    Beef ribs

Pastrami beef ribs. Ridiculously rich, almost too much really...almost.
  2. was cool seeing tripping daisy in dallas. lots of people turned out and the crowd was super into it, loved seeing all the old tripping daisy shirts. the band also seemed super appreciative. it took them a bit to get warmed up and the first set (elastic firecracker) was pretty loose but it was awesome hearing those songs live. second set was tighter and sounded great. said they're recording a new album this year and will be touring next year, but they didn't play any new stuff.
  3. the sword made it 2 years after their "breakup" before playing this levitation gig. wonder if it's a one off.
  4. i doubt those dates will be rescheduled either. he's over it at this point, nothing holds his attention for that long.
  5. i'll be at tripping daisy as well. they were really good when i saw them at mohawk like 5 years ago.
  6. saw Rite Here Rite Now in the theater yesterday. good concert film, loved the crowd shots...everyone was having so much fun. looks like we'll be getting a new papa for the next album.
  7. Diiv at emo's last night was really good. The new material sounded great and they did an excellent job of creating a mood with their lighting and trippy videos. High quality shoegaze.
  8. was also at the drive by truckers last night. the floor was probably 75% full but the rest of the venue was pretty much empty. as i feared, the seated floor completely killed the energy in the place. unusual for that venue but I thought the sound wasn't great, could've been because we were off to the side but i had a hard time hearing cooley. i figured they would play the album straight through...thought it was weird that they played it out of order, didn't play all the songs, and inserted songs from other albums in the middle of it. there were moments of greatness but overall it was a little disappointing.
  9. Leo Nocentelli last night at antones. Was hoping for his solo material, I love that "lost" album that came out a couple years ago. Instead it was a set of jammed out meters songs. It was his 78th birthday, and he still sings and plays well for an old man but it wasn't exactly the set I was looking for.

    Burgers

    Billy's. Uptown and El Jefe.
  11. was reading that starting in spring 2025 they're redoing the restaurant and visitor center in the basin. sounds like parking will be extremely limited for a couple years, expect a 1 in 1 out situation. also said there will be a gate that locks at 10pm preventing access to the basin...even if you're camped up there you have to be back by 10:00 or you're locked out. don't understand that one. expected completion spring 2027.

    Tex Mex

jewboy cantina in the back of hole in the wall is good. fairly cheap too. queso- a bit thick but good flavor. mini tacos- these are basically jack in the box fried tacos but delicious burrito- wanted the relleno burrito but they were out. got the green chile pork. flavor was good but too much potato and not enough meat. decently spicy. brisket nachos- excellent. super thick chips that didn't get soggy and held up to the weight of the brisket. they were individual nachos, not a giant pile with shit on top. they recommended the breakfast tacos but eggs didn't sound particularly appealing at the time.
  13. have Orangello and Lemonjello come in for their yearly checkup?
  14. with no shows scheduled until july it's unlikely we hear anything until then. there's speculation the whole tour is going to be canceled because of this unspecified illness. they'll have to make some sort of decision before the july 8 show.
  15. in my experience anything over 14lbs is a tight squeeze. they shrink as they cook though so as long as you get it in there it's going to shrink to a manageable size.

  18. apparently this guy has actually been using facial recognition to ban people from these venues...so it isn't necessarily a meaningless threat. https://nypost.com/2024/01/13/metro/judge-oks-nyc-suit-over-msg-james-dolan-using-tech-to-ban-enemies/
  19. looks like holland escaped any serious damage. Businesses Affected: • Judy's Bread and Breakfast • Eva's Salon • Gallery on the Square • La Azteca • Vintage Antiques and Snazzy Things
  20. looked like a homeless guy, i assumed it was an overdose. there was only 1 cop there and she didn't seem too concerned.
  21. went to oddwood last night. when we left the coroner was outside taking pictures of a dead guy on the sidewalk. really great way to cap off the evening.
  22. yes he plays an 8 string guitar and it's great. they're so good at jamming the shit out of a riff for 90 seconds. their newest album is 11 songs 21 minutes.
  23. went to big dumb fest on saturday at the mohawk, was pretty awesome that rickshaw billies was able to put together a festival that sold out the place. great energy from the crowd all night long. rickshaw is so damned good, it was loud as shit and extremely sweaty on the floor.
