Fuck ME!!! Finally figured out the Open Table (use your app not computer) hack, and got some reservations after passing two weeks ago. Fuck, fuck, fuck... Was looking forward to going more often again. I just looked on their website and it said replacing ductwork. I guess since you could always smell the smoke a little anyhow... 😉

4.1M Earthquake in Falls City/Karnes County
horn4life replied to Wilcox Cummingtonite's topic in Daily Texan
When you drive through and see the endless well flares of operating wells that would not be profitable prior to fracking. I would not be surprised to find in time that it is a contributory factor. I also thought if it was category 10+ how many two story buildings are there even in the area at risk? -
Reading though this thread reminded me of a moment years ago, where Bucky Goldbolt and Erin Hogan, were saying something about how Pat Green was playing in Austin one afternoon and it sort of pissed me off them pushing him. So I called in to the show back when they were on KVET (right?). And said, " If you want to see Pat Green this weekend, you should go see the original instead! Robert Earl Keen is playing in Gruene Hall this weekend!" They both start talking about REK for a couple minutes... still makes me smile thinking of changing that conversation.

Hell I loved the shit out of Charlie Robison, and didn't honestly know it was him. I am also a lot more on the rock side, but love a well written song that truly paints a picture. "My Hometown" is that sort of song, a snapshot of Texas Americana. Hell I had him and Bruce sort of confused because I sort of learned about Bruce via the Dixie Chick's "Travelin' Soldier" where I knew the songwriters cash came rolling in like a freight train and then shut off. I really wish I had taken time to see him, but those were the lost years for me of very young children. But like jimmy jazz said regarding "and we spend it all on pot" line was epic. I am going to do a lot more exploring of his music, as I have learned more about him, I only like him more. There was a blurb in the Houston Chronicle on him that referred back to a 2001 article written by Andy Langer. Apparently he had a vocal chord injury that basically ended his career. It's a VERY LONG read, but if you haven't read it and enjoyed his music take a few minutes. It'll make you love him even more Charlie Robison says, "Fuck everybody!" Hard to get more outlaw than this- Love that level of truly not giving a fuck! Charlie Robison touched me to the core with a single song, that I didn't even attach his name to until after his passing. I hope he found a nice honky tonk to sing in again up there...

Kenny Paxton/Dave P's Impeachment Game Day Thread
horn4life replied to atomheartbevo's topic in Cloak Room
The bottom line is this whole trial is nothing more than an exercise to provide cover to avoid doing the right and moral thing. Which sadly applies to nearly every aspect of the Republican party these days. Or more accurately to provide an opportunity to condemn Paxton as an immoral scumbag that abused the power of his office in a criminal manner! But I want to see him get the opportunity to do the same thing again! The single biggest problem with the Republican party nationally, locally and at the state level, is that Republican voters no longer have any standard of accountability for their elected representatives. The tribal logic that the most corrupt republican in better than any church going, honest democrat, is the current mindset. Thus there is virtually no punishment mechanism for pushing bad republican representatives out of office. Combine that with gerrymandered safe districts? And that is how you end up with the House of Representatives able to be controlled by the children's caucus... -
One time I was in a hurry and there were just too damn many folks clogging (pun intended) the area, so I grabbed some Kirkland. When I got home the wife was pissed, that I did not get the Charmin. I lied and said, they for some reason they did not have any in stock. Only lie I've told her in a long time. I won't do either again!

Return to Office/Work from Home Jobs

I know you can stay at home if you get your income from Only Fans... -
You might be able to do OK in that stripes location, but where the hell are folks gonna park? What allows Beach Street to survive is all the parking around the baseball field that is part of the school's parking. Maybe slap a big deck on top of that thing to expand the seating footprint? I can't wait to get back down in October! And I second justhookit's opinion of the food at Stingrays. It's serviceable, but I can't think of a single item that would make you want to return, other than a channel you cannot get to see a game on. I wish I simply did not have so much BS going on right now, as I look at the surf cams nearly every day, and the blue water is finally coming in all the way to the surf occasionally. What I am starting to wonder about is whether with the markedly warmer water this year, how long into November will the great fishing last? I can absolutely say that OU weekend is and always has been one of the best weekends to be in Port A. We have been there for a couple decades now, and when the kids were with us, having that Monday school holiday made it awesome for a long weekend with the kiddos. That one weekend is sort of the last surge of crowds, because of that three day weekend with the kiddos. I am guessing a 2:30 kick off this year. PS- here is a good link to several of the beach/surf cams. https://www.portaransas-texas.com/condo-rentals/port-aransas-surf-camera/

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet
horn4life replied to Coach pop a bitch's topic in Football
Great game for Quinn! Glad to see him settle down and play very well in the toughest environment the team has played in of late. Reminded me of that Ohio State home streak ending win that was the start of something great. Now what I want to see is enough domination to where we can get the Murphy in for some more real game day experience. Simply as if we can roll along as we hope to, having the second stringer get solid reps can often be the difference in reaching that ultimate goal and falling just short because of a QB injury in a late big game. Funniest thing about the game was when Ewers unleashed that sky ball to the endzone, my wife exclaimed "that's a crappy pass!" right before it was reeled in for a TD! Tip fo the hat to Ewers, he did what he needed to do. Mover from a great QB on paper, to a great QB against a very formidable opponent. It must have felt great for him to come back after being knocked out of game last year and to have such a great performance. I also was very appreciative of his humbleness after the game. I think this performance bodes very, well for Ewers going forward, as QB is as much about confidence as it is talent. The deep ball may still be an issue long term, but last night the deep ball sure wasn't a weakness! Hook'em! -
What to do about a St Augustine lawns in Central TX?
horn4life replied to BillyBadAss's topic in Can You Help Me With This?
I just came up with a new temporary "plan." Maybe I take my giant brown lawn... and If we manage to beat Alabama... Paint a giant Longhorn in my front yard. The ultimate reverse humblebrag, brown ass lawn, with big ass Longhorn... -

horn4life replied to BillyBadAss's topic in Can You Help Me With This?
I decided to let the front yard completely go. It's brown, brown, brown. The only thing I am really glad about is that I did not spring for a sprinkler system to where I would feel obligated to keep it going. I have pretty much decided to expand my large flower beds off the house exponentially, and create a xeriscape heat wave survivor section next to the curb. My plan is to buy some buffalo grass for there will be a green river-like strip between the beds, for a pop of green. I was going to do it last weekend to stretch the rental of the backhoe and front loader over the long weekend. But now that I cannot water new plantings more than once a week, need to wait a little while to do it when there is least some hope of rain, or COA water access. -

What new UT gear are you looking to buy this year?
horn4life replied to GhostOfTomJoad's topic in Football
Won't know until next week. Just search for Nike Customize, and look for the Nike Internationalist. The only color I hate is when they use the way too bright orange, that makes me think of Tennessee or Florida. Although I still think I should have done "HOR" "NEY" as the three letters on each shoe! But wife..e did not find it as humorous as I did. -
Just ordered Black Pumas floor tix for December- Early passcode is ICECREAM We were lucky enough to see them in a last second ticket buy at the Mohawk right before they broke it open. Should be a good show Dec 5/6 ACL Live ALSO --- Don't know the lineup but this weekend is the East Side Kings blues festival. Old time rippers from the past, in small venues on the East side. The wife and I really enjoyed it last year. IF you love the blues it's almost a "secret" Austin music event.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet
horn4life replied to Coach pop a bitch's topic in Football
There is one thing that will help Ewers and the team. Run the damn Ball!!!!! Tossing incompletes on first down, whether they are bombs or 5 yard drops, puts the team behind the chains. Run the damn ball effectively and all of a sudden you get a few looks at 2nd and 2-3. THIS is when you take shots downfield! If you take a shot downfield on a short yardage 2nd down, two good upsides can happen with the deep ball. 1st and best is a deep completion that puts the defense on its heels. 2nd is a check off underneath most likely to a back in space. 3rd is the QB stepping up in the pocket and scampering a couple yards forward for a first down. While the surprise of a 1st down deep ball can be deadly, the risk vs reward is not there for me. Moving the chains is the goal. If you achieve the small goal repeatedly you don't even need the deep ball. You just grind them up methodically. But zero yards on first down is a recipe for disaster for most teams. Two downs for 10 yards is a lot different than 3 downs for 10 yards. And that is never, ever going to change. -
Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet
horn4life replied to Coach pop a bitch's topic in Football
Total interference!!! But if the ball is not under thrown then the defender can't interfere... 5 yards deeper and Worthy isn't having to catch the ball literally off the back of the defender. Though I also have considerable criticism of throwing that deep ball on first down. The under throw was on Ewers. The result was... a punt, because of the zero yards on first down. Let me be clear, while I am critical of Ewers I am rooting for him like a Mofo. My concern is his confidence quite frankly, and I think it's shaken. Because what does he do the next series? We again call a deep ball on first, but this time it's way over thrown. To me that's a mental adjustment rather than shaking off the first under throw, and simply slinging the next one without thinking. I think Ewers was still thinking about the last one, and decided to throw it harder, rather than forget about that first pass and trusting all the ball you have thrown in practice. Which is a better choice mentally, for any QB or DB. You gotta not let the last one, influence the next one. AGAIN! I am critical of the bombs away on first down! Result of zero yards on... again a punt. Of course had we gotten one of those two, 'Bama might have been on their heels a hair on defense, but you gotta have success to put any defense on its heels. Sure hope Ewers hits his next deep ball, just to help mentally as much as anything. -
Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet
horn4life replied to Coach pop a bitch's topic in Football
Right now you have to simply say that the progression that everyone hoped to see in season with Ewers simply has not appeared, thus far. Now I can point some fingers at OL to some degree, but overall I personally don't think I saw much more in this first game that I did last season. The glaring problem is the exact same one as last year, the deep ball. I also think we try to force this aspect of the game to some degree, and I don't specifically blame Ewers for that, but as whose feet do I place responsibility for the inaccuracy if not Ewers? The good news is it was only the first game. The horrifying news is this was against Rice, not the beasts of Alabama's DL. My biggest regret about Ewers pedestrian performance is we should have been able to put in Murphy a lot earlier in a game we simply did not dominate offensively in the first half. That was my biggest disappointment. Now my concern shifts to how long do we stick with Ewers if we can't get a better percentage of completions on the deep balls? This is honestly where I wonder how much Sark has learned from Saban? If Ewers doesn't look strong versus Bama does Sark roll the dice with a change? I think looking back at Saban's career you have to think he might put next man up a lot sooner than Sark might. I personally hope like hell that Ewers comes out next week kicking ass. But if we cannot compete deeper balls, Ewers is going to have the dogs coming more and more often with less and less big play downside for the bad guys. Then again if he can make just a deep ball or two complete early it changes the game completely. Conversely strike out on deep balls that force punts a couple times... You get the idea. Ewers needs to move from greatness on paper, to greatness on the field. Or Sark is going to have to make a tough choice. -
