  1. I share your testing the waters with the first charge hypothesis. Maybe just chose a near-to-you address for the first order to test the card, but not have a parcel hit your front porch which might alert you to situation. Bernard
  2. I missed Astroworld Fest because I was in Morgantown, but luckily the stage is still set up so I kinda feel like I was there. 8AM beers are the only way to prepare for Texans games. Bernard
  3. This was FlagGuy at the first game of the year in 2020. Sometimes his signs work all the time. Bernard
  4. Fact: if not for the existence of two separate videos showing the world a virtually 360 degree view of the murder as it occurred, everyone who or profits or earns an income from our disgusting law enforcement industry would already be telling lie, after lie, after lie, to keep this murderer on the job. This is how police have operated since forever. if you doubt this, go read the press release the the police issued after George Floyd’s murder. The murdering cops would have received a pat on the back for a job well done if not for a 17 year old girl with iPhone in hand and the presence of mind to press the record button. Bernard
  5. It’s almost cute how some of you posters think shoplifting is some sort of new fangled crime that a bunch of youngsters on Instagram/Snapchat/Facetron just invented out of the blue. Bernard
  6. Got my Moderna booster today. Only noticeable effect so far is a slight tenderness if I touch my arm. I had forgotten all about it until I looked in the mirror and noticed the bandage on my arm. Bernard
  7. This was the crowd just before the end of regulation. Pretty sparse all around. Sadly, this was also the loudest the stadium had been all night. Bernard
  8. When I want something gone, the Free section of CL is awesome. Bernard
  9. Anyone who voted to approve this eye sore should be banned from the spectator sports industry for life. Take poll of any person who has ever attended a college football game or even seen one on TV and ask them which is better… Bernard
  10. No. It doesn’t. It looks like shit. It’s a monstrosity. Bernard
  11. November 10, 1990 #3 UH @ #14 Texas Texas fans rush the field before the game is even over. Bernard
  12. Assuming access and space are not issues, the cost will be a rounding error on the price of the home. Bernard
  13. Here’s the premise of the movie they were shooting… ”Harland Rust is an outlaw with a bounty on his head. When his thirteen-year-old grandson Lucas is convicted of accidental murder and sentenced to hang, Rust travels to Kansas to break him out of prison. Together, the two fugitives must outrun the legendary U.S. Marshal Wood Helm and bounty-hunter Fenton "Preacher" Lang.” — per Wikipedia Bernard
  14. If their invisible sky daddy can’t or won’t save them, why should we intervene? Bernard
  15. I’m late to this thread, but whoever approved this monstrosity should never have a job ever again. The south end zone is an embarrassment that we will have to live with for decades to come. Bernard
  16. Memo to Texas Monthly, Truth BBQ is NOT located in The Heights. Nice to see them at #2 though. Bernard
  17. That’s what I said in the summer of 2011 while leasing a studio apartment two blocks off Main St. in Frisco, Colorado for $800/month. At the time, studio condos at the nearby Cedar Lodge Condominiums were selling for $100,000 to $110,000. Why bother buying? Now that same apartment is renting for $1,500/month (saw it on Craigslist last week) and the condos are selling for $425,000. #shouldhaveboughtone OP just go ahead and buy the most expensive house you can possibly stomach. You’re going to lease it out most of time anyway. Think of it as an investment, not an expense. The only actual expense is the opportunity cost you incur when you occupy it yourself. Bernard
  18. In my time and place (SW Houston 1987), gap year meant you weren’t quite sure what you wanted to do in life and your parents weren’t giving you a blank check for college so you took a year off and waited tables and partied while a good portion of your peer group went off to college. Then a year or so later you realized your HS diploma wasn’t going to get you where you wanted to go in life, so you had to figure out some way to continue your education, likely in a degree program that leads directly to some kind of employment. I know a handful of these people and they all turned out fine. Bernard
  19. Lines are for suckers. I walk up the 2nd person in line. Hand him an stack of cash. Tell him to buy me some tickets and keep $20 for himself. Bernard
  20. Residential property taxes in China are zero. It makes it really easy for people to buy and hold real estate, even if it’s producing no income. Say what you want about property taxes in the USA, but at least they are a nudge toward keeping property productive, and a disincentive to build unneeded buildings. That being said, a zero property tax rate is a sure fire way to stimulate construction industry jobs. Bernard
  21. My understanding is that CTH does not currently work for either Company A or Company B. These are two new companies making offers. If Company B is his current employer, that changes everything. Bernard
  22. The answer is of course, yes. The dealer will inform Midtown in about 9.5 weeks. 🙂 Bernard
  23. This. You didn’t agree to marry them. All jobs are subject to either party changing their mind at any time. Don’t feel the least but bad for quitting after 5 years, 5 months, 5 days or even -5 days. You didn’t mislead them. You made a decision based on all information available at the time. Now circumstances have changed. All you owe them is honesty. Bernard
