  1. Texas is a unique place. I don’t think most guys know exactly what they are getting themselves into. At Alabama, Ohio State even ou. A winning coach can pretty much rule the roost while never really having to worry about anyone fucking with them. That isn’t the way the Texas machine works. Even a successful coach doesn’t have the power that he would at those other schools. Not even Royal was immune from this simple fact. Texas truly is a Corporation, and the power stays behind closed doors. Not with its football coach.
  2. Well, I’m not saying you’re wrong as I think ou would lose to the three teams you mentioned as well. But, think about it for a second. When ou absolutely had to they pitched a shut out in the second half. A part of the game ou has really sucked at. That is the kind of stand that can really turn a unit around. And they did it without their best receiver (Lamb) and best RB (Sermon) and 4 guys from their defense that were part of the buzz earlier in the year. By the way I haven’t heard Riley use the injury excuse either. Then there is the other contenders. LSU beat Texas by 7, and allowed 600 yards of offense to Ole Miss last night. So they can be got. Clemson got lucky Mack called an unbelievable dumb play for the 2 point conversion. And have enjoyed a conference slate that is no fucking way as good as what is in the Big12. And as good as Ohio State has looked I’m still not sure how good they are. They have beat Fla Atlantic, Cincinnati, and Miami of Ohio out of conference. And NW, Indiana, Maryland, Mich St and Nebraska. Do any of those teams strike fear in you? They play in a conference that simply do not have the offenses to come back from any deficit. So would ou lose to all three? Probably. But it wouldn’t surprise me to see them win one out of the three either.
  3. Saban has enough skins to possibly get the benefit of a doubt by the media with his practicing the 2 minute drill excuse. Any other coach would get skewered over having a less than 100% player still in up 35-7
  4. I have a difficult time believing that is the only reason.
  5. It is a poor movie that fails to tell the story. From my point of view the writers wrote the script as if they were checking off boxes. The movie has all of the time honored tradition in cars, speed, etc. But it totally missed telling the story of how exactly they pulled it off. Is it a fun movie? Sure, I think so. But, if you are familiar with Carroll’s career (as well that of Hill, Brabham, Holman-Moody). As well that of Scuderia you will find it leaves you wanting something else.
  6. I don’t think complexity has much to do with it. Now execution? To me that is something entirely different. Though I could be wrong..
  7. I’m going to have to disagree with this. Yeah, I know all the funny shit about Marbles, but look at his career. Sure the ol miss run sucked. But everyone sucks at ol miss unless they buy a few Larry Tinsal’s. His run at SC was going pretty well. But let us be honest. Was it his coaching ability that didn’t get him the SC job or their (USC) bias? I think he is good at identifying what works and what doesn’t. And knows who can coach. Not to mention he didn’t blink when he had to face the very guy that was offered the job first. I mean what do you say if LSU runs the table? That he had nothing to do with it? Get the fuck outta here.
  8. No, the NCAA practices what has been done in financial institutions in England for over 700 years. Protect thy investment.
  9. Remember when the NCAA went to court (and subsequently failed) to try and put a hard cap on coaches salaries in an attempt to discourage an arms race? I remember.
  10. So, this was the big game environment Colorado was going for when they went to the PAC?
  11. Easy...You Munson that fucker. Larry Munson stood amongst the greats when it came to two things. First, even when Georgia was about to crush sisters of the poor. He would throw enough bullshit out there that you actually believed they may score a point. Or second, when getting beat he turned into the fan that worried about every possible thing that could go wrong (like the entire fanbase was doing). And spoke as a fan of the team hoping for divine intervention. Shame. These days everything (and everyone) has to be polished. Sometimes just being a good fan that speaks from the heart is all the listeners need.
  12. I agree, though most people don’t have your ear and probably didn’t catch what you did. But if you play the instrument you can almost always hear some tonality variation when someone covers a lick that isn’t organically theirs. It may be subtle, but you can hear it. One’s tone is like a fingerprint that is unique to each of us. No one can do you, like you.
  13. Oh child, there is so much more.
  14. it is probably because of my age. But damn a lot of those old tunes hit home.
  15. I apologize, but post a picture of what you are looking at. I’m interested in seeing exactly what you are trying to resolve. But, fair to say I was unaware of any manufacturer who used plywood in the construction of their top.
  16. I have been building electric guitars for over 40 years. Why would you want to put a piece of highly figure tone wood on top of flat plywood?
  17. Yeah, I’m in the minority on the bolded part. Sure, I get the premise of all the agitation. But without context it reminds me of a number of short films I saw while in college in Germany. Film students of that era loved this kind of shit.
  18. Food for thought. Beatty was a terrible football coach. And Kansas only was able to hire Miles because the LSU spin machine cast him aside as a dinosaur on the offensive side of the ball that refused to change. And he became somewhat of a pariah because everyone wants more offense. Under no other set of circumstances would Les coach there, or would Kansas have any chance of such a big name. Miles wants back in to big time college football. Unlike Beatty, Les is a real football coach. His teams will improve, and he has shown with firing Keonning that he is more than willing to axe a guy who ain’t performing. As well as attempting to shake the perception that he is against offensive football. Im not saying Kansas football is good. Probably will not have a winning record by season’s end. But they are much better than anything Beatty put out. They have a good runningback, and are improving along both the offensive and defensive lines. Considering their roster that is quite an accomplishment. Contrary to all of our resident experts they are better than they are getting credit for.
