  1. I like how he slipped in there, "President Trump has demanded full transparency on this". Man, that's a doozy even in upside down world.
  2. IT stuff from this morning. Some of this is repetitive or what we've already heard. Here’s a comprehensive breakdown that puts all the pieces we’ve heard together. Game Situations Saturday’s scrimmage featured a mix of move-the-field drills (between the 20’s), red zone lockout periods, and two-minute drill to close the day. As expected, the defense emerged as the clear winner in each period. During move-the-field situations, the first-team offense faced the second-team defense, while red zone and two-minute drill matched the first-team units head-to-head. In all three cases, the defense maintained the upper hand, largely due to the defensive line. It wasn’t pure domination, but it was clear. Quarterback Quarterbacks were able to find open receivers at times, but inconsistency hurt the offense. Overthrows and an occasional tendency to feel pressure too early and leave the pocket stalled drives. QB’s leaving the pocket early is another positive sign of the defensive line creating consistent pressure. Arch Manning did make a number of the throws he needed to hit downfield and avoided turnovers, finishing without an interception. Matt Caldwell looked like a veteran on one sustained drive. The QB’s were largely up and down. Running Back The running backs avoided negative plays, staying ahead of the sticks, but couldn’t break off any long runs. CJ Baxter stood out, showing patience, vision, and the ability to fall forward for extra yards. His timing on stretch plays was particularly effective. Correction: He was in his knee brace. Our source must have seen him right after his day was done without the knee brace. It was an okay day for the backs relative to the competition they were facing. Wide Receiver Ryan Wingo and Parker Livingstone looked really good, but the best performance relative to expectations probably goes to freshmen Daylan McCutcheon. McCutcheon had a touchdown on an out route thrown by freshman quarterback KJ Lacey. IT has Livingstone penciled in as a starter. Dark pencil. Almost ripping through the paper. He’s had a good camp. Emmett Mosley did not participate in the scrimmage. Tight End Transfer Jack Endries stood out in scramble drills, working well with his quarterback to find openings. Spencer Shannon has shown noticeable year-over-year improvement and is on track to start in 12 personnel. He caught a pass on an out route and looks like a reliable target in two-minute situations. Shannon is a starter in 12 personnel. He’s had the offseason he needed after having a good offseason last year. Freshman Emaree Winston suffered a shoulder injury; the extent is still unknown. Offensive Line The offensive line had mixed results, performing well in move-the-field but struggling against the defensive front in the red zone. They ran stretch plays from a variety of looks, with Baxter showing good patience on those runs. While they are working in more gap schemes than in previous years, they liked OZ on Saturday. Nick Brooks is expected to miss some time but how much is still yet unknown. Defensive Line The defensive line was the most dominant group of the day. Hero Kanu looked strong, and Travis Shaw was immovable in the middle. He also brought the energy. Cole Brevard had a productive day, and though both Shaw and Brevard got banged up, they returned to action. Colin Simmons was a constant presence in the backfield and would have recorded multiple sacks if the plays had been whistled dead. Lance Jackson took first-team snaps in certain packages, while Ethan Burke rotated in at defensive end. Trey Moore lined up at Sam linebacker in base formations. Pete Kwiatkowski ran base a lot. It is the first scrimmage, after all. “The D-line made things easier for the rest of the defense.” Linebackers It was a relatively quiet day for the linebackers, though freshman Ty’Anthony Smith had an interception off a tipped pass. Smith worked a lot with the first-team defense alongside Anthony Hill. Liona Lefau might have a competition on his hands. Elijah Barnes had a strong open-field tackle on a red zone screen pass. Moore’s time was largely spent at Sam in base sets. Secondary The tip on Smith’s interception came from cornerback Warren Roberson, who “has been balling” according to sources. Derek Williams had a strong red zone tackle on Christian Clark. Manny Muhammad continued his standout fall with multiple pass breakups. Jelani McDonald received the bulk of the reps at Star, while Graceson Littleton saw limited action. As you know, Michael Taaffe got some looks at Star. Special Teams Kicker Mason Shipley missed one attempt but connected on a 35-yard field goal during the two-minute drill. Punter Jack Bouwmeester had another strong showing, though punting was not incorporated into the scrimmage. Schedule This Week The Longhorns’ schedule for the coming week: Monday – 3:00 p.m. practice Tuesday – Full pads at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday – Off Thursday – Half pads at 3:00 p.m. Friday – Helmets in the morning Saturday – Another scrimmage
  3. That's our two-deep at DT. I would hope they have.
  4. I would like to hear more about that promise to house all of the homeless.
  5. Yep, definitely sounds like he won't be available until December.
  6. Not sure if mentioned in here yet but after Brooks went out, Jackson Christian moved to RT.
  7. I think he missed one from 50+ and made the rest.
  8. Pam Anderson was actually great in this. Anyone else notice
  9. It's like the finalists of the worldwide Punchable Faces competition. Seriously, it may be those two.
  10. I attended a baptist wedding not too long ago, and I swear about half of it was how women should submit to their husbands. It was disgusting.
  11. Why my heavens! I have never seen such boorish behavior in all of my life! If I were wearing pearls I'd be clutching those motherfuckers hard right now!
  12. Here's an odd sentence. We added a walk-on RB, formerly a LB at Stanford. Though the Texas Longhorns are at 85 scholarships with the elevation of Marshall Landwehr, they did make an addition at a key spot. Stanford running back Carson Berger is listed on the Texas Longhorns’ 2025 online roster. Berger, a member of the class of 2023 out of The Woodlands (Texas) John Cooper, was part of the Cardinal’s 2023 squad. He was listed as a 6-foot-0, 216-pound linebacker by Stanford in 2023. He was not on their 2024 roster. Texas lists Berger as a sophomore. His height and weight is 5-foot-11, 193 pounds. His bio only states “a first-year, walk-on running back who played the 2023 season at Stanford.“ He joins a room that features scholarship backs like CJ Baxter, Quintrevion Wisner, Christian Clark, Jerrick Gibson, Rickey Stewart Jr., and James Simon. Senior Colin Page is the only member of the walk-on corps in Chad Scott’s position group and is in his final year of eligibility. Berger was a two-time SPC state champion in the 3A division that features schools like Houston Christian, Trinity Valley, Fort Worth Country Day, Oakridge, Greenhill, Cistercian, and St. Andrews. He was also the SPC linebacker of the year in 2022. Berger was selected to the Houston Chronicle’s 2022 All-Greater Houston private school team. Walk-ons currently on the Texas roster include Carson Marshall, McCoy Bruce, Graham Gillespie, Ziky Umeozulu, Jackson Duffey, Isaiah Coleman, Tate Haver, Spencer Barnett, Brady Sarkisian, Eric Garza, Rick McBroom, Robert Sweeney, Brooks Kieschnick Jr., Gehrig Heil, Joe Tatum, Luke Dunham, Ridge Barker, Rett Andersen, Quinn Merritt, Remy Patson, Hamilton McMartin, Bryce Chambers, Hudson Powell, and Ty Boatright. Texas continues its preseason training camp with a light practice on Friday. The Longhorns will have their first scrimmage of camp on Saturday. Stay tuned to Inside Texas for the latest details.
  13. Are open practices now just a thing of the past? I'm pretty sure the last one was the 2024 spring game.
  14. That does not look very German to me. She does look pretty rude though.
  15. This was someone's stand-up act, from I think before Dotard became president. How anyone could possibly take this cartoon of a person seriously enough to actually vote for him for President will never not be a puzzle to me.
  16. Way deeper too.
  17. There's been a lot of that going around this offseason. "He won't be perfect! And when he throws his first incompletion everyone is going to shit all over him!".
  18. IT seems to be the ones high on Kanu. Speaking of which: Players lifted after the situational session, then moved into the bubble to work on the situational football they had just reviewed. Red Zone Work Thursday’s focus was on sudden-change situations and extensive red zone work—something that is typically part of the Wednesday game-week routine during the season. The offense performed better in the red zone than in previous sessions. Jack Endries was the primary target in red zone. His connection with Arch Manning improves by the practice. Meanwhile freshman Kaliq Lockett got some run with the first team in those situations. His length and ball skills in the air profile to that part of the field. DeAndre Moore saw limited snaps outside in addition to his typical reps from the slot. Among the receivers, Parker Livingstone and Ryan Wingo are the only ones not rotating positions. Jaime Ffrench worked behind Livingstone and Aaron Butler, while Ryan Niblett continued to split time between receiver, all-purpose back duties, and special teams. More on Niblett in a bit. Running Backs: Health and Depth CJ Baxter’s knee continues to strengthen, while Tre Wisner delivered another strong day. The staff still views Wisner and CJ as the lead backs, but Jerrick Gibson and Christian Clark are next in line and gaining valuable reps. In his availability Wiser mentioned how he likes to talk trash to the defense. That’s a feature, not a bug, and emblematic of the energy he brings day in, day out. Defensive Line: Heavy Rotation and Veteran Presence Texas continues to rotate heavily at defensive tackle. Hero Kanu and Travis Shaw provide physicality and veteran presence with the first group, while Cole Brevard and Alex January worked with the twos. Maraad Watson and Josiah Sharma are seemingly with the threes. There are specific packages that mix and match the personnel but we’ll probably learn more about that together when the games start. This went missed but Lavon Johnson is just now getting on the field. He had an undisclosed (to us) injury. Freshman Justus Terry moves between defensive tackle and Edge and continues to impress with his natural ability. Among the freshman DTs, Josiah Sharma has stood out the most to one source, though Myron Charles is also progressing well. Texas feels like it hit on all three. Seniority and leadership carries weight in the rotation. Kanu and Shaw are the two main leaders, especially Kanu. Brevard works hard but is more quiet. IT asked if Brevard will be drafted after this year. “Definitely, definitely. Shaw obviously, too.” Edge and Linebacker Notes Colton Vasek continues to split reps between at Jack and Buck, while Zina Umeozulu is exclusively at Buck. Lance Jackson is working at Jack, with Brad Spence at Buck. The group is flat out loaded. Special Teams: Bouwmeester Impresses Punter Jack Bouwmeester continues to draw high praise—one source called him “an All-American”—and he trains with former Longhorn legend Michael Dickson. His hang time has been “consistently very good.” I was routinely clocking him over 5-seconds in the two practices I attended and that continues to be the norm. Secret weapon, imo. DeAndre Moore is currently handling punt return duties, but if his offensive role grows too valuable, the staff could turn to Niblett, Daylan McCutcheon, or even Warren Roberson. Kick return duties belong to Niblett and Wisner, though that’s likely to change given Wisner’s value. Christian Clark is viewed as a logical candidate to replace the junior running back. In General, How Will They Play Everyone on Defense? “A lot of guys are going to play a lot. It’s a good problem to have.” While that’s true, I think it’s going to be tough to manage at times.
  19. Senate confirmed, in spite of that. They also confirmed him knowing he had said recently, “There is no such thing as a safe vaccine.”
  20. An extremely irritated Gavin Newsom, this having caused him to lose the election, has Stephen Miller as a guest on his podcast to discuss the pros and cons.
  21. The fact that they haven’t just released the portions that have nothing to do with Trump makes me wonder if that even exists. Like if they did that there would be nothing to release.
  22. Imagine trying to answer that and not making it “political”. “Hey guys, can someone explain Project 2025 to me and what it means and who is behind it? But no fucking politics in your answer! I hate that shit.”
  23. Michael Terry will win four Biletnikoff Awards here.
