Much like the Longhorns, at the time, the Cowboys were living off of past glories. I actually credit both Jimmy and Jerry for putting together those championship teams. Dallas was able to get a shit load of players through Walker trade and draft deals. They also took advantage of the lack of salary cap. Jimmy was not some kind of football genius as evidenced by his Miami tenure and we already know about Jerry's shortcomings. In addition, J & J just got real lucky on some things too. Drafting Steve Walsh #1 in the supplemental draft was a huge mistake but accidentally worked out for them when they no longer had the #1 pick and had to take E. Smith #13 or something. Drafting Russell Maryland #1 was not the best thing either. But Jimmy sure did get a lot out of his players, many of which were drafted or otherwise acquired under Landry.
  16. Do you have any idea the overhead required to cut the ribbons on shopping malls?
  17. Tackle the person with the football and the alternative lifestyle
  18. I don't think so on the Pegasus. This was back in 1999, so the memory is a little fuzzy, but I stayed away from the Pegasus line even though I was a Nike guy. I always hated the colors (too much white) and the shoe just looked slow and like "dad" shoes. I always picked out shoes that looked fast but also looked like they were sturdy too. I preferred dark colors with a splash of some kind of day glow color. I also never went for the expensive higher end shoes-upper middle was my max as far as price went. Even though at my peak I only ran about 30 miles a week, I went through shoes really quickly since so much of my work was on the track or hills, plus I was pretty large, at least compared to the guys I was training with who were all about 150 while I was between 165-170. What I would give to weigh that again.
  19. One week on the Jiggy-Z super salad, OMAD, walking, no alcohol diet and I have ....gained .6 lbs. Birthday weekend did me in. How many calories can there be in a 22oz rib eye?
  20. For inspirational purposes only. I loved those shoes though.
  21. City of Bee Cave. Watch your ass heading down that hill on 71 toward Barton Creek going into Bee Cave. And fuck the city of Bee Cave in general.
  22. I went back and pulled this up, just in case the Surl forgot our hero's vitals. The good news is that to be at pretty much optimal training weight you only need to drop about 10lbs. If you take this halfway seriously, I think you can break the 1:00 mark.
  23. All kidding aside, I'm going to go ahead and say spikes are completely unnecessary for this race. I will say though that Air Max's are not the best option either, at least as you approach more 400 specific training. In time the Air Max's will begin to wear out, and at that time should be replaced with something between a minimalist running shoe and a full cushy heel shoe. Pretty middle of the road type of shoe that is light...and for you, you should race in the shoe that you trained in just for familiarity. Case in point: Above I mentioned that I had a timed 400 at :58 seconds in my early 30's at the beginning of my mile training. I did another timed 400 about 1 week before the race and did it in :49 seconds while wearing just a pair of Nike Air Bowerman(inexpensive middle of the road shoe) series training shoes(and some shorts), that I ended up purchasing one day because I somehow forgot my other running shoes. I trained in the 200 as well with rep times of 23-24 seconds and can honestly say I have never worn spikes in my life. Also never even came close to getting injured.
