This will be interesting. No Driussi and Keller on the bench. Nice to see Cascante back. Listo?!?
  4. I'm a member of the San Gabriel Fly Fishers in Georgetown. One informative meeting per month, usually one outing a month, fly casting clinics, fly tying sessions, etc. Its a good group, but probably a bit of a drive for you. Austin Fly Fishers meets off of Northland with a similar set up. They are actually doing an outing next Saturday to the Llano hosted by Jim Gray. Jim is an amazing fisherman with tons of knowledge (just Google Jim Gray fly fishing). He designed some of the flies I fish on the Llano. Fly fishing clubs provide great education and opportunities to fish in new places.
  5. That is on my list as well. I missed a trip a couple weeks ago with my fly fishing club.
  6. I haven't, but the river looks plenty fishable. I would probably hit Castell, then 103, and 102.
  7. I think with the rain the Austin area got yesterday and maybe tonight, I would head west and fish the Llano. My go to spot for wading the Llano is starting at the confluence of the Llano and the James Rivers (30.64907, -99.25000). You can wade down quite a ways and wade up to where to rivers meet. You can also head further up the James and wade a lot (depending on the water level). Last year I fished the James up past the bat cave (30.56545, -99.32981) and caught plenty of Guads and a couple Rios. I haven't fished Castell, but there is probably plenty of wading available there as well. The guy that owns Castell Store, and much of Castell, is nutty MAGA douche. If I am making a full day of it, I'll leave before dawn and drive way out west and then fish several spots on the way back. If you haven't picked up a copy of Aaron Reed's Fly Fishing Austin & Central Texas, do you self a favor and get one. He sets out 50 different wades in 21 rivers/creeks within a couple hours drive from Lady Bird Lake.
  8. I saw that he was slightly better on 4/28, but nothing since.
  9. I got an 8 weight 10th Anniversary TFO TiCrX in 2007. Used it at the coast for a year or so, then put it away. I apparently didn't clean it very well and when I pulled it out in 2022 an eyelet had corroded. $60 later and my 15 year old rod was good as new. I'm a big fan of TFO products and service.
  10. No reported deaths in Texas from a coral snake bite since the antivenin was developed in 1960. Before that it was mainly aggies.
  11. Snowpiercer was the vibe I was getting as well.
  12. You're not the boss of us.
  13. My daughter had a white t-shirt with burnt orange picture of Yoda and "May the Horns be With You"
  14. I think the working title is Beating a Dead Horse in the Ass
  15. No one better list: My Cousin Vinny in the Ass
  16. You might be right. Mattson gives the Roys enough rope to hang themselves. He might be gambling that the Roman and Kendall with do enough damage to the value that the shareholders will beg him to do the deal at a much lower price per share.
  17. I always read python with an Australian accent.
  18. I have my Shimano Stradics paired with TFO 3-piece spinning rods. At this point, I use them as a backup to flyrods, but they have served me well at the coast with reds, local creeks and rivers, and in Canada with 18" smallmouths and 30" northern pike.
  19. Look at the Shimano Stradic. I have several 15 -20 year old Stradics and they work great.
  20. I had a friend that chased a guy down the street for stealing a bike from the side of someone's house. It was a bright yellow bike and part of the Austin free bike initiative or whatever it was called - which was a resounding success.
  21. I agree with you. My caveat was simply - as long as you are not taking someone to show them that Texas has the best barbecue in the world, Salt Lick would be a good choice.
  22. I went walking with the wife yesterday morning. She was doing a little stretching due to a pulling a muscle running a few days ago. I mocked her with a half-assed windmill stretch - pulled my lower back so bad that I couldn't walk. FML.
