  1. What a strange distinction.....were those kids any less dead?
  2. Perhaps. But there were campers killed in a 1987 flash flood along the Guadalupe that killed campers closer to Comfort and yet here we are. Complacency can be a killer.
  3. I have no doubt that will be the playbook, as was obvious watching the Sat evening CYA clusterfuck of a press conference. But from my understanding learning about the makeup of these camps, there are a lot of well to do people whose kids either lost their lives or were exposed to the very real possibility of losing their lives. Perhaps a couple of them with means to do so, will see that the truth is exposed. Its a different class of victims than Uvalde. Wishful thinking perhaps.
  4. I keep catching blurbs like this that indicate there was knowledge before hand of an impending catastrophic event. If the concern was great enough to stage swift water rescue teams in the hill country two days before the actual floods, what the fuck were campers doing near the water. In the shitshow press conference with Noem a couple of days ago when they were all congratulating each other on how awesome their efforts were, they also mentioned assets staged in the area prior to the actual floods in anticipation of something happening. I get the feeling the post mortem will be ugly in that regard.
  5. How many times has that insufferable cunt mentioned his podcast?
  6. Dude it's a fucking christian camp, now. I don't care who the fuck founded it in 1920. From their home page today...
  7. Oh I don't know, just brainstorming here ... but maybe the people running these camps situated along a river and responsible for hundreds of kids as it was violently storming.
  8. 100% this. When he visits, that fat dumb fuck should be relentlessly peppered with questions about his plans for FEMA, why the fuck he's defunding nws/NOAA etc...., why he's pushing for coal and less renewables etc... Instead they will all bow their heads in prayer to Trump and maybe if they have time, that Jesus guy.
  9. This country is full of fucking morons, and we have a constitutional right to be judged by our peers.
  10. rare to see a ref let them play to this extent.
  11. Yup, you can see the usual idiots crying in the DT because they don't want to read about the consequences of their vote.
  12. That stupid fucking potato probably needs to beg for money again, but felt it would be gauche to make that his first post back.
  13. Such a good deal you can't afford NOT to. Getting a huge jump on my Xmas shopping this year.
  14. Donated. Very much appreciate your generosity @Bob Lives!
  15. They want to stop financially supporting organizations like nws, NOAA, npr, etc.... that's money that can go to rich people through lower taxes. They don't even hide the fact.
  16. All part of the plan https://www.npr.org/2025/06/13/nx-s1-5431913/house-votes-to-eliminate-federal-funding-for-public-media-outlets
  17. You chopped off the best part....the financing. This stuff is pretty good and my usual "shortcut." Although not all stores carry it.
  18. As I stumbled across this thread, it occurred to me that I have not been summoned in the 15 years I have been back to Austin. What serves as the "pool" for summons? I have moved a couple of times around town, but my voter registration and DL have been up to date for years now, and I've never gotten any notification that I missed a summons either. It just seems like a long time.
  19. Yeah, I started it because it was inevitable, but I guess whoever owns the first post chronologically that was moved over gets the blame.
  20. The sacrifices they make for lower taxes and fewer minorities.
  21. And this is the plan for federal disaster relief, which may or may not apply to Texas, because the GQP needs our shit ton of electoral votes, and as Noem couldnt stop shilling...."Trump loves Texas." We'll see. https://www.texasobserver.org/trump-texas-doge-cuts-disaster-aid/
  22. Oh he's improving the NWS all right, by slashing the budget so he can pay for his tax cuts. https://www.npr.org/2025/05/24/nx-s1-5407546/ahead-of-hurricane-season-the-national-weather-service-is-reeling-from-doges-cuts
  23. solid humblebrag
  24. After that last abortion of a press conference, probably time to fire up a dedicated CR thread. From my observations, the response effort has been solid once it got started and there is a commitment moving forward. A lot of questions about what if anything could be done differently and how things will proceed. No need to pollute the generic "thread of rains" thread for weeks. The promising thing is Noem pretty much committed to Trump signing the disaster declaration which is better than some other states recently. The not so promising thing is the collection of morons in charge. For those that didn't see the PC, I'm sure you can find it on youtube. But basically they kissed each others ass, kissed Trumps ass, kissed Jesus' ass and gave no details whatsoever, until the reports asked them for updates. Complete fucking joke. Texans will have their work cut out for them.
