  1. They're not really related
  2. It's this exactly. Even if a few politicians see this, the majority wont or will not act. Congress needs to vote to move setting the budget and taxing its citizens to an appointed body of experts. I have always thought they need to move it to the fed and have fed set the budget, at a minimum. If there is a better solution, Im all for it but I cant see it. Congress wont do it because they wont be re-elected and the majority of the US population is too stupid (both left and right) to know something needs to be done. Better now than when the debt hits 50 trillion ( which is where I heard the shit will really hit the fan ).
  3. I would say get out and vote then, but it's Louisiana so this seems like a 'nothing to see here" story for them.
  4. Speaking of grass, which is best for sustained 100+F heat for months on end with little to no rain? I don't want Bermuda. Zoysia? St augustine is not the answer. I've lost it both in 2011 and 2022/2023. I'm looking to replace again. Preferably seeded with little watering required to start. Is there such a grass? Maybe I should develop one...
  5. This is what gerrymandering gets you.
  6. Chat GPT just told me this The absence of a Speaker of the House is a significant disruption to the legislative process. It means that the House cannot pass any bills, and it also means that the House cannot investigate or impeach the president.
  7. I dont think Ive ever watched the something like this on TV. Do they always bang the gavel that hard?
  8. Oh Jesus fucking Christ...... its vacant
  9. I just told my wife we can never sell our house now unless we buy the next one cash. I would be a fool to sell with my 2.99% rate. Its a no brainer for me and so many other households to stay put. 8.00% mortgage rate. What the fuck.
  10. Gonna do a little buying and swing trading around the 200 day moving average and previous resistance level of 4200. Got my SPY limit order in. If I dont work on the day it hits, Ill change it and buy QQQ around that level instead. Looking for a 2%-4% gain. Worked well for me last year. Have yet to trade at all this year.
  11. This. I tried to like the show in season 1 because I love the books. The more I thought about it after the season ended, the more I realized it just sucked shit and the choices they made were painful to watch. Season 2 is much better. I like the choices they have made since I now know there will be no faithful adaptation. Lowered expectations helps. Rand/Lanfear - thumbs up. Min/Matt - thumbs up. Liandrin story change - thumbs up. Any forsaken scene - thumbs up. The choice/character arc for Elayne - thumbs up. The only thing that still pisses me off is Moiraine and her story and screen time. She is a SIDE character. Quit making the show about her.
  12. Woke up to 66 degrees here in dallas. 5 degrees cooler than what was predicted yesterday. My dog didn't want to end his walk.
  13. "The Loppers" because they take teams heads off.
  14. That's it. I'm out.
  15. Dump her.
  16. We are in the middle of a master bath remodel. Takes 2 weeks. Was quoted 10k for labor. We buy all the materials ourselves. 1k for each 60 inch vanity x2, stand alone tub $ 600, tub faucet $200, floor and shower tile $1k, toilet $280, frameless shower glass and door $2k (this was a sub contractor so it includes both parts and labor). Lights and mirrors $1k . Vanity faucets and shower heads $500, Misc paint grout etc $500. All together looking at 18k.
  17. @C-ManDoes personal property insurance cover our cars? That makes a huge difference.
  18. That is excellent information. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I have a meeting with my farmers rep tomorrow to discuss and I just didn't have a thorough understanding.
  19. I've been thinking about it and the only things I would ever file a claim for is a bad hailstorm, a direct hit of an f4 or f5 tornado, an attic fire, and a direct nuclear strike on my home. Other than that, when am I ever filing a claim? When I get home I'm going to look at the odds of those things happening in flower mound texas and go from there.
  20. I have some more time on my hands and am trying to lower my home/auto insurance. My question is what parts of my coverage is bullshit and can be lowered/removed etc. From reading some definitions, I dont care for loss of use. Id like to drop that. I dont need my limit of personal property to be $216,000. More like the shit in our home is worth like 20 grand at most. For separate structures all we have is our fence but isnt an entire new fence like 8 grand? Id like to lower that amount covered as well. The only one I get a little nervous about is Dwelling. I owe 238k on our home. I have read about people lowering the limit to what you owe on the house. Someone please explain all of this to me. I have never really looked at my home insurance policy before and it is just the one they gave me when I got the house 7 years ago. We live in Flower Mound Tx if that makes a difference. I have also heard you can lower your premium by increasing the deductibles. Here are mine. I mean seriously, with these deductibles, what the fuck am I actually paying for? A black swan event like a total loss? How many times in your life are you going to file a claim if the deductible is 6k a year? Im paying $2100 a year for this with Farmers. Have never filed a claim, and want it lowered in the smartest possible way considering what I have just told everyone. Thanks
  21. Pick your poison. In hind sight the fed should have started raising rates in the middle of 2021. Supply chain issues at the time exacerbated the problem and ruined the word "transitory".
  22. I look at these from time to time. Its the same for every generation past present and future. Its the median retirement savings that's the real eye opener even for the top quartile. Basically the bottom 50% of everyone hasnt saved anything. And these numbers are the same for all age brackets and always have been. What skews the overall average savings is the top 3-5% of the US population and their 1 million - 100 billion in savings/worth. Everyone else either has nothing or not near enough. And yet we all mostly live to be like 80 on average and lots of poor people die in their 90s so its not the end all be all. Now quality of life years. That is something to look at and money would/could help live a better/healthier life for longer.
  23. 100 with a heat index of 109. In late September. I'm never going to be presumptuous about summer ending again. I'm in the middle of second summer. I'm hopeful second summer will end sometime in October.
  24. We should really be comparing this team to the sugar bowl team that beat Georgia a few years back. Maybe just maybe we can compare them to the 2008 or 2009 teams but we are 4-0 this year with our best win being a 10 point victory against an Alabama team with no qb. The 2005 team was one of the greatest college football teams of ALL TIME. What the fuck did I just stumble onto?
