  1. If you’re a Dotard supporter in the year 2025, shouldn’t words like “disrespectful” be removed from your vocabulary?
  2. I'm doing a rewatch of the 2024 season, as I am wont to do prior to the season starting. I have hot takes. - The RB injuries in August cost us a national championship. We still had talent there, but the tread was off Wisner's tires by January, and Blue would look like Reggie Bush one game and then take the next month off. - If Neto isn't an improvement over Hayden Conner then we really should have gone to the portal there if he's our best option. - We will be very much improved at the QB position. - WR might be improved overall from what we had out there at the end of the year. Hilariously, it might depend on Jaggerson if Mosley is out for awhile.
  3. Dumb question about potential "land swaps" being discussed.... As in, Ukraine gets parts of Russia? Like where, Siberia?
  4. Granted I’m pretty jaded, but it can pretty much only be that. Something that truly horrific might drop his poll numbers to 35%. Might make midterms close, as well as his third term attempt.
  5. It should have sunk him, but what were we gonna do, NOT confirm a Fox News weekend host as Secretary of Defense? That's crazy talk.
  6. Yep. OTF is talking like Taaffe has wrapped that up going to OSU, and IT said a couple of days ago that Taaffe isn't getting reps at star.
  7. I think I may have said that. Is it possible that our staff is fucking with the 9.95'ers on the backup QB situation? They are all saying wildly different things.
  8. Texas, Ohio St, Georgia, and Alabama all miss a 12 team playoff huh.
  9. Burton: We had some major questions going into the scrimmage yesterday. Some of them were answered: Back-up QB The role feels more and more like transfer Matthew Caldwell’s to lose. We’re told Caldwell looked more than serviceable again yesterday and even started with the second unit. Granted, Steve Sarkisian singled out KJ Lacey, too. The freshman engineered a two-minute drive for a score while working with the 1s. But the plan has always been to redshirt Lacey while letting Caldwell and Trey Owens fight over the back-up role. Tight end rotation Texas worked a lot in 12 personnel yesterday and the first two in the rotation were Jack Endries and Spencer Shannon. Jordan Washington has had a good training camp but Shannon has held Washington off to this point because of his skill and precision as an inline blocker. Secondary Texas seems pleased with the decision to try Michael Taaffe at nickel. That means Taaffe is likely the day-one nickel vs Ohio State, before a heavy situational rotation begins within the game. Likewise, the corner spot opposite Manny Muhammad seems headed to a stand-off of sorts. Both Jaylan Guilbeau and Kobe Black are likely to see starter reps. ** Other positional notes: Interior D-line rotation With Maraad Watson sidelined, the Texas DL rotation was reshaped some yesterday. Alex January played alongside Travis Shaw while Hero Kanu and Cole Brevard were paired together. Wide receiver rotation With Emmett Mosley V sidelined by injury, receivers other than Ryan Wingo, DeAndre Moore and Parker Livingstone must step up. Daylon McCutcheon has been circled as someone capable of doing that all the way back in spring. But more recently Sark has started to sing the praises of Kaliq Lockett, too. Lockett had a double-move on 4th down yesterday that drew high praise from the coaching staff. Aaron Butler did not receive as many opportunities yesterday as he did in the previous scrimmage. Running back Sark said it himself. He had planned all along to slow-play CJ Baxter’s return, to let him get acclimated to college ball and then push him along after Ohio State. But that thinking changed following last Saturday’s scrimmage and was further evidence enhanced by yesterday’s action. With Tre Wisner held out for part of practice, Baxter split some time with the 1st unit along with Christian Clark. Other backs eventually rotated in with that group as well. If Wisner and Baxter are 1a and 1b as Sark described them, then Clark is the clear no. 3. Offensive line What we learned on Saturday is that Texas is working Nick Brooks almost exclusively at right tackle currently. He made the move following Andre Cojoe’s season-ending injury. Brooks spent most of spring at left tackle. So perhaps this is Kyle Flood’s version of cross-training. Give the freshman heavy doses of both positions. Jaydon Chatman stepped in at left tackle for Trevor Goosby who was held out because of a hand injury. Chatman drew praise from Sark for his play. ** A couple more things: - I’m told that Arch Manning’s performance yesterday was much more “consistent”than a week ago. - Do not be surprised if freshmen Graceson Littleton and Kade Phillips are heavy rotational players in the secondary when SEC play begins. They’re “too talented not to”, according to a source.
  10. I wrote that poorly. I meant Chatman was a camp surprise. I had not written him off, so to speak.
  11. Hold on. You fucking take that back right now asshole. That was Major League 2, not Major League.
  12. I found the question odd because, yes, I have seen Caldwell play in a real game. I have not seen Owens or Lacey play in a real game.
  13. "Oh you want peace? Well then why don't you leave the country alone that you invaded and head back to Russia. Problem solved. You can do that at any moment, right?"
  14. God damn what kind of hamstring injury does he have? Is his leg in danger of falling off?
  15. Has this been posted? CJ Vogel: Scrimmage No. 2 Takeaways *** • It was a much cleaner day for the offense. Across all three teams, there was only one turnover, which was on a bobbled exchange from the center and quarterback. • The offense moved the ball much better, and quicker than a week ago as well. By all accounts, the offense won the day. • Still, the defense had some success in the red zone against the offense. • The field goal unit was much improved this week as well. Will Stone handled the kickoff duties. • OT Jaydon Chatman was the first tackle on the field, over Nick Brooks, when Trevor Goosby left the scrimmage. • RB CJ Baxter continues to increase his workload. When speaking with Steve Sarkisian post-scrimmage, it sounds like the training wheels are coming off and the Longhorns will be seeing much more of Baxter on the field to begin the season than anticipated. Sark referenced the RB position as "1A and 1B" rather than a first and second string approach with Baxter and Wisner. • Freshman QB KJ Lacey received some run with the first unit in a 2-minute drill in which he moved the ball very efficiently. The offense ended up making the field goal. • EDGE Colin Simmons "Dominated per usual" according to a source. • There still remains no sign of freshman DB Jonah Williams on the field for fall camp. We might not be there yet, but at some point the long-term health conversation may come in to play here. Individual Moments • Freshman WR Kaliq Lockett was on the receiving end of a double-move conversion on 4th down with the first team offense. • DL Alex January was credited with a blocked field goal. • WR Parker Livingstone had a handful of big gains through the air today. *** Tackling vs. Deeper Playbook Texas missed more tackles in scrimmage two than they did in scrimmage one. With a smaller crowd of onlookers, the bag of offensive play calls increased and as a result, the Longhorns were able to dial up some looks that otherwise be left tucked away with onlookers present. As a result, it was a strong day for the wide receivers. Ryan Wingo, DeAndre Moore, Parker Livingstone, Daylan McCutcheon and Kaliq Lockett were all mentioned as guys with strong performances. *** Malik Muhammad This was a big takeaway for me today. The Texas offense attacked Malik Muhammad this afternoon, all of which by design. Whether it be Livingstone, Wingo, Lockett or name a receiver, Texas was pushing the envelop on the 3rd-year cornerback and Muhammad stood tall. From what I understood, the idea was to instill the confidence of a true CB1, especially with the tall task of Jeremiah Smith looming on August 30. Muhammad withstood the final test he will see in fall camp and did so with high remarks. Really solid day for the Longhorn corner.
  16. Shannon is the biggest camp surprise for me to this point. I had written that dude off. Jaydon Chatman too.
  17. It really just means that Owens isn’t where we need him to be. It’s why they brought in Caldwell in the first place. Who btw also had an Auburn offer. Would we really give that much of a shit about OU’s second and third team QBs?
  18. Arch put the ball on the ground.
  19. Sark even said something like, and I'm paraphrasing here, "We brought in Caldwell in case Manning sprains an ankle or something at OSU and we have someone with experience we can bring in." It wasn't 100% definitive, but pretty close. And just reading between the lines, I don't think it will be too long before Lacey is ahead of Owens in the pecking order.
  20. This. All of this, all offseason. Since January.
  21. Sounds like we've got a 9.95-off at backup QB.
  22. It was crazy to watch. Last week an OTF mod made a post that was basically “Hey guys, he’s gonna play early and often. Starting in Columbus.” And in that thread you had people saying “I bet we don’t see him at all until midseason.”
  23. Hey, it turns out that “let’s wait until August” was correct. As opposed to ruling him out of specific games and an entire season in January. Who could have known.
  24. I think they can play him all over the place. Before he got hurt he was on the field at the same time as Wingo and Moore.
  25. He'll be our #3 or 4 receiver, which is about what he would have been on the last two teams.
