  1. It’s tough in the park a couple hours after sunup because of the crowds. The only time I’ve caught decent fish was when we would first get there right as it opened for day use and jump in the kayak and hit a few known spots. Dad caught this bass 20+ years ago on my daughters Barbie rod with a little roadrunner. We had just got to the park and we’re setting up chairs and it charged some bait in the shallows. The little spin cast was the only thing with a lure in it and he proceeded to stalk that fish along the shore and out into the middle before it finally ate. I caught one about the same size on the opposite shoreline about an hour later. Most of my garner fish are like these We usually stay at 7 bluffs and I have had good luck above and below the river crossing fishing out of my kayak.
  2. That’s a cheap ball valve. Spend $20 to buy a new one at Home Depot and you’ll be good for another 20years. Go ahead and get some pvc parts too because you’ll probably break one or two pieces taking it apart or putting back together.
  3. Nah just the reel. They leave them at wound everywhere but I wouldn’t put the whole trailer past the dude if they left around him for too long.
  4. If you consider yourself handy, my buddy has been making or converting his blinds to portable ones to drag around different spots on his hunting land with a buggy. Find yourself a $100 trailer. Sometimes they come with a free boat for the pond along with it Add a supporting frame for the floorboards. This one might or might not have held fiber optic cable at one point and was left along the road for a week or so too long Finish your floor and ad some uprights to hold the top Add some sheetmetal around the outside and on the roof. Put in some shooting ports while your at it. Just needs paint. Then make a few more variations
  5. @CoachTex What section did y’all camp? We haven’t been to Garner in 2 years and was taking about a long trip for next year.
  6. Sure. Although we had 4 or 5 dead fish in the live box when we quit a Friday night, we cleaned them real quick and threw the heads and hit back in right where we were fishing. My buddy Sat drinking beer and fishing all day Saturday while I hauled some hay with the tumblebug. He drank way more beers than fish he caught and I stopped by for a bit and he caught a couple of these guys. said he had mainly been catching turtles all day. Next time we’ll bring our Cajun friend and let him make a soft shell sauce picante. Now, to get this thread headed back on track, on Sunday morning, my buddy headed back home and I attended an annual get together at the little local cemetery where 4 generation of my family are buried. I left before the potluck lunch to get back on the hay and after about an hour or so of driving needed a little snack. Prasek’s summer sausage, Colby Jack cheese, jalapeno kettle chips, and a coke knocked back the hunger pretty good. Blue shops towels because I didn’t have anymore Whataburger napkins.
  7. Clapped Out Titties is a great band name for a group of 65yo, punk rock playing, great-grandmothers.
  8. Nothing fancy, just salt on the fish, shake them in a ziplock of yellow corn meal. Knock of the excess cornmeal and release into Lake Crisco heated to 350F. Fetch them out when they swim to the top. The hush puppies were Martha White mix with diced pickled jalapeños. Ketchup with hot sauce for the vegetables.
  9. Buddy controlled the jukebox and started off with Hank Sr then progressed to early 70’s rock so plenty of CCR and DB but unfortunately for Brisket, no TS. I mean, for Christ sakes, I cooked fish that had never been in an ice chest, 10’ from the lake we caught them in, with a white gas coleman stove older than most of the posters on this thread. No offense to any of you Swifties, but no, we didn’t listen to any Taylor Swift.
  10. Kinda cross posting from the fishing thread but catch some catfish, Clean and cook said catfish, Eat catfish, all within a 15’ radius
  11. IMO, catfish. and the multipurpose hot link. You can eat them or use them for bait.
  12. Muzzle loading, blackpowder SA-22? Awesome! Muzzle loading, blackpowder SA-22? Awesome!
  13. My daughter (no pics) got a SA-22 for Christmas right before her 16th birthday. She is RH, left eye dominate and shoots left handed. Bottom ejection on the Browning works great for her.
  14. I’d score him 10’s every time if he did nothing but cannonballs.
  15. I have a couple of bricks of 22 short. 100% shot out of a youth 22 bolt action single shot with a red dot. Have had 20-25 kids take their first shot with that gun.
  16. Patrol Boat, Riverine begs to differ.
  17. Corporal Walter O’Reilly would like a word with you.
  18. Put your safe in a corner where the non hinge side is along a wall. Bolt it down to the slab. These two things will prevent it from being laid down on its back and opened with a pry bar. It’s hard to get enough leverage with it still standing upright. What the safe guys tested down one else’s brand. First thing they do is get it in its back to use body weight to increase leverage.
  19. Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries are probably safer than regular flooded lead acid batteries. Other lithium chemistries not so much. A buddy upgraded a cart to LiFePo4s and says it’s a great upgrade. Went a bank of 6 V 230Ah lead acid to 40Ah lithiums and performance and run time is longer.
  20. Sawsall for construction demo work where you might hit nails. Battery chainsaw for small trees/limbs or 4x4 posts etc. For intermittent, light use I really like the battery chainsaw. I keep a battery in it all the time and grab it over the sawsall 90% of the time. I have a 16” gas chainsaw that I use for smaller tree cutting/limbing and a 24” gas saw for when serious cutting need to be done. Used all three and a gas pole saw last weekend clearing out a road and fenceline before working on the fence.
  21. The one in Tyler still looks like it’s open when I drive but there. Bought a Carver C-1 preamp, M500t amp and Denon DCD-1500II CD player there a few years later before my jr year of college. Still have the amp and preamp but they’ve been boxed up for years.
  22. We’re been clearing out my parents attic of 45 years worth of junk. Probably should start a separate thread of Shit I found in my parents attic but I digress. I did pull out on box labeled David’s Momentos that had all kinds paper and trinkets from my dresser and desk as a kid. Here’s a receipt I pulled out of one folder for J. Geils Band’s Freeze Frame cassette. 50/50 chance I have that cassette packed away in a closet or my attic for my kids to throw out one day. Life is a circle.
  23. Something, something, hot and juicy.
  24. Nice bird. You made a comment on the carry thread about a semi auto 44. Ruger made the bolt 77/44 and a 10/44 semiauto around the same Buddy had the semi auto and 6 rounds of 44 mag down range in a short time is pretty awesome.
