  1. Not illegal as they have no tree ordinance. But that is a stupid and immoral thing to do to a healthy tree. Funny story, I one had a project in BFE that had a 8 ft diameter live oak on it. From the start I told the client if they wanted to remove it I was out of the project altogether.
  2. God I’ve been begging for my company to FAFO with this so I can just retire with no guilt at all. But so far no dice.
  3. Ackman shorting 30 year Treasury notes right now. Pretty interesting bet in inflation not being completely tamed.
  4. Lol Krugman. Edit: I think there’s another monkey shit flinging debt ceiling slap fight coming so maybe they are getting ahead of it.
  5. I think Fitch explained their reasoning pretty well. Fiscal deterioration, check, down to the wire clown shows on debt ceiling, check, 20 years of deterioration in governance. It points to a bleak trend for the US as ultimately it means money is more expensive to borrow as risk is higher. I can’t believe the first cut was 12 years ago. Time flies when you’re having fun.
  6. PAXS was the other Pimco vehicle I was thinking of. The one big downside to Pimco besides their NAV to price is their expenses, but that yield is amazing. So much so that a lot of people keep predicting they will need to cut distributions (especially on PDI) but it hasn’t happened yet.
  7. I really like Pimco and Blackrock funds. Pimco has PDI and another that I can’t think of now. Blackrock has the best tax exempt California muni fund. A lot of people like the new JP Morgan fund, JEPI, but I think it’s limited in upside on bull markets.
  8. So the lady who slept on the floor wrote a novel? Good for her. Ain’t nobody got time to read that long cat.
  9. I used the opportunity to buy a bunch at 1.85. Stonks for life baby!
  10. Yeah a short report alleging their biggest current buyer on back log is fraudulent. If real it is pretty serious.
  11. It’s similar to what fidelity just did to their investment in Twitter. Essentially a loss in value.
  12. Nice job. I’m almost 3 weeks in and down 12 lbs. It’s been easier than I anticipated. The food tracking is absolutely key for me. I eat, record, and let feeling full be something I don’t worry about. Haven’t felt a ton of hunger but I do snack. Lowest weight since kids were little. My goal is still 25 lbs away but feeling good about it more.
  13. I know this sounds ridiculous but on the Monterey peninsula the best deal on most groceries is Whole Foods. So we shop there and Costco and it works. Safeway is outrageous as is Luckys. HEB is a National treasure but we’ll never get them out here. I had barbecue today and as long as you don’t want brisket you can be ok. I had pulled pork and chicken that was delicious. Finally, to echo @closetohumping the cost of living for middle class is ridiculous out here. Between folks who are locked into minuscule valuations and can transfer it across family, making existing housing extremely pricey, and new construction being really expensive, you have to go to Merced or Los Banos or Palm Desert or Inland Empire, and it’s crazy. There is an attempt to increase the housing stock finally but it’ll be very limited in its effect. But now that I’m here there’s no way I’m going back. QOL is just so good.
  14. This is the truth. The third is following a job. But there are plenty of Unfilled jobs here. The problem is wealth and lack of new housing has squeezed any kind of middle class into limited options. None of my group of friends here would move to Texas but a bunch have employees there.
  15. I can finally start obsessively checking my 401k again!
  16. I think it’ll retrace to below 2 while we wait on positive news. The biggest problem is everyone is waiting to get diluted. If a major comes in then we should be good, but meantime ride the PSS coaster.
  17. Read my mind. Let’s go catch falling knives! In at 13.50.
  18. Ironic that you found this aimed at you when it clearly wasn’t. If the glove fits though…
  19. Unfortunately CEO performance is correlated to metrics which may or may not be reflective of company performance. Hence idiotic stock buybacks that make you scratch your head. And on top of that, a CEO can actually be penalized for making long term decisions beneficial to the company. But that goes to the core issue in a lot of companies. Their boards are pathetic and don’t do their job, rubber stamping the compensation plans. Unfortunately none of that is relevant to this thread as it relates very lightly to inflation… And the CR bullshit really needs to go away, it runs an otherwise really good thread.
  20. About 10 days in and doing great with LoseIt. Not really paying too much attention to the macros right now, focusing on calorie count but it is surprisingly effective to measure what you eat and realize portion size was absolutely the issue in my diet. I am down to 273 going to 245. Goal was November first, but app is saying mid October now. We’ll see. I don’t travel and don’t eat out much so should be able to control the inputs easily. Snacking between breakfast and lunch has made it a lot easier to keep from feeling hungry. I’ve just about eliminated processed sugar.
  21. In at about 1.69 dollar cost average. I still believe!
