  1. If you haven't tried it, a pimento cheese and bacon omelet is tough to beat.
  2. @Pdawg88 congrats on your son signing to play football. Although it is a good reminder to being grateful for the real Texas barbecue available to most of us, there are at least two other threads dedicated to non-Texas or other state's barbecue. There actually might be some other recommendations for your son in and around OK.
  3. These are generally fair long, so I'll use spoiler tags to keep the thread manageable. The incredible vanishing Congress:
  4. Many of you probably recognize H.W. Brands as a history professor at University of Texas - in fact the Jack C. Blanton Sr. Chair in History. Unfortunately, I never took one of his classes, but I have followed him for many years. He has written several biographies of U.S. Presidents along with other books. For the last several years, he has published A User's Guide to History on Substack - hwbrands@substack.com. I subscribed and get several emails a week. His range of topics is endless, but most touch on the historical relevance or foundation of a modern issue. I mainly wanted illuminate his writings to those who are interested. I will probably post a few of his articles - at least some that I find interesting.
  5. I would start with Martin Cirkiel. Either his firm can help or they will know who can.

Owen juked that defender on the corner kick which led to the Buka goal. Then Owen tries to give it back in the waning seconds by turning around and kicking over our end line.
  7. Seems like it comes up enough and there are enough people interested, that the cage match could be arranged. Worldwide PPV would make a mint. PETA might feign outrage, but they would raise a shit ton of money as well.
  8. Check out this thread to learn the fix to the tapa glitch.
  9. Galveston will be flat, but there is a good chance that half of the race will be into the wind. I find wind can be more demoralizing than hills.

GCJr sure can make a kit look cool.
  11. If you left without setting the clock 20 minutes ahead, I am disappointed.
  12. Damn the luck. A four and a half year old thread and you were beat by 9 minutes.
  13. This. 45% of US imports are of intermediate goods.
  14. Entire families going to HEB together makes me surly. Leaders in the clubhouse: mom, dad, two kids, and grandparents walking together though the store - every fucking aisle. I see them walking back to their car with two sacks of groceries. Make a list, pick a shopper, everyone else stay home and clean the damn house.
  15. That "fucking legend" kids always gets me.
  16. I really like the fact that all the games are not going to be played at the same time on the same day.
  17. *Del Boca Vista.
  18. Hey Alexa, I need a new squishmallo . . .
  19. Nice thing about showing up to Mum at 11:00-12:00 on the weekend, even with cars in the parking lot, there's a long line of hipsters getting coffee and the food line is short.
  20. Stopped at Kolacny's Bar-B-Q House in Halletville yesterday on the way to El Campo. This is a place listed in the 2021 TM BBQ Honorable mention and receives good reviews throughout those who like obscure, old-school barbecue - like the podcasters on Tales From the Pits. We got there around 1:00 following quite a rush. The original owners, Ervin and Carolyn, were manning the shop because the son and daughter-in-law, who now run the joint, were catering for a funeral. I really wanted to try the pork steak, but unfortunately Ervin said that the only thing they had left was two rings of sausage. Of course I got those two sausage rings and they were great. Course ground with a perfect snap. I'm looking forward to finishing the sausage this afternoon with a stack of saltines. Although its out of the way for almost anyone, I will go back (probably paired with a trip to Shiner). If Halletsville is on your way somewhere, its worth the stop. Even if all meats were available, I probably would have only bought pork steak, sausage, and a half chicken. I don't go to places like this for brisket, which many places have perfected. I go for the simple food cooked in a manner that it has been cooked since the 1800s. The same reason I grab a sausage ring from Smitty's when I'm in Lockhart.
  21. I don't call them mudbugs, but I understand it's pretty common in Louisiana. In different places I've lived they are called crayfish, crawdads, and crawfish. Just don't over cook them and you can call them whatever you want.
  22. I like the show, even though it is pretty cheesy. I watch it as much for the old Chevy & GMC trucks and Suburbans as anything else.
  23. I like the video of the R&R HOF artists, but I wish is had the date of the SNL performance listed as opposed to the year they were inducted into the HOF.
  24. Somewhere around 45% of US imports are of intermediate goods - components that go into end goods produced by US companies. Out of the top countries from which the US imports intermediate goods, Canada is No. 1 and Mexico is No. 2. While Mexican and Canadian companies might absorb some of the costs increases of the tariffs, much of the cost will be fronted, directly or indirectly, by US companies and their end users.
